Is pain inevitable for progressing at QiGong?
mYTHmAKER replied to bd2's topic in General Discussion
Gradually. Make sure your knees are not extended beyond your toes - thighs turned out - weight to outside of feet so the ankle does not rotate in. You can stand in front of a chair - seat facing you - lined up with your toes. If the chair moves when you go into your stance your knees have moved too far forward. Intuflow is good for the joints of old and young farts. Meridian Flexibility resistance stretching is also helpful along with yin yoga I don't like the wall sits as I feel my weight is too far back on my heels - if the wall was removed I would fall over. I prefer to do the squat facing the wall - this controls my knees from going too far forward. -
I'm an old photostat enlarger. I'm guessing not enough pixels. Maybe you have to do it over with a much larger font and reduce it for super sharpness. When you make the lettering bigger you might try making the O in TAO into a yin yang fish symbol

If you really want to know ask an immortal. Otherwise it is pure speculation. None of the "teachers" have the answer. Please don't quote scriptures.

Thanks for the input. The only problem is we - me - mortals never know when they are important or not. So it is ok to play tai chi chuan once one begins kunlun.

My two cents. I've been following the kunlun threads and have bought the book. I haven't read it yet and will eventually do so. I'm waiting for more long term. feedback. There seems to be a lot of confusion. As an example the threads state the picture and the written discription of the hand position don't match up. Many people who were at the workshop seem confused about accuracy of information and presentation. I find it unacceptable that authorities on the practice are not precise in their teachings and this has made me hesitate to try them. Would like to know if it is ok to play tai chi chuan once one begins kunlun thanks

You should drink drink 8- 10 glasses of water. Slowly sipping a little at a time. However do not force yourself to drink. Helps remove toxins and stops you from becoming dehydrated.

I am mainly right brained - clockwise I am able to switch to counterclockwise - left brained I can't figure out how I can make the direction change It's almost like willing a pendulum to change direction.

I believe I learned Soaring Crane from his wife. I don't do it anymore as I focus on tai chi and standing.
-
Yes some might be able to pull it off. Also we don't know how strong he would be if he had good habits. Where is he today healthwise and how old is he. It's really an unknown I'd rather not play with.
-
What form are you doing Yang tai chi?
-
Soaring Crane qi gong does the same thing but not quite as active. Although some people did get carried away.

I've noticed in my travels that there are many enlightened - realized - evolved - beings who eat junk food. Some say they can transmute it. Some say they eat what they are given. Some die young of disease, some live a bit longer. There are many factors involved genes being one. It takes time for transgressions of ones body to find a form of disease. It doesn't happen overnight. So yes when we are young it may appear that we can eat anything - eventually it will catch up to us. It sounds like we have a power when we say we can transmute it. My own feeling re saints and diet is that they are not evolved in all areas of life. They're good at what they do but they are still in a human body and the nature of the body is to eventually decay. I have no concept of what a dragon body or a golden body is. I can dream about them - maybe I'll have one someday but untill then I will treat this earth body with respect - it is made from the same stuff as the rest of the world. Without it I wouldn't be able to strive for my golden dragon body. One of my teachers used to say "All the time you thought you were enjoying your pleasures they were enjoying you"

How many teachers does it take to screw in a lightbulb? Light up a student?
-
Thanks. Did he demonstrate his empty force - someone attacking him and being reoelled.

One good one is all you need. I noticed in another post re Ayp that it was discontinued because nothing seemed to be happening like it used to. That's just the nature of practice - it gets subtler as one progresses. Light one candle in a dark cave - WOW as you add candles you don't notice the additional light as much as you did the first candle. Lots of holes no water.

Tai Chi is a good place to start as is standing and sitting. Have you checked resources where you live. Best to have a teacher who can correct you and answer your questions.

In Sedona check out the vortex The Seven Sacred Pools. The locals know about it.
