Those who glibly claim to have "no practice" and conceitedly trumpet simply living as "my life" are sadly deluded. This is because following random activity and calling that spontaneity, may be accomplishing "no practice", but this has no affinity with the function of observing mind arriving at cessation of random consciousness. This is because "my life" at this point is not yet one's own, independent of conditioned existence. Until ignorant individuals arrive at the will to enlightenment and struggle deliberately to turn their lives around by turning the light of their own consciousness around, go in reverse, and finally arrive at the origin of Complete Reality, will they discover for themselves that "my life" has no power in or outside of karmic evolution until it is blown away forever by realizing their nature void of self. Until practice reaches the realm of unattributability there is no automomy because until one is finally and continuously aware of nonorigination, one cannot transcend being bound by the conditioned self constituting the karmic matrix going through its inexorable cycles of yin and yang. Obviously, it is only when these individuals reach their serial impasses do they endeavor to deploy their defiant "my life" proclamations. This would be the very antithesis of the selflessly autonomous adaption of enlightening being in everyday ordinary situations unbeknownst to anyone which is the middle way whereby neither absolute nor mundanity stand. True effective practice is arrival at the subsequently permanent activation of turning the light around to illuminate its source and have that source void of self or other identify one's life. Those who fall back to the refuge of "my life" when it suits them are proving their ultimate ignorance of the source of spontaneity and their partnership as coeval with creation— and not subject to it. This is then where phenomena is empty and characteristics have their variables. Enlightening being is governed by random karmic activity in that selfless response has no set categories, only relying on the timing of heaven, the situations of earth, and the phantoms of self and other in concert as the creatively evolving karmic matrix alternates cyclically. Arrival transcends the puny morality of "my life" in that one sees through phenomena without denying their characteristics. You see through your life without denying its characteristics as well. Therefore one does not go along with conditions but subtly stands apart by not harboring ulterior motives in speculation on outcomes or for one's ego-securities, only adapting impersonally by assessing objectively in the midst of changes. The primal and temporal are originally not two. This is not beyond the function of enlightening being seeing through "my life". Complete Reality is one's function in terms of unity of absolute and conditional in one breath. Otherwise, what would be the point of seeing your nature? It is just to enable one to activate the real in ordinary situations unbeknownst to anyone. If anyone knew, it wouldn't be real~ nor would it be natural. "Nevertheless, it is necessary to wind up at the point where 'heaven is open, earth is broad, and all things are just as they are,' for only this can be considered attainment." ed note: just re-introducing the thread topic❤

Let me see, thelerner… the term light, signifies the ineffable, which is unattributable. So… if by focus, we could indicate that the impersonal focus is 360˚ objectless pervasion of spontaneous insight relative to any given situation at any given time, then yes, focus could definitely be an effective substitute for the term light~ ahhahahaa!!❤❤ I'm being silly, but sure~ whatever term can work for people to see awareness itself having no point of reference relative to individuals is the reversal of the light itself shining back on its source— which is inconceivable reality in everyday ordinary events. This is, btw, the working definition of enlightening being. I'm glad you mentioned it (I came online to invite chris to please discuss the books he mentioned in more detail), thelerner. If people would exercise focusless focus in terms of insight without habitually referencing self-reflective orientation, this would be what is meant by "turning the focus around". So the focus at any given time has no point or source other than the entire situation relative to itself wherever you are. Focus works for me!❤ Then people may ask, But why? I say neither good or bad, reality is the basis of enlightened qualities inherent in oneself. There is no thing inside or outside. Why not find out for oneself what this no thing is? Ultimately, it is a solitary vision of impersonal unity, selfless desire unknowing, boundless and free, subsuming within sameness. It's the party raging within your own skull before your parents were born. Turning your focus around is itself enacting inherent enlightening qualities outside of self and other unbeknownst to anyone. The situation itself determines, is complicit within and without, the focus never having been focused before this instant. This is spontaneity. How free is that?

I myself do not practice a "Golden Flower" teaching, but looking back from the perspective of subtle operation, the Golden Flower teaching is a direct entry into the real without intermediary, which is the whole point of the transmission. The light of awareness is unattributable, so those who can awaken to its functional aspect in ordinary circumstances already have the development and the affinity with its source to see it in the course of events without clinging to psychological reifications.

It is a wonder if you can see your nature before you die, because then you will already know there is no death and that no one has ever died. That life and death are equal and awareness has never tasted a beginning is the quintessence of nondual truth. If you yourself have the immortal nature no different that your own mind right now, you actually have the opportunity in this life to experience miraculous awareness on its terms. If you can see your nature during your lifetime, then nothing created can touch you… including that thing people call a god.

Please!! Do find yourself a list of lineages!! But you have your own nature, and no else one can find it for you. But why, after all, would you want to have a list of lineages if taoism is not big on seeing your nature, hmmmm?

Yes, they are the same. When this is one's reality the subtle function of light is as if reversed and one's stillness and activity is also the same. This is also the same as seeing through objects without denying characteristics. Selflessness is just a matter of purity responding to the time.

The sequential transmission is in service of the tradition and therefore the lineage is transmitted, not knowledge, which is inherent. The lineage in the USA is present and accounted for by my own transmission, then— BUT, Universal Goodness is not by a country, rather in the Way itself. Therefore, the sequence is still a convention, whereas realization is inconceivable. I must say, Taomeow that you chose to respond to what I said so therefore it is you who want to talk about something to me that I am not talking about. That is your error. Furthermore, as one who is evidently afflicted with the sicknesses of attachment to teachers, teaching traditions, and personal interpretations of the functional reality constituting lineages, there is simply no merit in your taking up a righteous cause relative to your erroneous self-concept to defend this cucumber of yours against the natural iconoclasm of an illumined adept who actually knows the meaning of physical and spiritual sublimation entering the tao in reality. The light is impersonal, beyond convention. I myself have no lineage to speak of. As such, lineages mean nothing to me since I have seen my nature without a physical teacher. Even so, I studied for almost two decades in an ancient North American tradition and subsequently from the Southern and Northern Complete Reality Traditions. In the aftermath of sudden realization formally attributed to the science of taoist alchemy of immaterial vision of the heart of heaven and earth it was only by the power Chan that my meager potential was freed from the cave of the small vehicle. One cannot identify personally with a lineage, only serve the selfless intent of the human body, which has no location.

There's no resistance, that's all. It's not a formal meditation state. It's your own mind to begin with in everyday ordinary situations, whether alone or not. What other moving mind is there? It only refers to the human mentality of conflicting emotions. I would fear the moving mind much more than the still, shining mind of Tao, which enables objective knowledge that sees through situations without negating characteristics. The skanda of form is dispensed with in an instant when the light is turned around. Reality doesn't change one iota. Authentic lineage is determined by sudden realization following a prior illuminate's guidance. It has nothing to do with acceptance by others, whether it be a person, sect or school. If you have not seen your nature, you really have nothing to talk about as you do not know the prerequisite and have no inner affinity. Lineage for the enlightened is not an academic issue.

Those who know the valley spirit by having penetrated the immaterial aperture of the mysterious female have no sexual identity. How then could the nonpsychological spirit of the heart of heaven and earth be categorically differentiated by outsiders clinging to descriptions? How does one describe that which has no location? The puzzle is without remainder, only entertained by the doubts of the human mentality. The valley spirit is where potential is activated; where change originates. The mysterious female is a metaphor. Mystery is movement: yang. Female is stillness: yin. Neither yin or yang, East Mountain walks on water.
