The Foundation training is actually comparable price wise to other authentic Taoist training I am familiar with. Master Chen is a Wudang Longmen Pai Priest and his his 3 day course "The Master Within" here in Atlanta next month is $800. I think the last Foundation training that took place in Oregon was something like $1400 for a week of training. By comparison, the Kunlun workshop is inexpensive at $300 for two days. But if you develop a realationship with an authentic Taoist Master and don't have to pay them more power to you. Though even then some form of payment is probably good as a form of gratitude.

Sean, Will you guys be doing another US seminar next year? Any chance of bringing Jiang Sifu to the states? I thought I remember you mentioning you wanted to do that at some point. Cam

Wang Liping I am guessing this is him. Sean Denty met him in person so he can confirm the pic if he wants to I guess.

Yes, you would think the water refers to sexual fluids. Though I don't really know if that's correct.

That's it Now...what does it mean?

Yeah, Max mentioned several times that Aikido is a good mix with Kunlun. Then again, probably any qigong or spiritual path is a good mix with Aikido

It definetly has a magnetic quality to it. Not sure how else to explain it. When one of Max's students was projecting it towards me a few months ago it felt like a really strong magnetic field was surrounding me. Max played some Kunlun games with us last weekend and he stood behind me while my back was facing a tree. I didn't go flying into the tree but I did feel a subtle magnetic pull me back an inch or two. Some students seem to be more sensitve to it than others. Like, his older students like Kan just go flying in all directions when they get hit by kunlun. It's possible Max also projects the energy more strongly towards his long time students also(or they are just more senstive to it).

Such a huge topic. I spoke with a Longmen Pai Taoist about this a few weeks ago and her response was something like "fullness of jing leads to qi, fullness of qi leads to shen, fullness of shen leads to Tao, and that's where we want to be" I am still pretty shaky on it myself. There is that famous Taoist painting, I forgot the name. With the yin yang symbol and water wheels at the bottom and you go up and I think there is a monk in meditation and then Bodhidharma and Lao Tzu at the top. In any case, I would be interested in hearing others views on this.

Hi Mantis, Not sure why you posted about Master Chen's training in the John Chang thread but I met a disciple of his a few weeks ago. It is pretty traditional training. That is to say, the training seems to be based on a very close teacher/student realationship and you wouldn't learn the alchemy before doing some basic classes first(and he gets to know you). The disciple of Master Chen that I met is moving to Wudang Mountain to train full time for two years with Master Chen(who is now back on Wudang Mountain). He will be in Atlanta for a week next month. Since I live here I will try to catch a class or two if possible. Cam

So does this mean you still leave some room for the possibilty of these things existing but are just skeptical? I was under the impression you thought those type of abilities are totally fabricated with no wiggle room for doubt. Being skeptical is understandable. My guess is Sean D would still say yes in the face of the sword due to his strong faith in these things, am I right Sean? ps. I think it's totally acceptable to be in the "I don't know" camp. Probably alot of us are still at that point with this stuff.

Yes, really great guy. And you really get to know someone doing a fun road trip. I knew Yoda had become a Kunlun devotee but didn't realize just how far things had gone until he was about to pull over on a busy highway in the middle of the night to do Kunlun. Yoda:"Dude it's 3 am!...ancestor hour! I need to pull over to do Kunlun!!" Cam:"Just drive down a couple more minutes..I am sure there will be an exit where we can practice." Also, I don't know if anyone else would have been on the level to go see Harold and Kumar 2 in the middle of a spiritual workshop. f8PiSUJtHMA&feature=related

I remember Adyashanti gave a good test to see where you stand with things. Someone at a satsang said they were sure our govenrment had something to do with 9/11. Adyashanti asked do you think they did or do you know? The guy answered he felt he knew. Adyashanti said let me rephrase the question, let's say I have a sword. If you answer incorrectly I cut your head off. I ask if you really know. The guy said he didn't really know in that case. What we have here are two people that I think would be willing to answer the question with the sword and all that. My guess is if you asked Sean Denty if the abilities demonstrated by John Chang and others are real or not with his life on the line he would answer yes, and would be willing to die in his faith. I also think if his life was on the line Buddy would answer no, it's not real, whether from his faith or scientific understanding, he is that firm about it. I would say most of us don't have this level of faith yet. I certainly don't. In my mind those things might be possible, but there is no way I could say they are true or not if my life was on the line.

