    Your diet sounds pretty good. Stay away from all forms of sugar they can be debilitating. Fruit sugars in their natural form are good. Blood work is important in order to see if you have any deficiencies.

    I would go to a doctor who specializes in sports medicine to find out exactly what the problem is. Most likely he/she will give you a prescription for physical therapy. You will then be given specific exercises for strengthening the muscles around you knees and correction of your posture and method of walking. After that perhaps Pilates.

    My maximum time standing -arms relaxed at sides was an hour and a half. I was so rooted - stuck?- I couldn't move. I would think I'm going to move but I was unable to do so. My teacher had to pull my arms and pat my legs to get me moving. I did an hour for a number of years and reduced it to half an hour plus 3 - minutes santi - due to other practices.

    Of course they should. Are you willing to do whatever it is you do for nothing? Funny this question never comes up with body work, yoga, music lessons, personal training, etc.

    IMHO It is always best to go to a store where you can try out the foam to see if it works for you. A high density foam should last a long time. A lot of them come with guarantees of how long the foam is good for. Ours is over 10 years old and in good condition. We have a 6 inch very firm foam which we topped off with a wool pad. You can turn the mattress so it wears evenly if that is your concern. We don't bother.

    The futon as most of us know it is a western version - Original real futons are very thin and can be easily folded and put away in a cabinet- closet after each use. They are used in layers to determine comfort level. They are not the heavy clumsy western version. I found one in between the two many years ago about 2 inches thick. Still not the real thing but easier to handle. So a firm foam mattress on the floor or a raised platform may be just as good.

    You may think you eat healthy food but you still may be eating too much or not enough of something. Many people think they are eating healthy when in fact they are eating crap. I was diagnosed with hypoglycemia and agoraphobia - lot of trouble functioning Luckily I was recommended to a nutritionist and within a month or so i was out there and haven't looked back. I thought i was eating healthfully but ya never know. and again blood work is important. I am finished with this thread.

    Go to a nutritionist and have your diet checked out. For a week before your appointment make a list of EVERYTHING you eat and drink at each meal and between meals. You might also have a doctor or the nutritionist do blood work to see if you have any deficiencies.
