You will never learn to swim if you don't get wet even if you spend your whole life reading and philosophizing about swimming. However, you can go on line and believe you are great swimmer your only fooling yourself

Stiffen is not quite the correct term. More like adding energy. Stiffen is a no no. You tell them TM

When one is sung there is no tension- one is relaxed NOT LIMP. To be relaxed in this manner is to have ones muscles supporting with minimum effort. When on is song there is flowing movement - smooth - faster reaction time. One must also be sung mentally. You cannot be sung if you are in your head - you have to be in your tantien. If your mind is rigid it will translate into your body and the way you carry yourself. One can think they are sung if they play by themselves, however, the first sign of confrontation or interaction with others goodbye song - hello stiffness. Like the holy man who thinks he is in a high state - comes down from the mountain and someone steps on his foot and he gets pissed off. Whew words words words

Thanks TM as you might have already guessed i am not a man of many words

One should also find a teacher for death Anyway me thinks this is a silly topic as everyone is different - every situation is different A very un Taoist question A teacher of death is very important

She could try stopping the meds and bear the pain and there's a good chance she will detox and the headaches will stop mYTHISmAKER used to get terrible migraine headaches - she was taking advil or some variation. The doctor told her that at some point the advil causes the migrains. it sets up a cycle. She went cold turkey and within a week the migraines were gone - hardly ever gets them anymore.

How many non practitioners live past 90 and are able to move and be as good a shape as taiji practitioners. You must take in total life style and genetics to pass judgement. Re spiritual masters I think they have balanced tantiens' They are usually very grounded - here and now - while being in the so called upper realms Diet is important - However i am a vegetarian and am very grounded. Everything is a combination of many factors There are ungrounded as well as grounded in all diet types

Insects survive the rain using Tai Chi principles

i was referring to the idea that mosquito's can feel the air movement ahead of the raindrop. I know they land on you and are slower -

I haven't had the time or patience to read all the 'discussion' in detail so this may have been covered. Mosquito's most likely are able to sense the raindrop coming their way by a change in the air ahead of the drop - maybe it causes a wind It's very hard to swat a fly possibly for the same reason What do the Chinese classics have to say about this -

IMHO it is always good to have a teacher no matter how long one has been playing. There is always something, some nuance, to be learned or improved upon. With little exception there is always someone who knows more than you do, or has a better understanding of whatever it is one is learning. For instance dancers and singers, no matter how good or famous they are, all of them have teachers and coaches. Others are able to see things we can't see in ourselves.
