    Mantis you could start your fast on a thursday evening after dinner. You most likely will not get weak on friday so you can go about your business -but don't over exert yourself. Then you have saturday and sunday to rest. You can break your fast sunday afternoon or evening. Break the fast gently according to the article. No vitamins. No supplements.
  2. Sometimes while sitting in a chair or reclining I feel expanded as though I won't be able to fit through the doorway when I get up or I wll hit the ceiling with my head. While sitting or standing I can reach out across the room and pick up a large object in the palm of my hand if I chose to do so.

    It is more a state of awareness. I don't even try to physically reach across the room.

    I drink three glasses of water, slowly, when I get up in the morning. I find that dehydrate during sleep time. I eat about three or four hours later. Otherwise I rarely drink water as I have a high fruit and vegetable diet. I did one 10 day water fast many years ago and a 14 day fast a number of years later. I get weak after the third day - I guess it depends on how much weight you start out with. Sometimes I do a one to three day short fast. Drinking underwater can kill you

    Perhaps the enlightened people don't come forward and say they are enlightened because they have no idea that they are. They are just living and being. The thought I am enlightened is not compatable with being enlightened. Similarly when one is in meditation one experiences meditation as soon as you think wow this is a great meditation you lose the state.

    Good to sit on wool for meditation. Flannel sheets are great - you don't have to warm up the bed as you do with regular cotton.

    There is such a thing as giving up your power. Asking the same thing over and over dissapates your power. Sometimes it is best to just chose one - do it and then you know whether to continue or not. One has to be steady - go inside and know what is right for them. The answer will come and you will be centered. No one else can really tell you what to do. Opinions are always colored by the givers experience and not to your experience. It is a rare individual who can be impartial enough to give advice, and that individual will turn your question back to you so you realize what is right for you, never having given you the answer outwardly.

    Yeah your going to ask sifu max who eats junk food about smoking LOL Before you met max you would have asked another member of your revolving top five list. We all know what is right for us if we go within. Be your own master, teacher, sifu. You will get different answers depending on who you ask. So many of us subconsciously or maybe consciously ask those who will supply us with the answer we want. If we don't get the answer we desire we can always ask someone else. Mental masterbation.
  23. The two paths to the Tao

    This is similiar to the indian philosophies of Kashmir Shavism and Vedanta. Kashmir Shavism embraces - everything is god - their is nothing that is not god. god being consciousness, energy or whatever. It is all inclusive - including you. It is a path of acceptance and devotion. Vedanta says not this not this - it keeps peeling away layers - It is more a path of the intellect, of the mind. When there is nothing left there is everything. As when we are too yin we bccome yang and when too yang we become yin. Nothing become everything and everything becomes one. I tend to be a follower of embracing. It's just much easier for me to understand that everything in the universe is made of the same stuff and if this is so it includes me and all there is and all there isn't and then some. It resonates with me.
  24. Front to back So you don't move your knees over your toes. The plumb line takes the place of a wall.
  25. I prefer to stand wall free and holding a broomstick or mop handle - one hand head high the other below the bottom of your spine - pressing against your back. You can then adjust your back to be flat against the broomstick as you squat. This way you get the proper weight distribution in your feet and can go as low as you like - as if you were sitting in a chair - your back vertical as possible - without pushing knees forward. You can also hang a plumb line from the ceiling and keep your nose aligned.
