"Death Before Dying" / Psychosis in Training
Cameron replied to Jill Morgyn's topic in General Discussion
Probably this is why many qigong teachers emphasize relaxation and developing the lower tan tien connection first. So when you move into the higher aspects of consciousness you have a strong anchor in everyday reality. My limited experience is it's better to go slowly. Even if you are doing the most profound practice that leads to enlightenment in one lifetime what's the point if you can't integratate it into your life? Of course, once you have already developed qigong pschycosis or kundalini syndrome and moving farther out into la la land that's something else. That probably comes from a lack of responsibilty on the part of the teacher or student. I remember on the old HT board reading about students who apparently were "losing it" because they did too much or did practices that were too advanced for them. Of course, let's be realistic we are doing practices that can shake our entire paradigm. Nobody said this would be easy or comfortable. To suddenly have the rug of your reality pulled out from underneath you can probably either be a wonderful, joyous or nightmarish experience depending on where you are at. As far as I can tell the best thing is to have regular contact with an enlightened(or on the path to that), caring teacher if you are doing energy practices and listen to his/her advice. Without that, it is probably best not to practice or just stick with basic practices that most people agree are safe, like Tai Chi or something. -
What Max calles I Jong is just simple standing with arms releaxed at the sides. Most of the 5 Elements postures the arms are raised. They are pretty easy to learn but when I learned them I was still going through a really intense time from the initial Kunlun practice/transmission. I had way too much energy in my system, only sleeping a couple hrs a night, so just wasn't in a good place to do standing. Now I sleep atleast 8 hrs a night and stand I Jong pretty regulalry or occasionally do an Yiquan set Ken Cohen teaches. I do remember the first Mao Shan posture is arms straight out to the sides with palms facing down. Another one the hands are in front of the tan tien etc.

Yoda is being sarchastic. He doesn't want to do 5 elements standing. He is all about the niwan development and tripping out. But folks like me who appreciate being centered and grounded would really like it if we could review Mao Shan 5 again.

Hi jan, Just wanted to add if you do make it to NJ your welcome to stay with Yoda and I. We are getting a room at the hotel Max is doing the workshop. So, if your comfortable sleeping in a sleeping bag or whatever that's cool with Yoda and I. We are staying Friday night and Saturday night checking out Sunday. Cam

Ok I can't make it to Europe but that would be awesome I am sure. I guess if he is coming to your city not that big a deal to make it to NJ? That's alot of flying since he's coming to you. But that is some serious dedication if you make it, good luck!

Would be nice to review it. Only thing if there are alot of beginners there might be too streneous and better Max just teaches I Jong. My vote would be to relearn Maoshan 5 though, I only remember like a couple of the postures and forgot the order to practice them. I do I Jong pretty regulalry. You realize Max will be doing a 2 month European tour after NJ right?

Looks like I will be able to come to NJ! Just waiting to here if Yoda is going to make it now. So who all is coming besides the great AugustLeo and Joeblast?
-
I wonder how many people are doing Kunlun now from the workshops? When they get the discussion going probably will be alot of people chatting on there.
-
I just hope it get's done before AugustLeo goes into Gold Dragon Body transformation mode. Which at this rate might not happen in time! Atleast hang in there until you see Max in NJ buddy!

I really liked the series Rome on HBO. You can buy it on DVD. Also, new show Cities of the Underworld on History channel is good. http://www.history.com/minisites/citiesoftheunderworld

I just moved back to Atlanta. I practice Kunlun Nei Kung. You can check it out at http://www.kunlunbliss.com/ They are having the last USA workshop for awhile in NJ in a month. It's a really simple enlightenment practice you can do on your own but recieve a powerful transmission at the workshop. You might also check out http://traditionaltao.com/ they do retreats in China with very high level teachers. But if you hear of any Taoist Masters in Ga let me know Cam

I think that's right. Haven't heard anything about that though.

I don't think he teaches the full Mao Shan 5 anymore. But basic standing with arms at the sides. Atleast the last 2 workshops in Arizona that's how he taught it. Probably that's better as I remember alot of people were having difficulty and shaking knees just with basic standing without raising the arms. I thought I remember Mantra68 saying they were putting out a book on Maoshan standing but that was a few months ago.

Wow, just catching up with this great event on Youtube. Oprah is really doing tremendous work bringing Tolle's teachings to the masses. hB8FkOSDD3Q&feature

So Yoda is threating to drive up to the NJ workshop!! Maybe we can make it for saturday!

You might be right

It's a deep question, probably no simple answer. Maybe some authentic Nei Kung methods fast forward or speed up the ability to sit in stillness. Every system has thier own approach. I still do qigong/nei kung. Probably I am addicted to the practices I have learned at this point, but was wondering who thought they are a sidetrack from just simple emptiness meditation(ie, being quiet and watching your mind, without any technique).

I like the title of one of his books, "What's Wrong With Right Now? Unless You Think About It." And in case you didn't already know you can hear alot of Bob on the Advaita Show.
