The actual practice of the work cannot follow anything created as a rule, because everything created is temporal. Taoism today has mostly deteriorated in this way, so there are few in the world who transmit truth. It is not right to get fixated on nondoing either. If you don't do anything, you will fall into inert vacuity. Buddhism today is mostly affected by this deterioration, so there are few buddhists in the world. The reason the Way is not operative is that the Way is not clearly understood. At first the work is a matter of extinguishing emotionalism and sweeping away miscellaneous thoughts. This is a first step, building the foundation and refining the self. Once the human mentality is set aside, the celestial mind comes back. Once human desires are purified, then the celestial design is always present. Evidently, some things never change… this may have been written 700 years ago, but you'd never know it… so do sweep away miscellaneous thoughts and emotionalism about how inhuman deci is and refine yourself to build the foundation whereby the Way will reside. Then again, some find it easier to waste time doing anything but… mean while, though I'm not waiting to die, I'm ready to die— having died to the world and myself previously. Those who must harp on someone else's manners ought to meditate on the fact that I did not speak of this to anyone for fifteen years after sudden realization, not to mention fifteen years before. People who make their living frivolously on this forum while their life bleeds away ought to reflect on the fact that they have never been able to be silent about even the most trivial aspects of their lives, let alone entry into the inconceivable. Yet they have aires of entitlement to the secrets of long life and eternal vision. I have never kidded anyone with a shred of selfless sincerity about the secrets of alchemy. If you are not sincere in this regard, please do not post on my threads, or the immortals will all laugh coldly on your wishes to the contrary.

I talk and talk about this, but it is really so people can avoid side-tracks and gauge their own experiences by the talismans left by prior illuminates. I found something to corroborate that bit of intuition …inspired by the high note of antiquity. This from a modern (1644~1911) volume called Secret Records of Understanding the Way, by an anonymous author: "True practice is total sincerity. It is not a matter of avoiding the world and leaving society. And neither does it depend entirely on deliberate sitting and reciting scriptures. The essential thing is to refine away the false within the true to filter out the true from the false. Only then do you attain the true reality of perfect sincerity. If you only concern yourself with reciting scriptures in front of other people and do not concern yourself with inner cultivation and self-government, or if you sit quietly all day, immobile as a statue, looking good outwardly but inwardly agitated by roaming thoughts and miscellaneous ideas— all of this is false."

Oh, I don't know about that. It's called graduating …or a sabatical, and there are well-known organizations that have age limits. I have begun to think that bums should perhaps only be allowed a certain amount of posts per day or month or year and that after a few years should be required to take a break for a year. Frivolous posting is a very serious problem. I put so much energy into my writing and the whole thread can often be derailed by a cheap-shot. If bums knew they only had a certain allotment of posts, perhaps these empty (deleted) posts would be less prevalent. What kind of mental process produces 4000 posts in a year?!! Seeing absolute reality is mystical experience of sudden illumination when one plants the seed of buddhahood in the homeland of Nothing Whatsoever. Seeing your essence does not confer buddhahood. Seeing complete reality (Suchness) is itself beyond conditional and absolute. It is neither. Seeing reality looks no different than seeing delusion. It's just that enlightening beings do not see themselves because their point of view is not dependent on the reference-point of personality. They have impersonal objectivity due to experiencing selfless essential unborn aware nature and have the power to prove it in everyday ordinary situations. It's not that they have the power; potential is inherent in the situation itself. It is because enlightening beings see potential that they are assimilated in it. They know they are no different than the unborn, therefore nonpsychological awareness carries them along according to the karmic dna of the situation itself. Enlightening being has no self to decide. Impersonal adaption is spontaneous. Delusion is a matter of not knowing you're deluded. Dogen speaks of delusion within delusion eloquently in his Shobogenzo. It's not about seeing differently— ignorance is such because of NOT seeing. Even if you do see, if you don't have the power to act on it, it is the same as not knowing. As for holding hostilities… when I blow, the grass bends. Grass has no say in the matter of life and death. What you refer to as hostility is power. I just know when.❤

