70% in range of movement so you don't hurt yourself. As your movement range increases your 70% increases but is still 70%. I don't think he is using the 70% example when it comes to time and effort put into practice. -
Congratulations !!!! :)

Constipation is diet related. If you can sit for 1 hour before feeling pain in your knees how about sitting for 45 minutes or a point before pain starts. Gradually you may be able to increase the time before you feel pain or not. May blessings and common sense be poured upon us!

I guess we take "you're funny" as a compliment and not at all self conscious about it.
-
"you're too much!" It's idiomatic - hard to explain but if you speak the language you understand it. A lot depends on context and tone of voice. If you make a joke or do something funny - it's a compliment like saying you're really funny If you are a pain or annoying it's sarcastic or a put down It can also mean you are too much to handle or bother with. Another meaning

For basic balance of strength and alignment I recommend Pilates. and keep doing zhan zang

The trick IMHO is to gently put your attention on your tan tien and your breath will go there. A little at a time until it becomes habitual. Don't focus strongly. Breath follows mind. Placing your attention is similar to having your attention go to an itch -it happens- wu wei

A sage manages to be first by being last by not being selfish - therefore he is first in the hearts of others The good man is the teacher of bad men because he knows no distinction between men - in his eyes all men are inherently the same.

If it leaches anything it is inorganic minerals - not organic and it is not a problem. I have been using one for about 15 years. One thing is interesting I take three glasses of water 1 tap 2 filtered 3 filtered and distilled You can really taste the difference Filtered is lighter and sweeter than tap and distilled even lighter and sweeter. Spring water is a lovely idea - just have it tested as there is so much underground pollution these days. Even rainwater can be loaded with heavy metals - again a lot of pollution
-
A lot of bottled water is hype. In fact some of it is no better than tap water. We have a distiller.

Yes always reciprocate

Wasn't thinking of it as your problem. Was just curious how where one breaths from affects heart rate and if anyone did an experiment that would show up on a monitor.
-
The affect is not always positive in anything / everything/ we undertake. So what else is new
-
I think where you are breathing from might affect heart rate i.e tan tien vs higher up. Has anyone experimented with this. Qi gong - tai chi - weight training.

Consensus on the details of zhan zhuang posture

"My taiji teacher tells me to be more on the heels of the foot so as to keep from exerting pressure on the kidney 1 point yongquan. I have seen elsewhere that some recommend that you do the exact opposite and do put weight on the yongquan point." One possibility is that you are standing too far forward on your feet and he wants you to move your weight back more to the heels so your weight is distributed properly over your whole foot. i.e put more weight on your heels. -
That is why one needs a teacher to check for proper alignment. Learning from books - DVD's is not the way to go unless one has very good understanding of what is going on in their body. For instance if a head is turned slightly to the right as a normal position it will feel straight on. When you correct your head to center it will feel as though it is turned to the left and not centered. Knees slightly out of alignment - torso slightly twisted - chin up or down too much - shoulders hiked - legs not the proper distance apart. A few of the many possibilities that can cause problems. A man goes to a tailor to get a suit. He tries on the suit. Tells the tailor a sleeve is too long- the tailor tells him to hike up his shoulder and the sleeve is a perfect length. He tells the tailor the pant leg is too short - tailor tells him to lean to one side and keep his knee bent. He tells the tailor the jacket isn't level on the left side the tailor tells him to bend ant twist a bit. So the man is walking down the street as best he can and two women see him. The first one says look at that poor crippled man. The second says yes but his suit fits so well. He must have a wonderful tailor. So it is important to find a good teacher
