Beating one with a staff or stiff language can often be more effective and even more appropriate. Nice seen as nice is not nice; therefore how can it suffice? Social niceties are effective as social niceties and little else. Errors of omission come to mind.❤

The ancient classics on the science of cultivating reality often speak of the path of nondoing, but seldom speak of the path of doing. However, on the path of nondoing, only those of superior knowledge become suddenly enlightened and attain complete comprehension, understanding everything in one realization, immediately ascending into the realm of sages. Mediocre and lesser people, those who are dull, deeply conditioned, and lacking perceptivity, will find that their power is insufficient to practice the path of nondoing; they will not be able to transcend all objects and reach the goal directly. During the latter Han dynasty (second century C.E.) Wei Po-yang, a Taoist adept, composed the Triplex Unity (Ts'an t'ung ch'i) to guide those of middling and lesser faculties. He used images to present the imageless, used forms to allude to the formless. This was the beginning of the term gold elixir and the technical symbolism of lead and mercury, sand and silver, raven and rabbit, dragon and tiger, the baby, the girl, medicinal substances, the furnace and cauldron, cooking and refining, and so on. Later on, many people who had attained the Tao composed alchemical treatises, all based on the Triplex Unity, to expound the subtle principles. Their intention was for students in later times to use the former to study the latter, and use the latter to understand the former. Nevertheless, later students did not look into the meanings of the code words and did not figure out the principles of the symbols. Seeing talk of gold elixir, lead, mercury, cauldron, and furnace, they thought it referred to the preparation of potions to ingest, and they took to chemistry. Seeing talk of raven and rabbit, dragon and tiger, they thought it referred to the internal organs, and they took to visualization exercises. Seeing talk of other and self, yin and yang, male and female, they thought it referred to conjugal elixir, and they took to sexual yoga. Seeing talk of going along, reversing, and inverting, they thought it referred to forced effort, and took to energy circulation practices. Seeing talk of nondoing to cultivate essence, they took to mean utter quiescence, and they got involved in quietism. Seeing talk of doing to cultivate life, they thought it meant exercise, and came to cling to form. These and other schools arose, all taking a deer to be a horse, taking a crow for a phoenix, not only without benefit to essence and life, but even to the detriment of essence and life. This is wonderful. For me it represents authentic relationship in the impersonal aspect of unity aside from my usual spiel. That's really what I wanted to avoid in this thread. So I hesitate to bring up nonpsychological, but there is no reason why the term isn't applicable in this sense as it is the impersonally direct connection with the universal without having to use terms that have spiritual or philosophical overtones. Actually, there are elements to the 20th chapter, LCH, that would imply psychological implosion. I'd made a note on that chapter that "people don't see anything without their own minds, whereas enlightening being has no-mind to see with". ed note: add response to LCH's comment

The Mysterious Female This is a compilation of posts from the Articles Section I wrote about four months ago. There are new bums who may be interested in this material. Those who know the valley spirit by having penetrated the immaterial aperture of the mysterious female have no sexual identity. How then could the nonpsychological spirit of the heart of heaven and earth be categorically differentiated by literalists clinging to descriptions? How does one describe that which has no location? The puzzle is without remainder, only entertained by the doubts of the human mentality. The valley spirit is where potential is activated; where change originates. The mysterious female is a metaphor. Mystery is movement: yang. Female is stillness: yin. Neither yin or yang, East Mountain walks on water. Standing ready by the gate and door of the Mysterious Female, observe life and death. This is knowing the pivot of change. It is not only in mystical experience. When one can be still, one can witness return in everyday ordinary cycles of yin and yang. When one sees the Mysterious Female, one attains the power of the center. Observing stillness and movement, one is not subject to change. This is because the Mysterious Female is the locus of change where the physical and psychological elements do not adhere; where change originates; where adepts steal potential. When you see the the Mysterious Female and attain the pivot of creation, you attain it forever. When you stand ready by the gate and door of the aperture of the Mysterious Female, you actually see the world go sailing on by through its aperture as if caught by the power of its own momentum like a careening astronaut projecting out into the vast void of space. It is kind of sad, in a way. But you're not!❤ The task is the "door". The gate is the opening and closing of the Mysterious Female. The Art of War states that victory is up to the enemy and that one must choose the ground of death in order to live, find the place of victory, and wait for the enemy to fulfill fate. Adepts know the gate and door of the Mysterious Female and wait there for the inevitable to arrive. Here are two terms not customarily used: inner and outer Mysterious Female. Certainly, some critical junctures are more critical than others, but the context of of passing through in terms of mutual response in the subtle operation of enlightening activity is based on stillness and waiting and finally releasing according to one's essence and the potential dictated by the situation itself. The waiting is more or less perpetual, the critical junctures are momentary; what defines the turn of each time is sometimes just witnessing it, other times it requires a response in conventional terms. Sometimes one must go into the dragon's lair~ where the balance of success and failure is acute. But one waits for the timing— it is up to oneself alone when and how to release potential in acts of selfless mutual response in mundane and transmundane affairs. The rule is "in endless transformations one plants lotuses in fire". In responding to situations, each one is a cycle. There are cycles within cycles. Without hurrying or lagging, one watches single-mindedly at the gate and door of the Mysterious Female where change evolves incipiently. It is like a cat attentively watching a mouse-hole. If one is truly like this, one cannot fail to recognize and grab each cubic centimeter of chance as it appears and succeed in the timing of one's affair with power. Even so, when one becomes adept at recognizing the timing, one never knows what is going to pop out of the hat! The key is to rely on the spiritual power of one's clear essence unified in the inherent potential of the situation to guide oneself in terms of the Virtue of the Receptive. Relying on one's own power is error and, to be sure, if that is the case, one actually has absolutely no business in this affair whatsoever as illustrated by the third line of the seventh hexagram, The Army. ed note: one too many "the" in the last sentence

