  1. Not from my perspective. See how all the confusion was gained from reading a book which led to false conclusions? Anyone can gain a perspective from reading 10,000 books but what does that perspective mean? Without the experience of the thing it actually doesn't have a whole lot of meaning. I can read everything you wrote in the above post and agree with it from a Chinese medicine perspective but it tells me absolutely nothing about the experience of qi cultivation or how to manipulate qi.
  2. OK, thanks for the specifics. Don't blame you for being skeptical until you have interacted. WE ALL need to do this. Far too many read a book or two and think that it is the real thing, or hear someone else say what a good teacher someone is, or what a great Taoist scholar someone is, until we actually meet the teacher and find out they obviously haven't cultivated; the person only thought they were a good teacher based upon the personality and/or scholastic achievements. AND there sure is a lot of nonsense going around that is called qigong/taiji/yoga/taoism. It is not all the same. Here is one extremely simplified way to look at it. You know how the power line comes into your house and the electricity lights up the lightbulbs? First it comes into a transformer before the line extends to your house. If it was all the same, then why not just take the direct line into the lightbulbs? The reason is, it wouldn't work, it would not be conditioned to be the output desired to accomplish the task. Substitute the electricity for qi, the transformer for dan tian and the incoming powerline as the universe. The other thing is that with internal cultivation we actually raise our energy body vibration frequency. When we do that we are much better at manipulating the energy and can call on different frequencies as needed. In this case we would be using our own energy and dan tian more for transmutation so as to help change the energy into something that has a specific manifestation. But we pull the energy from everywhere and through all pores of our body, from inside, from outside, and from other dimensions. Goodness. You keep asking all these questions but will not seek a teacher. I feel for you, but see you are willing to spend dollars for books/video. I'll offer this: Come to one of my next 2 workshops. Pay some small amount that you decide on (need energy exchange). After that practice the techniques for 90 days; then decide if you think it was worth something and pay that something that you think it was worth or not. If you don't like me then there are several others that post here that could help you FAR FAR more than you will ever get out of the books.
  3. Is this a personal cut on me? Hey, I'm a nice guy What I teach stands on it's own with students throughout the USA who use this to help others with amazing result rates.
  4. Gauging a local 'master' ?

I can laugh about this now. She did come to many classes and turned out to be one of my more powerful students. But the thing still is that I did not act responsibly. My lesson? Took me a little while to learn but I no longer throw qi (there is a difference in Qi manipulation/projection and throwing qi). Some things, like the commercial, you learn to just say no. Back in those days I did this another time in class. A rather large guy who was a martial artist was in the class and was having trouble with feeling qi from his practice so I threw qi at him. It knocked him out of the chair on the floor, his head hit on something and blood was rushing out of his head. My heart stopped for a few seconds and I was thinking OMG. Turned out he had a simple cut on his ear from hitting the chair, which was one of those "knee chairs". So, in addition to no longer throwing qi, I no longer let people sit in those chairs during my workshops Oh, and he did come back for further training instead of wanting to kick my tail. I was glad.
  5. You can pull in energy from all the pores of your body. You may find you can read about all this for a very long time and get nowhere and stand a very good chance of getting in trouble. AS far as healing goes, one single workshop with your teacher of choice would go a long ways toward helping you understand these things. This thread is very applicable to what you ask about.
  6. Gauging a local 'master' ?

I agree. So MANY times people have come to me and asked me to do qi manipulation in order to satisfy their raw curiosity or to challenge me to see if I "was the real thing". They have no intention of really learning and it is an ego thing to challenge anyone. AS everyone knows I am big on story examples so here is one for you, may have already posted before don't remember. In my past I also thought that the seeing is believing and would help a potential student see that "this is real". One day I was in a store where one of my flyers for a workshop was posted. A girl was looking at it and then looked at me, walked up and said she was thinking of attending but wanted to first "feel the qi". So I said sure and threw qi at her. It knocked her several feet across the room in an unconscious heap. Momentarily I was stunned, then went into healer mode and projected to a "revival" point. She came out of it and was OK. But the thing was she may not have been OK and it was oh so irresponsible of me to do what I did. We should NEVER do these things without a good reason. To satisfy someones curiosity or challenge Is NOT a good reason. Wisdom is something that has to be pursued and has nothing whatsoever to do with phenomena.
  7. Gauging a local 'master' ?