That is wonderful BD, as the refinement process of spiritual illumination is not within the province of any tradition. Though no one knows why it is the way it is, thankfully there are the ancient teaching traditions facilitating the evolution of enlightening beings who keep the knowledge alive for those who weren't born knowing. Of course, I do not recommend picking and choosing as some people (spiritual materialists) do, as if it is a matter of satisfying a shopping list… following the latest trends and seeking out fashionable and wonderful attractions, teachers, activities and destinations. I have found what works for me (not philosophically) through three major evolutions (about ten years each), without any break in orientation. Self-refinement has always been a natural and seamless process for me. The evolutions akin to moving up into the next gear of a fine motorcar built for comfort and speed (haha!!) though there continue to be rough stretches from time to time… ❤ ed note: typo 2nd paragraph

Virtue's ultimate and enduring effect is the elimination of ignorance which is then one's unlimited freedom to act in selfless adaption to karmic evolution without having to go along with the cycles of created yin and yang. This is how adepts transcend the changes they themselves participate in as coeval with creation. Not so much a matter of expunging, as the light and darkness operate neither in terms of exclusivity nor degree Purity is realized instantaneously in terms of serene open sincerity. This ignites the alchemic function. It is the nature of mind our own mind right now. What we're expunging is itself the fuel of refinement. If it weren't for the false, there would be no way to arrive at the real. There is nothing extra to discern in that in seeing complete reality, it looks no different than the temporal— Virtue works within nonoriginated unification, so it is not a matter of differentiating— that's what the human mentality does. So in terms of the human being as the empty vessel of the Way's selfless Power nothing needs to be decided, so it is not a matter of discerning (choosing) what to expunge. The power itself is spiritual and enlightening beings expression of virtue is in receiving it. Situations just do a just flip and you find yourself at ground zero again. Virtue is the power of the Way. To the degree one operates consistently in a state of nonpsychological awareness, to that degree the way naturally coalesces. Virtue is the function, the Way is its substance. Realized humans are just an inert ingredient facilitating and catalyzing the evolution of impersonal enlightening being. As for deciding on objects of hate~ there is no need to be involved personally as knowledge is immediate. Tao has never decided anything~ how much less should we? ed note: itazlicize "what"

For starters, mr Marbles is in error assuming that Te is taoist. Power is. No culture, knowledge, teaching tradition, person or god created power. Universal Good (the embodiment of Virtue as personified in the Avatsakam Sutra), does not abide in a country. It is itself the source of civilization. For those who may reel from the inclusion of a buddhist text in this discussion, realize that ANYTHING you can think of or use your mind to conjure is not it. That is not the same as the philosopher's conceptual triviality which sugar-coats the TTC's opening statement. I say this because it is you yourself right now~ not a concept to sniff and roll like a cork. Therefore Power is not within the realm of any view one can entertain (in this discussion). Therefore it is not a Taoist, Buddhist, or any other tradition's possession, creation, or dependent identity. People who attain this mind by clarifying and stilling the human mentality (the intellectual apparatus), arrive at this understanding of reality by virtue of the Way in residence. How else would one come to know the source of the knowledge of the ancients who were thus acquainted (in order to create the classics in the first place) and who wrote from the perspective of enlightened mind itself. Lesser minds have come up with methods of interpretation which depend on a tradition; not the source itself. May I humbly support the view that Power is the immaterial manifestation of the Way which has no possible function of separation. The essence of the Way is Unity. It is the human mentality which can only view things in relation to its own splintered capacity whereby it organizes reality in its own image. Those who refine themselves become a capacitor of the Way by clarity and stillness whereby the Way naturally resides. One then activates the Virtue of the Receptive, which is how Power effects its influence. It is not that the Way is separate~ its impersonality is the knowledge of potential. Those who get this act outside of creation, not subject to Change. One's relationship with Power is by degree relative to the residence of the Way in terms of one's self-refinement. Those who must view Virtue as conceptually separate (in any respect) must endeavor to develop a real, personal loss of ego-identity to arrive at a mind with capacitance of the Way's Power of enlightening being.