Consciousness has never had any contents~ it is even absent of emptiness. How could there ever have been even one? Even so, the living aware uncreated impersonal energy is your own mind right now. Awaken to your own real mind right now and all your delusional existence is not different, not the same. You just take it up and go on, innocent, replete. The universe has nothing on you. Even now it is so. It is just that you yourself do not know this right now. Seeing this is knowing this. Just now, and for the rest of your life, forget all your ideas as you observe the world act in concert. After a long time of this psychological fasting, reality will dawn on you as it always has been …aglow. it is simply a matter of calm awareness sustaining open sincere intent as you respond naturally to ordinary situations. The fact that it is illusion doesn't make it different than reality. It is your own ignorance of reality that makes your experience of ordinary situations different than reality. You should go back to your original question and accept that the answer to it is a qualified yes. Actually it has never begun. How does this reconcile with your present position on taking illusion for reality? It is the unseen that is real. It is the created that is false. Right now you take the false for the real. It is not a matter of belief. You have to experience this yourself. Don't take anyone else's word for it— and don't deny it either. Ultimately, even now, you are on your own and you are dying. I just found that phrase was something I could elaborate on because its key element is illustrative of the dynamic of the subtle turning over that is the signature of the timing of the Mysterious Female. The point of passing is profound. One who learns to occupy the aperture of the Mysterious Female (the mysterious pass) can become a wizard. I say the mysterious pass is the substance; the mysterious female is the function— ultimately these are only terms of reference used by adepts to help students become familiar with the gravity and timing of the celestial mechanism. All one can do is refine the self and await the time. Virtue is its own fulfillment as one enters further along the path of prior illuminates. Talk of mastering time is only in terms of evidences of efficacy. There is no end to the mystery of mysteries. A lifetime is so short …too short to unravel even more than a few of the mysteries of this world. Those who enter mastery of time are extremely frugal with it. As for wasting time, I would ask, Who has time to waste?!! DON'T ANSWER THAT!

I did not intend to come online to address one of the multifarious doubters who can use anything to construe confusion where there is none to begin with. This is why I came here today to add to this thread. There is something I would like to add that I constantly state regarding turning around the light and enlightening activity specifically. The matter of subtle operation of the firing process spoken of in the alchemical classics obviously has nothing to do with sudden realization. I say this over and over to make sure no one is confused. It is not only because there are those who are born knowing, who do not have to experience the sudden and who then go on to set up the furnace and cauldron for advance practice. It is because we are already enlightened and have the full capacity of buddhas that selfless adaption to temporal circumstances is natural as is. It is not a matter of fixing something— it's just how you do it. So I want to stress that the subtle operation of freeing potential in the midst of ordinary affairs just is. This is Suchness in action. The sudden is just some harmonic resonance, a symptom of enlightening activity. The experience of seeing the totality of yourself isn't a matter of the absolute, it is seeing reality as it is right now in everyday ordinary situations. Please don't imagine it looks any different. I say, "Different than what? There is no other. "Temporal conditions are nothing less than inherent potential itself. People just don't want to give up their shitty little scenes. There is no thing. Dealing with circumstances, ultimately there is no remainder. Pristine mind self-refreshes and we find ourselves anew all over again …and again …and again. Who is becoming impatient? This has never begun; miraculously aware on the verge of going into action in perpetuity. So when seeing through situations, we still have to go along with the evolutionary aspect inherent in the situation because in so doing, we release potential by not acting on it. We release it for ourselves and others too. It is a matter of freeing potential. The term absorbing potential is in not using it. One steals potential by not using it. One just lets it go no different than forgetting the habit-formations of conditioned energy. In fact, doing so could be considered stealing back your own inherent potential. Not self, nor other; the real is one flavor. Here, it is possible to conclude the meaning of the top line of the 41st hexagram, Reduction, in terms of not only increase within reduction, but even increase without reduction. ed note: add to the original dominatrix tease…❤