Memphis? The only master I have ever met in Memphis was this female bass player on beale street Just kidding! I agree with the statement about the students and I totally disagree about if they can or can not do phenomena. If someone comes to me more interested in the phenomena of "what I can or cannot do" then I will not teach them the real thing until they get over that idea that the ability to do phenomena means anything whatsoever about the advancement of a teacher or themselves.
  8. Yes I agree that it takes years to develop the awareness and much needed training. I just meant that is is all for nothing without aligning oneself with Tao (wu wei)/ the Light / God / Divine / Spirit or however a person wants to name. But I don't think a person can really do this wholly without the developed awareness. I teach the Warrior's S.H.I.E.L.D.which is Shielding, Help (prayer), INTENT (quantum not linear), Listening (which is what you are describing as years to develop awareness), and Detachment (detach oneself from outcome once INTENT is set) as a method to summarize these concepts. Core is raising the energy body vibration rate through time&effort energy practice as well as different techniques of energy manipulation for different dis-ease.
  9. Psychedelic Drugs/ Do They Give You Enlightenment?

Yes, can screw up your energetics and neuro system big time.
  10. Good advice. In fact, many of the posts on this thread are good advice. However, I would like to go a little more in depth with my experience with this. Even though I am the first to say there are many things we do not (yet) know about energetics, what I have found is there are some consistencies with energy healing. These consistencies that I and others have found do not really mesh with some of the things taught about energy healing. Don't wish to argue any of these points so take them as the ravings of a mad man then learn the truth for yourself if that is what you wish. OR take this to heart. 1) Don't do energy healing unless you KNOW in your heart that is what you are supposed to do. It is not as easy as one may think and there are many implications concerning doing this. 2) Don't attempt to do energy healing unless you have practiced a powerful internal qigong system. See 3) as to why. It is all about raising the energy body vibration rate. 3) Don't practice energy healing of any kind unless you have the ability to recognize sick qi and know how to deal with it. I have never seen, in all my years, any energy healer from any system that gets by doing energy healing for an extended period of time without ill health effects UNLESS they recognize this. Of course some of you may say but I have been doing it for _ years and I feel fine and I don't practice qigong. If this is the case then there are only 2 possibilities. One is that you are not powerful enough to displace the sick energy from the patients body or two is that it simply hasn't caught up with you YET. I have worked on many healers who have developed problems with this (in fact I have 3 that I am seeing right now, so when I say many I mean close to a hundred or more). They all thought that as long as they were doing good there was no such thing as sick qi. 4) Align yourself with the Light. It doesn't matter what you call it, but in order to help insure you are not interfering with the patient's destiny and to have the best possible outcome you must do this. 5) Energy healing that has a basis is SO much more complete that the types that do not. Medical qigong has a basis. Many of the "new age" techniques do not have this extensive background. Medical qigong has specific healing techniques for specific problems. 6) Without proper training you CAN harm yourself and others; don't do it. Yes there are natural energy healers. They need training too.
  11. This was great! I hope everyone reads it.
  12. The Color Purple

This is a really good thing. I would advise not to intellectualize about it but just go with it. Congratulations, good job! Are you doing energy healing or do you have an interest in energy healing? You may find you do have the talent for it.
  13. Good realization Scott, this is serious stuff that requires great sobriety. In regard to the "are they all drived from qigong". I was with a Cherokee medicine man. After doing energy healings, he said there was an exercise that helped clear out the negative energetics absorbed. This was identical to a qigong exercise. Further delving into this, I found there was not a whole lot of difference in what was being done in the energy healings between the shamanistic approach and the medical qigong. BOTH paths required great commitment and pursuit with the heart of a warrior. It boils down to truth is truth no matter what culture it comes from. But as Paul said, the medical qigong has a basis much broader in spectrum and history of use than many of the "new age" approaches. Some of these approaches are missing the full spectrum of what is needed for a person to do this on a continuous basis. It is simply too powerful to play around with. Many years and discipline? Yes But if you really want to learn this there are several medical qigong schools in the USA and Europe. Unless you have connections in China it would be more difficult to find a really good program. First learn a powerful qigong cultivation form. I recommend an internal form and external movements. Do you have to spend years reading books.... Books are good for reading ABOUT medical qigong but they do nothing to actually teach you how to (you will get those on this forum that will argue this is not true, but this is my experience). I have a student that has just about every book written on energy healing. For several years he pursued this doing intense study. One day he was remarking to a friend of his who happened to be one of my student about how frustrating it was that he didn't intimately know energetics. He only knew ABOUT energetics. My student told him to pack up all his books and come to one of my workshops. He did and now has an intimate understanding of energetics. He can manipulate energy very well and continues to study with me. If you feel really drawn to do energy healing come to one of my next two workshops; I'll teach you a powerful internal form, some movements, and have you doing introductory qi manipulation by the end of the workshop. You must then practice daily the forms you have learned DAILY and not attempt to use the projection techniques for 6 months, then use them with only a very few people for at least a year. Then, if you wish to continue and learn more advanced techniques you can enter my certification program or find someone else's program. I offer a 500 hour certification program in medical qigong.
  14. Yes, call 1-800-Taoist-Immortal Actually there is a dreaming qigong form. It helps a person awaken to who they really are in dreamtime. This practice carries through into normal awake hrs as well.
  15. Yes, but what I am saying is that in order to practice Listening as I define it a person has to raise their energy body vibrational rate. These vibrations are not in the "hearing" range.
  16. Difference between Tao and Zen?