In my case, if I try to think too much about the Tao Bums realationship with Max it doesn't work, just enjoy it. And about my Max workshops, 3 out of the 5 workshops Max and company came to me while I was living in Arizona I didn't have to go anywhere to see them. So it was pretty much a no brainer. Cam

BEst way to build the yang energy in dantian
Cameron replied to Trash Filter's topic in General Discussion
You really need a teacher imo. Longmen Pai seems to talk more about this aspect than other schools. If you can't afford David Shen there is another Longmen teacher named Master Chen that is doing a workshop in Atlanta next month. Mind you, this doesn't necessarily mean your going to learn to fill "fill your tan tien" or whatever but would be a first step in studying with a genuine Taoist teacher in the Longmen Pai. link -
A Kunlun practitioner recently pm'd me asking about standing practice. I recommended she read Ken Cohen's book but what are the other good books on standing practice? I glanced over The Way of Energy by Master Lam which looked excellent. Any other recommendations?

I like Yoda's philosophy. But make sure you file your tax returns they just gave the actor Wesley Snipes 3 years for not doing his taxes!!

My impression is Gold Flower is not as important in Max's system as Kunlun and Red Phoenix. If their is a progression it seems it is for people who have been doing Kunlun level 1 and Red Phoenix to eventually learn and practice Red Phoenix Level 2 and then Level 3. But it's tricky for him to teach RP 2 and 3 because for many people at the workshops it's the first workshop and it's enough for them just to learn RP1. Max had told me to ask him to teach me RP 2 and possibly 3. I had time to ask him to teach me those practices in Sedona but felt K1 and RP1 were enough at that time. What would be cool is if he could do a seperate class and teach those of us that have been practicing awhile(but still basically all beginners) RP2 and 3. But maybe their will be time constraints and that would need to wait for a more advanced workshop, will see I guess. I am in no rush and mostly just do standing meditation every day and K1 a few days a week.

August Leo and AriesAnne, the Kunlun dynamic duo. I will probably still be working on grounding after they have turned into light or something NJ will be my 5th. From what I recall the main points he taught 1st workshop-Kunlun 1 and Red Phoenix 1 2nd workshop-Mao Shan 5 elements standing, Kunlun, Red Phoenix, Golden Flower mudra 3rd workshop-I Jong, Kunlun, Red Phoenix, Gold Flower,Method to combine Kunlun and Red Phoenix together 4th workshop-I Jong, Kunlun, Red Phoenix, Gold Flower, Method to combine Gold Flower and Kunlun Also, he taught the spirit/dream travel technique at all the workshops. ps. I consider myself a total beginner at Max practice. If anything my experience from the first workshop to the 4th is going more into a beginners mind. Trying to think about Max practices don't work well for me. Just do them or don't. Also, I have experienced some cool things but still would say I am at a low level and nowhere near some other students.

Joeblast too. He is mixing the Foundation training with Kunlun. Maybe he will become the first Lei Shan Dao/Golden Dragon hybrid Though it sounds like David Shen says it would be best to focus exclusively on Foundation if he moves to the second stage of Foundation. Ohh...Craig Porter too. He started Kunlun before all of us and posts here occasionally.

The Wire was good. Really heavy though(drugs, murder, kids killing eachother) HBO has made some really great shows the last few years.

Probably would be good not to do them back to back. Maybe do your Tai Chi in the morning and Hatha at night, or vice versa. Or just generally keep them seperate. Then again, maybe yoga would be a good warm up for tai chi, so hard to say for sure.
