  1. Good Points. But the fat guy in my example doesn't pay any taxes and gets medicaid as well as a "disability" check. And he is only 29.
  2. KAP SUCKS

I can't comment on KAP but I have heard this myth repeated many times along the line of your statement "If they are so good how come they didn't live to be over 100." There are many reasons a person physically dies, genetics, life style, accidents, etc. Everyone does so. Have you ever considered some of the more advanced people really didn't need to stay here anymore? Dieing at a certain age means NOTHING WHATSOEVER about a person's accomplishments.
  3. Sorry you don't understand, here it is re-written. The problems are: THIS is a problem> Fact: Health care in the USA is not available to everyone as many can not afford it. THIS is a problem> Fact: Many who do work and attempt to take care of themselves get ill and find themselves losing their homes and unable to support their families due to exorbitant health care costs. THIS is a problem> Fact: We who do attempt to take care of our health end up paying for those who smoke, drink, and overeat excessively because they get sick. What is a solution TO THE ABOVE STATED PROBLEMS in accord with Tao? Why don't you simply state your opinion? If you don't agree that these are problems then say so AND please say why you do not perceive them as problems.
  4. Well said. I hate the "fix me" mentality I see in my clinic. (Take responsibility? Who Me?) is the attitude I mostly get. About TCM, a local physician tried to start offering acupuncture in one of the local medical clinics and the hospital who owned the clinic would not let it happen as they said "show me where the AMA endorses this as a "standard of care". Pure Ignorance! One redeeming thing is that a local emergency room doctor referred a patient to me for medical qigong recently.
  5. Don't understand exactly what it is you are proposing. What exactly do you mean by "don't put a price on health.."? Are you saying that health care should be free? If so, then who do you propose to pay for it? Why is it your opinion that the "public option" is a false attempt? My understanding is that a long time ago in China the doctor would see his patient on a regular basis and as long as the person stayed healthy the doctor received regular payment. If the person got sick then they no longer payed the doctor until they were well again.
  6. I think this subject is everyone's problem. Just a few of the problems were outlined, as facts, unless you don't consider them a problem and think it is OK. If so, then that is your opinion and you can't offer a solution if you don't consider it a problem. But there are many who do consider it a problem, and several have expressed opinions as to a solution. You hint at problems/solutions but do not clarify exactly what your opinion is. True, but I could point out this scenario in just about ANY part of the country.
  7. Not arguing whether you are right or wrong, but, just to clarify, are you OK with paying out of your pocket for health care for the intensely obese person walking into a medical clinic smelling of alcohol, with a coke in one hand and putting out a cigarette before she/he enters the clinic to get treated for high blood pressure and diabetes, who the doctor suggests she/he starts an exercise program and he/she replies" I barely can get up from the couch to get a soft drink and some potato chips"? This describes at least 30% of the folks where I live.
  8. One of the problems we face is the suit-happy public driving up costs to the physicians. Does anyone realize the cost of insurance the physicians have to pay? Another problem, related to this one, is the "standard of care". If a physician sees someone, they HAVE to provide the "standard of care" or they open themselves up to a lawsuit. An example of this is antibiotics when not needed. The physician may know of a completely safe natural method, but if they do not prescribe this "standard of care" BOOM, lawsuit possibilities where the physician can lose their license. If this were not the case we would see much more natural health care.
  9. Some very good points have been made so far. This is something that I have to deal with everyday. Very difficult to provide education of these things to people who do not wish to listen. But we, IMO, do need to try.
  10. I graduated to and found the Black Level to be quite good. But at some point knew I would never make it to the Blue Level and quit practicing altogether. But what a ride that system can give you! You know, what I can't understand is the audacity and ignorance of folks who, when I called them at 2 in the morning to elucidate to them the vast secrets that Johnny Walker had revealed, cussed me and hung up, not wanting the deep secrets of the universe as their own.
  11. Sense Pleasures