This was my whole point that it is not, it is taiji.
  17. Difference between Tao and Zen?

Do you do energy healing (manipulation of qi) based only on your taiji practice? Have you compared an internal qigong form to what you feel when practicing your taiji? How do you know it is "working" for you if you haven't compared the two? Perhaps what you think is "working" is only a small small fraction of what it could be? But if that is what you are comfortable with, then OK.
  18. Well, you asked about energy healing on a Taoist forum; medical qigong IS the energy healing form from China. And one DOES NOT go around learning this hither thither but by studying it for a LONG time. Most programs are 3-4 years minimum. To "play around" with this is both dangerous to the person doing it AND to the person who is getting it done to them. And THIS is disturbing. What are playing around with...
  19. Difference between Tao and Zen?

Exactly! So learn a system designed for cultivation if you want to manipulate qi and a system designed for martial if you want to do martial. Taiji is not really designed for cultivation. Circulation, yes. And I am not speaking theoretically or from opinion but from personal learning of both internal qigong cultivation and Taiji and experience teaching hundreds of students from Tai Jee backgrounds. It is a matter of efficiency and what something is designed for and how well the design works.
  20. Do you REALLY think you are going to learn to do this from the internet? Would you like anyone to explain brain surgery in an internet post and then you go out and do it? It wouldn't be as potentially dangerous as telling you how to do medical qigong energy healing in a post then you go out and do it. There are some good medical qigong teachers all over the world. Find one.
  21. Difference between Tao and Zen?

If that is the case then anyone could say "hi ya" 3 times, turn around and punch air 4 times,t ake one step forward 3 steps backwards and repeat. As long as their intent was on healing or martial, then they would gather qi or be able to strike a person down from the act of doing this repeatedly. While I have no doubt that this would, over a period of time, actually help, the efficiency suffers greatly because the moves described has not much meaning toward martial or energy. While a system geared towards martial is much more efficient for martial because it uses newtonian physics to optimize strikes and a system designed to gather, store, and circulate energy is much more efficient for being able to manipulate energy because it is designed to interact with energy. And in the example I give in previous post above there is no intent change.
  22. Yes, you raised your energy body vibration rate. Yes it has everything to do with Tao. This "harmony in Tao" is the real Wu Wei. I speak of it in terms of synchronicity. Does it come from my teacher? Of course my teacher knew of this and that it would happen with the practice. But what happened to me and what you describe is the same. It was only after it happened that my teacher was willing to discuss it. Same with me. ( usually gives a good laugh when a student experiences it for the first time and while wild-eyed starts telling you this; my teacher laughed at me too) If I talk to my students about this too much then they are expecting something that in practice is different than what I could possibly tell them. Remember that I said in the book about "Listening"? This is the process that leads to this harmony in Tao. To best harness it is to keep practicing Listening. The more one practices the easier it gets. I have written before several examples of this. Later today I will try to find these or will post again. Perhaps I can give some examples from my students experiences.
  23. It is difficult to remember exactly what year I met him - several years ago. If I remember correctly he was supposed to be in his 80-90's then. But that would have placed him in 60's if your info is correct (I have no reason to doubt you). If so, then he didn't look (to me) extraordinarily healthy for a man in his 60's. But he still had some good qigong and martial arts. He is in Garipolli's movie, can't remember when he released that. I still thought he was a neat fellow. But not the first time I have seen these Chinese guys misrepresented (more ways than just age).
  24. Hard to answer, not just one thing. Who he (really) was? Who he studied with? His true developed compassion and desire to help humanity? How much and how many years he practiced? The type of system he practiced? His lack of ego? His developed virtue? How about all the above and more.
  25. If it hurts don't do them. If you have temporary soreness due to an unused muscle ask your doctor or your teacher. Sometimes going slower towards a goal is better than speeding towards it. What does your teacher have to say about this?
