  1. GOT does sound interesting to me. Help my plate is full - how much time do each of you practice. Please don't answer as much as you want.
  2. Turning vegetarian - need advice

I have been a vegetarian since 1968 - no meat no chicken no fish. One can be a vegetarian or eat flesh and be healthy or not healthy. It really depends on the quality of what you put into your body. There are people who have become vegetarians, eaten junk food, gotten sick blamed it on being vegetarian, and like born agains go completely in the opposite direction, never taking into account all the sick people who eat meat. ( You know who you are LOL) Then they come up with all sorts on nonsense diets. $$$ To be healthy it is more important to pay attention to what you don't eat rather than what you eat. The more crap you don't eat the healthier you will be. Read those labels!
  3. Relationships: help or hindrance of path

It's like the Tao - The relationship that can be explained is not a relationship
  4. Calling Hard-Style Martial Artists

Problem is they have to stop fighting early on and they wind up having a lot of pain and physical problems.
  5. Many years ago I worked with the koan - What is the sound of one hand clapping? I was focused on it when a car horn sounded and I knew the answer inside. I actually heard the sound of one hand clapping. It is beyond words. Something in me changed, people would ask my advice, be attracted to me and i knew the answers to alltheir questions. After a while it faded and here i am on Tao Bums
  6. Haiku Chain

Accept the charges? Acceptance, following Tao Wu wei all the way
  7. the Tao isn't taoist

As the saying goes: He who knows knows not, he who knows not knows
  8. the best thing to do is schedule your office time when it suits you best and see what happens. You can always adjust your schedule.
  9. since you can rent by the half day, instead of renting 2 full days maybe try 4 half days and this way you can see which days attract more people. My schedule is such that I am able to do Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday. I try to make my appointments between 2pm and 4pm that would be for things like dental or eye checkups. HOWEVER, if I need or really want to see a practitioner for a specific problem I will juggle my schedule to get an appointment. Many practitioners here are open after normal working hours to accommodate people who work 9 - 5.(NYC) One thing you might do is see what hours other types of practitioners are open in your area or what are the times that are booked where you plan to rent - odds are these are the good hours.
  10. Purifying a Space

Once you have purified your room put your things away in a neat fashion. That includes the contents of drawers and closets.

  13. A Taoist is one acts appropriately in any given moment, and of course has a sense of humor
  14. My recipe: be aware of your breath and toss in a little peripheral vision
  15. Nice quote. A Taoist is not, cannot be separate from Tao, an idiot is part of Tao therefore
  16. The Taoist that can be described is not a Taoist
  17. I dare not eat meat.

Some Brahmins eat meat is different than all Brahmins eat meat. Some Jews eat, pork and scavenger fish. Does this mean all Jews eat pork and scavenger fish. Some priests are not celibate. Does this mean all priests are not celibate. Are we using these as excuses to do what we wish to do. If you wish to eat meat eat meat why do you need to rationalize
  18. Juice: Radical Taiji Energetics

Fixed step push hands is a stepping stone to moving push hands. First one has to learn the basics. Fixed is also good for grounding. My teacher also prefers the yin approach. He says it is a higher way.
