If there is anyone on this site that can be called an authority on Tai Chi it is probably Buddy. I don't think anyone else has studied directly with BK Frantzis for 10 years, right?
-
Really? I never heard any feedback on that course except by Furey saying how great it is. What have you heard? It's like $300 for 3 DVD's, isn't it?
-
I agree with the ladies. If it's a hassle for you no big deal scrap it or take away 'moderator powers' but it's kind of nice to have a single thread where any practitioner can kind of keep track of what's going on in there own practice. I guess the blog feature could also be used for this but it seems people into the personal practice forum like that format. Again, if it's a hassle scrap it but I think otherwise best to leave it as it is.

I try to teach my 11 year old brother IMA. I showed him how to stand with one arm extended and do the unbendable arm. I might take Trunks advice and hook him up with rmax stuff or something.

Ive met some Bahai's. Nice people, seem peacful enough. But I am not interested in becoming one.

As a general rule of thumb I don't want to study with anyone who says we are in the "end times". I mean it's entertaining like an episode of Star Trek is entertaining. The part where he references qigong was sort of interesting though. I think he was saying qigong takes energy in from all of nature, stars etc and his meditation takes energy from another dimension. I asked Michael Winn about the merkaba years ago and he said it was a fire method(from Atlantis?!)and he felt Taoist practices were more balanced, grounded etc.
-
Doesn't he live in Arizona? Dolphins are from outer space and they figured out how to cure any virus...pretty wild stuff...but he would probably be an entertaining guy to get a coffee with.
-
Primordial Qigong is easy enough to learn from a DVD without personal instruction. Of course if you want to get personal instruction you can. I would definetly try it out for awhile and see what happens. I find it to be very heart centered and profound.

Cool! Kenny's disciple, Tom Morrissey, is here in Phoenix and a really cool teacher. Will get back to training early next year I hope. Cam

Ime thinking of returning to the Shing Yi training myself. That's cool you and I study in the same lineage Kieth. Though I didn't really learn much from one class besides this one saamchoy posture and a litte qigong. So you really think IMA can compete with modern MMA stuff and BJJ? I like to think this is true but it hasent really been proven. I just don't see any internal fighter standing in front of an 'external' fighter like Mirco Crocop or Chuck Lidell and doing too well. Too much physical power in the MMA guys. Also, probably some steroid use involved like other proffesional sports.

Yoda, Sean and I are are going on the 2008 China Trip with Michael Winn. It's like a month long(including 1 week meditating in Mt.Hua Shan) and also visiting Sacred Wudan Mountain(and other places). If any other Tao Bums are interested email Michael Winn to be put on the advanced list. [email protected] peace

I think it's cool to allow people here the space to express there opinions of different teachers and practices, even if they are in conflict with our own. Sean, I wouldn't presume to judge you or your teachers since I have no experience with them. I do have experience with M Winn and have learned some really, really cool practices from him. Ime not into teacher bashing. If you think your on the real path to Tao great. Hope you achieve your goals. Unfortunatly for you, my guess is most of the Tao Bums are people like you who need to experience for themselves, as you did spending time with Winn and then finding David Shen. But if anyone does follow through with your offer here I would definetly be interested in hearing any feedback. -
Lets Bat It Around Again-what Is Enlightenment
Cameron replied to thelerner's topic in General Discussion
I like David Twickens definition of Immortality. Realization and expression of your immortal spirit in every day life. Adyashanti, my "enlightenment" teacher, would probably just say "stop" or something -

Michael Winn's Response To Sean Denty On Ht

Ime not sure what your talking about. We did 2 Fusion workshops together and I never really practiced any of it. I have been doing qigong pretty regularly since then including some of the fundamentals stuff Winn teaches. I havent really gone deep into Winn's Alchemy training at all. This will be round 1. -

Interesting perspective. I'll need to study directly with Winn for awhile before reaching those conclusions but will keep you updated -
Michael Winn's Response To Sean Denty On Ht

I agree to a point Buddy and think alot of this finger pointing and judging an entire system by ones personal experience seems pretty narrow. If your drawn to Sean Denty/David Shen cool. If your drawn to BK Frantzis cool. Or Michael Winn or any other teacher. Cool thing about taobums we can share all this sutff without really having to defend any one system or teacher. I consider Michael one of my teachers though so wanted to atleast here his side of the story. Sean Denty was coming pretty strong against Winn's Alchemy practice. I am almost more interested in the aspect that calls one training truth and another lies as I am the training. I would probably need to go deep with any teacher myself before I consider myself in the high position to call what they are teaching "BS Taoism". But I guess it's entertaining. Hey! I have a cool idea. How about I practice Winn's stuff for the next 5 years and one of thetaobums studies David Shen's system for the next 5 years and then we can really have a nice reference and dialogue about the strengths and weaknesses of the different systems rather than just saying one is garbage and one is the truth? If Shen's system lacks that level of openness about it frankly I would rather study with Michael. Ime not really interested in the secret training with the secret master and would rather learn from Taoists who have learned to openly relate and teach in society. Cam -
Interesting video interviews that have been up for awhile on American Daoist cultivation. Includes perspectives by Michael Winn, Solola Towler, Roger Jahnke.. http://cultivation.daoiststudies.org/index.php

Don't have any experience with Solola or Jahnke just Michael. From what I see of them I like and will check out further.

I havent done much yoga or AYP, mostly qigong. I consider myself a beginner of the different paths I follow and not really in a position to comment how enlightenment may or may not change or be a complement to other practices. Have you checked out this Sailor Bob guy in Melbourne? Someone from my Adyashanti group mentioned him. I think he is supposed to be 'awake'. Better to direct questions to really, really qualified people I think. But I imagine the short answer would be "yes".
