A Max East Coast retreat summer or late 2008 would be awesome. I always feel out of it for a few days after a Max workshop so hopefully after a few months of Kunlun and the opportunity to go deeper with the practice many of us would be ready for that sort of thing. Sounds like a thread that should take place on the Max forum in future months.

Does physical exercises cultivate chi?

Interestingly that dude looks like a skinny O'Sensei. The undeafeted peacful Samurai Master who I aspire to be like. Even if you become the biggest bad ass martial artist who ever lived capable of throwing people with 1 finger you can still be a peacful warrior and not get into internet fights. *hits American Spirit peace pipe and prepares for evening Kunlun sesshin which I am well suited for as my friend WYG has said* -

WYG. This is all in your mind bro. I really don't have a problem with you. Frankly, I wouldn't spar or grapple or whatever you want to call it with someone who is legitemetly angry at me(as you appear to be). I would do it as a learning experience. Maybe you can kick my ass. I don't know. For all I know you are the Australian version of Frank Shamrock Peace man. And if we ever meet we can drink some tea and I will patiently listen to your thoughtful feelings about Kunlun. Ok?! Challenge dropped! Now that I have made peace with you if you can make an effort to not diss the practice or teacher many of us study that would also be appreciated. Thanks, Cam I was. Then he started talking about 'do or die' or something. Apparently we have encountered a cultural misunderstanding here. I think WYG was interpreting what I said about sparring as some sort of showdown like in the old west where only one of us walks away To me sparring is the equivelent of wrestling, boxing, mma whatever. I have no intention of seriously doing damage to anyone or subsequently being seriously hurt. Cam -
Ime down. It will probably be a few months for me to get back on my feet but in the summer or later in the year I am there. Max mentioned the possibilty of doing a Taobums exclusive retreat. I think if we can get the core group of Taobums who are doing Kunlun together on the future Kunlun board to committ to it it would be great to do a week long retreat with Max somewhere on the East coast. Are you serious? I am a peacful guy. If I was going to fight you my intention wouldn't be to beat you up or kill you it would either be as a competitive(friendly) match or to defend myself. If that is what you are fishing for am a little distrubed by your attitude. Do or die? This is a spiritual cultivation forum and you call yourself Taoist. I am down to spar..sparring is not do or die. Generally people stop if someone get's seriously hurt or injured. I won't be visiting Australia anytime soon. And if I did it wouldn't be to see you. Your intent is in the wrong place my friend. -

I have no clue about what? Fighting? I have done martial arts for over 10 years but am not a streetfighter. Your disrespectful bs you have spilled here repeatedly over the last months doesn't even remotely resemble the calm, respecftul demeanor of any top martial artists I have met(I have met quite a few). So I won't take your word for it I am suited for Kunlun and enjoy the practice very much. Thanks. -
No problem!

Hi Wu Liu. I am aware that a student of Wudang Taoist Master Tseng teaches in Atlanta. And from what I understand Master Tseng regularly does workshops there. You can check that out at wudangtao.com The Atlanta school is here http://www.risingphoenixtaichi.com/id11.html Also, alot of us are practicing Kunlun from Kunlunbliss.com. You can purchase the book for $15. Cam

The thing is most of this isn't really accurate. You can do Foundation Training or a sort of pre foundation training with one of David Shen's students in Oregon next month and the price isn't 10k. I don't know how much it is, but one of our regular posters here Joeblast just signed up for it. He just did the Max Kunlun workshop in Phoenix also(Go Joe!) So they sort of set it up where you can do this training here in the US for less money and is something like a week long retreat. My guess is that after you did that retreat you would get an accurate enough sense if the China trip or whatever the next phase of there training is for you or not. I am looking forward to hearing Joe's feedback in his journal after he does the retreat. Cam

Yeah. When Kan(Max's student) briefly waved his hands over me a couple months ago it literally felt like my front channel was going to explode. I had no expectations at all. So what do you call that? A high level healer like Kan can effect your energy(for me it was unmistakeable..like an intense pressure literally pushing my blocks on my front channel down into the lower abdomen) and he didn't even touch me. I just don't see how I could say there isn't something to the qi thing after that. -
From what I have seen most high level teachers don't teach the microcosmic orbit. Max talks about it but not really as a practice. More like if you practice Kunlun those energies open up on there own. Sean Denty even mentioned doing MCO would be a negative if you ever want to pursue Foundation Training. Or that the MCO most people practice isn't the correct practice. Intuitively, it seems to me emhasizing a good foundation practice like Kunlun, standing meditation, sitting and forgetting etc for an extended period(until your mind is silent of thought) is the way to go more than playing around with circulations. But this topic has been discussed to death over the years already with people with strong opinions on both sides of the fence. Cam

I think I will do BJJ when I move back to ATL. Or should I do Aikido? LOL AY8JlJZBgCk

That's Bagua? Looks like Judo. I thought Bagua involved large circular movements around your opponent, more like Aikido?

Have you tried long brisk walks?

Cool. Well, thanks for clarifying further then -
I'll be there this weekend. Will stay with Mom for a few months and figure out what I am going to do with my life. I have some business opportunuties I want to check out. Need to get a job and get a new car. If you guys visit I probably can't put you up as it's my Mom's place not mine. But if you want to come to ATL to party and are driving before you leave I will let you drive me to the bars!

Thanks for clarifying your position on qi Buddy. I remember Ken Cohen write somewhere all true qigong Masters focus on Yi and not Qi. Yi leads qi. So your approach makes sense. I guess qi is just an easy way of describing the life energy itself. Probably a simpler thing to say is Yi leads breath. Or even attention leads the breath. So your basically just not into the mystical, mumbo jumbo, sorcery, Taoist Magic, Taoist Wizard, Shaman type of stuff at all and prefer to keep it as totally simple and free of mystical sounding stuff as possible, is this correct? I actually do respect this position quite a bit. Except I still feel a cool, magnetic energy when I practice kunlun. And I can't very well call this cool magnetic feeling that seems to move my body on it's own(even when I resist I actually forcefully resisist sometimes in my practice and the kunlun literally pushes me to move) I can't call that attention or breath. And Yi doesn't sound right either. So if you think Kunlun is bs that is cool with me. But that Kunlun is derived from some esoteric source outside the scope of general understanding and transmitted to the student by a Master via some mysterious process that I don't know how it works is the only thing that makes sense to me at the moment. As esoteric, Taoist wizard, mumbo jumbo sounding as that is -
Cool. I only practiced Kunlun a very short time before getting transmission. But am glad to here people are getting results from practicing from the book alone. I think from your initital results you will be on the floor laughing when you get to finally see Max

Arizona is beautiful. I might move back someday. If you liked Az also check out New Mexico, beautiful place.

Costa Rica!? Wow. Well, with your business you can be anywhere in the world I suppose. Are you moving there full time or more like a vacation home? Do you need a passport to visit there? When I was thinking of doing a retreat in Mexico last year I was suprised you needed a passport to visit, which can take months to get. Or are Costa Rican laws different? A house! Nice. You probably can get alot more for your money and a beautiful location I bet. edit-doh, you posted pics after I wrote this. Awesome location for culitvation and the Sean party lifestlye!

Jan, have you done the workshop and gotten transmission from Max yet? If not, your the one to sit next to when you go!

LOL!! Sure man, whatever you want. I think you are motivating me to drop IMA and go back to BJJ now, hehe. No waivers. Jesus I don't want to kill you bro. Tapping you out will be sufficient -
Sean, your wisdom in setting up a private forum is making more and more sense to me. I am glad the Kunlun forum will be private so we don't have to deal with this silliness. Cam