If you do not enjoy having sense pleasures while you are here you will probably wish you had when you are not. Only dogmatic beliefs tell us we should not. It is part of the effort of control mechanism that these beliefs initiate. When you eat chocolate - EAT the chocolate - enjoy each and every bite with your whole being NOW. I assure you it does make a difference when you do this in the NOW or if you do it on the run, not really taking the time to enjoy it. We are meant to have fun and enjoy ourselves in abundance. Cultivation does not mean giving up those things that bring about joy. Cultivation is about raising the energy body vibrational frequency, practicing virtue, and walking in the wu wei. We can do that while eating an orange IF we EAT the orange instead of grabbing the orange and eating it while running off to someplace. Compassion is a part of this and is needed to cultivate past a certain point. Yes. The only real thing is NOW. But by walking in the wu wei we are attuned to NOW while at the same time doing things that benefit all.
  12. MSM can help with inflammation but it is mild - think fish oil is really good. Also I take a really good formula from Integrative Therapeutics called Circumax and higher doses of same company's Grape seed Phytosome; have seen these combinations help quite a bit. Have seen msm/glucosamine work well with others but the glucosamine doesn't do anything for me. So my program is fish oil, Circumax, Magnesium Malate, and grape seed extract (phytosome). Re: Medicine in the future I start all my flyers out with - Medical/Clinical Qigong: Future's Medicine, and I firmly believe that to be so. Is this your website? www.lifeaftertheoilcrash.net , I have read it occasionally.
  13. I have seen no proof of rebuilding of cartilage with qi - do think it is possible, but would be over a long period of time. As far as eliminating the pain, medical qigong works very well for osteo-arthritis. I have had very good results with reduction of inflammation and elimination of pain. Qigong self-healing helps immensely but you cannot do the same thing with your own qi as someone with a higher vibrational level that does medical qigong. The reason for this is that you are at the same energy potential as yourself. But definitely keep up the practice, it surely will help. Find a medical qigong practitioner that you can go to for help. Have you tried long term glucosamine sulfate, MSM, high quality fish oil, etc?
  14. Ho Shou Wu

I am thinking now it must have been Anguo City. My notes on this seem to be packed up or lost. But it was HUGE. Sea horses, several humdred different ginseng vendors, earthworm casings, dong quai... nothing listed in TCM was not there. At the time I was intensely interested in TCM - not so much now. I just use Golden Flower herbs and occasionally Kan Herbs and Health Concerns brand herbs; I believe them all to be high quality. At a certain point in Medical Qigong one tends to start bypassing all the TCM theories and go direct with energy manipulation. But I did have good results utilizing the TCM. For added flavor, throw in a few earth worm casings, yumm (don't do this, just kidding)
  15. Thoughts on Buddhism?

Agreed! But it is my point that these folks read a lot but do not practice
  16. Thoughts on Buddhism?

I see your point but disagree that "reading the words couldn't help but change a mind and lead it to meditation with the right intentions and viewpoints". I have met many so called Buddhists who said they were very well read in Buddhism but OBVIOUSLY did not meditate or practice core Buddhism. They were oh-so-Buddhist that they couldn't see the forest because the trees were getting in the way. To be fair, I have certainly seen plenty of oh-so-Taoist's that had the same problem. I also disagree with this statement "Qigong and Hatha Yoga are different, in that they are body practices for the mind, but through the avenue of the body..." I can't speak for hatha yoga but the Jing Dong Gong qigong is not a body practice at all and it's main effect is to eliminate the linear mind from the equation and jump to direct quantum energetics, "not body practices for the mind through the avenues of the body". You may be correct for some of the physical oriented qigong forms.
  17. Ho Shou Wu

You know, I can't remember. It was several hours bus ride from where I was in Baoding. I'll see if it is in my old notes. Supposed to be the very biggest in all China.
  18. Thoughts on Buddhism?

