  1. Royce or Hughes

Hughes was too strong and fast. You can have all the technique in the world not going to help you against a Lion.
  2. Who knows how long humans can really live. My guess is we have the potential to live for over 140 years or whatever the record is(barring of course, myths of Immortals who live until they are 1000 or something) from the Buddhist perspective focusing on longetivity is not where it is at so much as realizing it is a precious opportunity to be born a human since humans alone can become enlightened. Lately I have read some people saying animals got enlightened also. I don't know might be true. But it's still probably easiest for a human. Good luck on your taoist quest of longevity.
  3. why talk?

Hehe..sorry. Yoda left me a message after i did that .I think he probably had written more than anyoone after me in there so sorry if I erased anyones stuff they wanted saved. I am sorot of the fence about even having the personal online jounral. Yes, it's fun and it's mostly just us friends chatting anyway but when I think about it in terms of my life it is still just such a limited format in scope. And probably partly even ego driven. Something about NOT spouting off opinions of what I want or don't want or think is valuable or not is appealing to me right now. So if your not prepeared to burn up all your precious views write in my journal at your own peril! LOL! Cam

Actually Matt is only 7 years younger and the weighed in at about the same weight(175). But I get your point.
  5. why talk?

Since I was stranded in my apartment last 4 days detoxing I have done very little talking. I ignored most of my cell calls and didn't make any. It's interesting because in the space of 4 days I have only spoken for a few seconds and I notice there is a higher level of clarity to what I am expressing. When your talking all day long you just get into this mode of chattering whether something needs to be said or not. It's probably useful to do spiritual retreat like they do in zen where you do no talking from time to time. That's why I was thinking of doing atleast 1 week long retreat a year starting next year. It's funny, though I don't feel like calling people, I am on this forum writing posts. I pretty much look at it as the same. Writing, talking expressing yourself. Cam ps. If your seriously interested in getting to those levels of non verbal communication don't the Aboriginies know alot about that?
  6. Royce or Hughes

Yes, I am sure many people will eat those Xycience bars(or pills) when they don't have time for there proper country breakfasts. Atleast he's not as bad as Shamrocks coach who says it's all about eating your steak and chicken. Cam
  7. Well, they do zhan zhuang 24 hrs a day...also being deeply plugged in to Mother Earth can't be bad.
  8. eating karma

I am still on the fence about this issue. My instincts are telling me vegetarianism is better for you healthwise, emotinally and spiritually but I wouldn't take an extreme stance that it's 100% best for all human beings. Here is a Buddhist site on vegetarianism you might find interesting. http://www.veggiedharma.org/default.php

water therapy, yeah another good one. I am finding with what I am doing now many glasses of water throughout the day is better but might try it out again. All sorts of info in that at http://sakthifoundation.org/

Hughes by brutal Ground and Pound. It was actually sad to watch.
  12. Royce or Hughes

So, we're going to Tavern on the Green, right?
  13. Royce or Hughes

Agreed. Aikido is far superior for multiple attackers. Actually, I would seriously doubt ever using BJJ in a street fight and am sure I would use either strikes or what I learned in Aikido.
  14. Royce or Hughes

Ok..I'll go with Hughes..whoever loses buys dinner in NYC, deal?
  15. Royce or Hughes

I don't recall saying Hughes..but if I was betting I would bet Hughes..his only weakness before was getting caught in submissions and he worked on that alot. Rocyce us still a Gracie and can submit anyone any day of the week but Matt's stregth and athleticism may too much. Remember Royce only one those early UFC's because no one knew Gracie Jiu Jitsu. Now all the top fighters know JJ. Cam
  16. eating karma

What kind of diet does Master Nan or Bodri do?
  17. eating karma

I mean...you have to eat something. There is the absolute and the relative. I can't judge I have eaten meat most of my life anyway.

Yeah, remember you and Rosinke saying you watch that. Just trying to lighten myself up a litte and don't think bad thought about everyone I disliked since childhood
  20. eating karma

Max actually answered this for me quite well provately. it's not that you fear karma from doing something .It's the "good" feeling you get from causing less suffuring to sentient beings. Buddhism doesn't really beleive in a personal self anyway so if your doing something or not doing something out of fear for your own future your waaaaaaay of track in Buddhist terms. If your really enlightnend, it won't be an issue about eating an animal it's as if the animal is YOU and YOU are casuing YOUSELF to SUFFER. I am not dogmatic about any of this as I don't experience all of life as ME(yet) but thats' kind of the direction Bodhisattvas are at(from my small understanding). IMO. BTW..I am not a fan of 'forcing' anything if something isn't arising spontanuosly Ime not really into it .I have as much faults and garbage as anyone but I am not doing anything out of any sense of right and wrong. In my first few days of not eating meant, I got a subtle feeling of peace inside. It is very subtle but it there. So I am doing an experiment. I could easily be eating steak in a couple weeks!
  21. The Process Called "Death"

My understanding is quite small but it seems that there are many different experiences to have. I think(from my puny understaadning) that the zen or Dharma thing is to basically dissolve the barrier between "you" and "the universe" to the point that there is no longer twoness, only oneness. I think if your living at that level of oneness issues like life and death, male and female, this and that, sort of resolve themselves. I am nowhere near that level so can only speculate. And of course Alchemical Taoists like michael Winn talk about Imortality as the process of fusing the different shen spiritus of the body into one and this is like a yang vehicle or something theat you can use and take with you after death. Again, my experience is quite puny. I think if you follow a path you FOLLOW IT. you don't DABBLE. You know, some alchemy, some zen, whatever .That doesn't mean those things or those practices may not spontaneouly arise but to really resolve this issues I think it has to be a burning question that attracts you to the right teacher to resolve the question. That question, according to some, is pretty much the same question Sakyamuni Buddha asked on his spirituals earch. Why do beings suffer? Why do beings die? What is death? In a way..it's kind of like motivation Cam
  22. Linear Time

Dogen has some interesting teachings about time. http://www.zenki.com/time01.htm#UJI
  23. Transmission

Auto .How am I supposed to talk to Yoda on my cell, drive and shift gears at the same time. But deep down inside I know manual is cooler. Camster
  24. Anyone here trained in tm?

He's an interesting guy. His approach to emtiness cultivation has a more masculine feeling. I am currently more attracted to the feminine approach to teaching and viewing emptiness cultivation but his approach is probably useful to some people too. I am not comfortable with the judging of peoples "spiritual level" but he seems to have a calling for that sort of thing. The Christian cultivation stages is interesting too and I'll probably give "Measuring Meditation" another look when I have time. Cam

I have eaten a spinach salad for luch for last few days and the difference in my energy during the day is very noticable. Also, colors are more vivid and alive. I am seriously debating buying the blend tec right now..
