Practice is just this finding out herein; your place neither carrying over from the past nor just arising is the fundamental point. Investigating phenomena is finding the fundamental point actualizing within your place of non-arising. Finding out in terms of phenomena is just your place where you are. Finding this is not in things, but in finding itself. Finding is the foundation of practice, where there is neither large nor small, neither yours nor others'. It might be possible for people unfamiliar with Dogen's emphasis to mistakenly consider that the place, the way that has not carried over from the past, and is not merely arising now, is in terms of the absolute. It seems the fundamental point being actualization of finding your place is practice occurring. Actualizing the place neither large nor small, neither yours nor others', neither carrying over from the past nor just arising now is mindful practice of the fundamental point.

See essence on your own, then seek a teacher.

Jing is activated by desire; Chi is activated by thought; Shen is unrefined elixir. Shen is an element of the organization after the dichotomy of yin and yang. Sinfest is working with energy. Essence is open from beginning to end. You are enlightened right now, but don't know it. Just maintain the subtle awareness that refining vitality into energy into spirit is not about energy work. Spirit is immaterial. This is nopsychological awareness, no different than the immediate knowledge employed by your sense faculties. Habitual discriminatory consciousness is interrupted when refined spirit is emptied. If you are using energy, you are stuck in energy. Using essence itself; this is where you end up. Seeing esence, there is no person— only awareness. Refining vitality is stilling vitality, forgetting feelings. When refining energy, thoughts are forgotten. When refining spirit, open sincerity is empty; other is the host and the self is the guest. At the right time, an aperture opens in cosmic space and one sees the original face. It is not something one does deliberately. From beginning to end, one maintains a subtle awareness open and sincere— free of intellectualism and cloying feelings of self and other. It is a natural process void of imagination. Not using the body; not using mind, responding to conditions without being seduced by phenomena, there is a reversal that no one knows, only you. Books are no different than guitar amps— older is usually better— don't rule out any of the Cleary translations of the Complete Reality tradition including his translation of The Secret of the Golden Flower. One can always go back and dabble in the inner energy work; life is short. The truth is, after seeing essence, inner alchemy is spontaneous. Don't mix up the order— refinement reverses and takes over the killing energy of created cycles. Internal work is still work. This is ancillary to the essential function of the celestial design. It is a matter of how you are seeing reality right now. What is easy to come by is hard to work with— that's why Sinfest can't say. What is hard to come by is easy to work with. Pain being gain is fallacious— this is malpractice. There are no promises; there is no thing. No one knows this. This means knowledge is impersonal; awareness is selfless. Ultimately this Shen is discarded like so much residue; only then one enters the tao in reality. (ed note: removed "not" from "Pain not being gain…")

That's so great!❤ I only did it once and found it a perfect way to just sit. It really is an effective technique. But do resist the temptation to make a sport or career out of postures and formal meditation practices; not only are some people anatomically unsuited for that sort of gymnastics, the simple fact is that it is only a temporary expedient. One's personal best is selflessly aware.

I know what you mean, mewtwo~ but there are not so many ideas, after all. Forgetting ideas as they arise comes closest.❤ -

So many good posts!❤ Creative people are their own worst enemies. The knowledge that equality is complete is the same as nothing to do. Living wholeness in perpetuity on the brink of volition yet never having acted, is mind basically open. What can never be left undone? This can, because this has never been undone. Therefore the Completely Real does nothing and completely real humans have nothing left undone. Therefore they do not act according to convention which reflects thoughts of self and other. Naturally do? Like naturally die? One must then practice broadening one's focus spherically 360˚. Mr. Fukoka was a very scientific guy. His selfless desire to find out what really happens when one is whole within unity of one's purvey, is what allows one's own complete reality to activate complete reality in everyday ordinary situations. In our uselessness, we do not remove what is useless, only that which is habitually identified as useful. So in action habituated to self-reflection identifying usefulness, thoughts and feelings come to the fore, obscuring naturalness. Naturalness dictates response. Did he insist that others also not do so? Who could ever visit Mr. Fukoka, who never wore a path to leave non-doing and enter into doing. In this way we find out what happens without exercising selfish habits, in which knowledge is immediate and void of self. Eternity waits on itself; immortality knows itself. That which knows itself has a way to do nothing that never leaves anything undone.

I aspire to self-unemployed dependent wealth (I'm already there, but it hasn't caught on yet). I've positioned myself impeccably though! heehee!!

You were right the first time I think, but both teachings are complementary in terms of emphasis and vocabulary. In my practice, alchemy was essential in seeing the celestial design before; whereas Chan was instumental in applying the function afterward. This in turn helped clarify some of the ancient taoist terminology concerning yin convergence operations that enable me to absorb some of Dogen's work. …otherwise, I know nussing, mon ami!~ haha!!❤ (ed note: add "some of", in last line)