Exactly. As long as what is written is not acted upon without verification through the practice. Remember anyone can write a book and say anything they wish and call it any subject they wish - doesn't mean it possesses any truth whatsoever. Again, reading ABOUT something really does nothing other that give a person a VIEWPOINT. It is all in the practice itself. One could read 3,000 books on any subject and they would not develop understanding without the PRACTICE of that subject. In terms of Buddhism if one read everything that was written but did not put anything into the actual day to day practice they would not have gained. I could read every mathematics book written but without applying it I would have no understanding of mathematics. I could read every book on qigong that was ever written but if I did not apply (practice) I would have nothing. Buddhism is no different. To anyone who wishes to refute this I disagree. So my next post is covered.
  19. Female Orgasms and Energy Cultivation

My advice to anyone is do not EVER become something you are not only to please another person. I think any person should do any particular thing only if they feel it is a good thing for them. I do think weight exercises are important, if for no other reason than to help prevent osteoporosis as well as muscle atrophy, and cardio benefits. I usually say it is required and indeed it is much better. But if one person gets to a specific advanced point in their cultivation then they can work this energy without the other person understanding. I have no idea how that applies to you or your situation.
  20. Ho Shou Wu

Ho Shou Wu Can't tell you best source but how about a ho shou wu story? I had traveled to the largest herb market in China and wanted to pick up a few things, one of them being Ho Shou Wu... My problem was that my Chinese language skills sucked (and still do). This market had several acres of herb/mineral/animal - every single ingredient that Chinese Herbal Medicine offers. Amazing! So I first looked for Ho Shou Wu but couldn't find it. So I made the error of asking someone about it. So it turned into an hr long thing ending up with about 300 Chinese doctors, pharmacists, and herb suppliers trying to assist me - all at once. It went something like this I asked Ho Sou Wu - everyone gave me this puzzled look so I tried varying the tonalities - he shoe wa, hoe shoe wu, hush sho wooo, hesh show wooo, he shoe waa - you get the drift. Finally one doctor exclaimed "ahhh! Ho Shu Wu" - which sounded to me exactly like the first thing I asked for. What an experience! I have seen the herb change people born with black hair that has turned grey back to black.
  21. Thoughts on Buddhism?

My personal experience was that I had read every single book I could find and it all was bullshit compared to the experience of being with a real teacher and the experience of what was gained from the practice. A large part of the teachings in high level qigong come from the energy projection of the teacher, not "what he says". IMO David's article on qigong explains all this very well.
  22. Thoughts on Buddhism?

If I had of just read about it I NEVER EVER would have understood what it really is. Anything worthwhile must be experienced personally or it really has no meaning.
  23. Thoughts on Buddhism?

I agree with those that say direct experience transcends reading ABOUT something. It is OK and to become a scolar if that is what you wish. But I thing 10,000 years of reading ABOUT something does not bring about the experience of 1 hr of DOING something. IMO ALL practices including Buddhism and Taoism are simply methods of helping a person learn reality versus illusion. This is something that has to be experienced and can not be brought about by simply reading ABOUT it. In other words it is the experiential component of all teachings that have meaning to any particular individual. And furthermore it does not matter if that particular teaching is Christianity, Buddhism, Taoism, Zorastorism or any other; truth is truth and illusion is illusion. The goal is to burn through the filters of illusion and cast any particular "ism" aside.
  24. Female Orgasms and Energy Cultivation

From the other thread; (this is a dual cultivation method): The method I list in this book works equally well for women as it does for men; a direct experiencing of the Divine with true alchemy. The only gotcha with this system is that it works best (I usually say requires but it does depend on energetic experience) when both male and female are qigong practitioners. Vortex posted this quote in another thread:
  25. Asking for constructive criticism

Hi David, This is probably the very best explanation/advice that I have ever read put together in one place. You do truly have a talent for grasping the elusiveness of qi and qigong. Now if you can only get people to read and apply it to their own situation!