This is just giving up notions of intellectual self-reifying delusion which uses enlightened awareness to create illusion. Just drop this vicious habit and the word reverts to silent islands in a sea of jewels. The light of the moon is inherent knowledge of potential. In this case, the knowledge is itself enlightening being; there is nothing to know as it contains absolutely nothing-whatsoever. It is awareness without beginning. This is Unborn mind. Drop the fighting mentality and this is all that remains. It is not some other mind. There are no two minds. ed note: add "which" in first sentence

Intense yang overcomes intense yin without coming or going, depending on the situation unfathomably. This is the working definition of enlightening being. Its accomplishment is the matching of your inviolate potential with creative evolution. How is this done? It is one's own light shining back on its source without reservation like breathing in and out occurring naturally. One doesn't have to think about it. It has a natural rhythm. If you can sense this rhythm, don't loose sight of it for the world. But just because you may be totally unconscious of your actions doesn't mean you have entry. This is the reason for self-refinement in order to build the foundation for the Way to reside permanently. It is precisely by applying non-minding in the midst of affairs that enlightening being is accomplished. One doesn't do this. It isn't a matter of deciding. Being itself is inherent. Drop notions of self and other in terms of habitual thought-energy of speculative complacency in the midst of situations and the Way opens up of itself through karmic evolution to provide the context for sublimation of one's physical and spiritual (nonpsychological) capacity. Buddha didn't say it any better. Laotzu didn't say it any better. Padmasambhava didn't say it any better. I didn't say any any better. I just said it again. Not unconsciously entertaining the most subtle of desires is the result of the firm application of discipline and concentration at all times. Gathering in your spirit is essence. Returning it back to your energy is purifying and mixing the medicines of fire and water. I'll try to give an example… but I believe it is impossible. Gathering in your spirit is employing the inherent nonpsychological capacity of mind to see through creation. Scattering your spirit is using awareness to create illusion by activating habitual speculative complacency in the midst of situations. Returning it back to your energy is accomplished by not denying characteristics of phenomena. This is the same as using yin to refine yang. This is what happens naturally without any thought. It is a matter of using the yin in the center of fire (essence) to nurture the yang in the center of water (real knowledge of potential)— in reference to ancient alchemical lore. I only mention this not to explain, but to provide hints of what to look for. Only you can arrive at the meaning and the process inherent in the Mechanism of Nature. But first it is necessary to permanently extinguish emotionalism and sweep away miscellaneous thoughts. ed note: add "It has a natural rhythm. There is no one to tell; even if you do… And there is no one who isn't just this, so it's not like enlightening being is lonely~ it is other who is under the illusion of separation. If you still complain about my descriptions of the natural mechanism to the point of looking for excuses to drum up a fight, just listen to these veracious lines~ Those who insist this is energy work are all the more confused. It actually could apply to inner alchemy, but that is not necessarily the important application. This is not a matter of various times. This is how it is all the time when you operate the celestial function within the temporal. If you can't stand hearing this then try finding out for yourself so you can come up with your own description of the mechanism. I challenge you to put down your recreational relationship with your views and see what it is. The world is intense yin. The killing energy of the yin convergence is intense yin. At any rate, I'm not here to build up anyone's self-esteem. If I don't accept your understanding, forget it; you can be sure that I do too. That's a good thing!! I have a duty and the ability to remain firm regarding spiritual principles that are simply not subject to conventional or even intellectual "interpretation". I simply don't care how or even if people "get it", but if someone is going to comment on my threads, I will most certainly be honest with them (if I'm not already ignoring them). My response to inappropriate comments is ruthless. Politely ignoring inappropriate comments does more harm than good to others who read it, and to respond as I do sometimes must also harm the thrust of the thread, as any deviation from the subtle nature of the content of my threads ruins the tenuous grasp I have of the thread's subject in terms of verbalizing it (not to mention my mood). My only hope is that the posts I deem inappropriate to my threads will be removed by its author. The problem is, nobody can be comfortable going along with with the reality of my authority.
