Maybe some of us will get sick now we have posted here... I have noticed that if you talk big of yourself, your practice or achievements, you often meet a fall. Just the Tao reminding you to keep down to earth. Sounds superstitious but I think there is more to it than that, if the mind is allowed to feel inflated then it can lose track of what is really important (in this case health). Stay healthy people

If you have a vasectomy then sperm is still made by the body but re-absorbed. Reading articles on vasectomies will tell you that sperm is constantly being re-absorbed when in excess, the weaker older sperm are absorbed and re built into new ones. As for if retaining it does much for you, you could ask someone who has had a vasectomy. After the operation they can still ejaculate but not the actual sperm - so it's not quite the thing but about as scientific as i can think of.
