Does Spiritual Enlightenment mean Psychological Maturity?
deci belle replied to ShaktiMama's topic in General Discussion

Consisting of Greatness Knowledge is the end of sense: Knowledge employs the mind The way mind employs the body Without cogitation. Not afraid to miss out on current affairs Who penetrates the source of psycho-spiritual dilettantism Has the body filled With non-psychological awareness. Spiritual materialism is this world Serializing castoff fashions of fraudulence Missing the point Over and over again. Metal knowledge enters conscious fire And like the fuel of your churning star A mind purely sincere alights~ simply gone Gone, beyond gone ā¦gone beyond. Passing through the self of selves Abiding as presence Pregnantly abiding within this True Intent, precious, unknowing. This nature Consisting of greatness Fills a void Beyond the six senses.

In the second chapter of Chuang tzu, On Equalizing Things, there is the short passage, "ā¦As long as they follow their fixed mentalities as guides, who is alone and without guidance? Why should they substitute knowledge, when they have what their minds take for themselves?" What constitutes the nature of self? What follows is not a meditation-state, nor is it reached by action on your part: Until one experiences no-mind in the absence of even nothing whatsoever, who has the wherewithal to propose, much less assume the likely-hood of conceptual understanding. It is not a matter of inconceivability. It is a matter of direct knowledge without equal, mediatory sufficiency or person. Knowledge is not a person. There is no such thing. Enlightenment is seeing your nature as your natureā it is not being. You are not your nature. Your nature is you. I don't talk about nature. I talk about the knowledge. Who has direct experience? When you see your nature you are not the person. Seeing your nature is a direct result of ceasing to exist. Nonexistence is the nature of yourself. That is the whole natural unborn undying selfless inconceivable fact. There is no thought, self, identity, soul, traveller, knowing, volition, person, beginning or end here. You cannot philosophize on the nature of self. The nature of self is not a person. Human being is not a noun. You who think or believe that this realm is a matter of opinion or spirituality based on anything you can knowā do not know. Those who tout one wisdom tradition over another on the basis of historic accountability are full of it. You do not know. Because if you did know, you would not refer to a nameable traditionā you would refer to your self. Wisdom traditions are a result of the knowledge of the nature of self. The nature of self does not follow. It is miraculous awareness not one iota different than the awareness in you reading these words. The nature of self precedes the organization of creation. Even though it is not created, there is that which is beyond the nature of self. So seeing your nature isn't such a big thing, really. The mysteries never end, regardless of self or no-self. YOU must see for yourselfā don't substitute your present mind for knowledge. Knowledge is direct, unequivocal and inconceivable. Do not mistake reality for your mind that thinks.

Words to live by nonetheless, Marblehead! Why did you choose this chapter at this particular time? Just a sequential thing?

Otis wrote: I would communicate with understanding. Often, with understanding the unreality of it all, understanding is understanding not-understanding. Immediate knowledge of reality is instantaneous. No word, thought or self reflective action is necessary. Experiencing reality, one's communication goes through, or it doesn'tā but one's essential function is whole, neither coming or goingā regardless of others' experience. Others' experience of attraction, aversion or unconsciousness is your experienceā it's just the way it is, so you don't have to do anything about it. It is not a separate reality. This reality is non-psychological. The non-psychological is spiritual, whether people know it or not. It is not a matter of empathy or emotionalism that passes for compassion in the social matrix.

It's good that you want to circulate energy through the passes alternate ways, Neophyte! Once you have opened the channels and used different routines to massage and saturate the different organs, you can carefully experiment yourself by watching where energy wants to go. Please continue to be very careful in breath/concentration-related practice. It is a very dangerous affair to obsess on procedure-driven programs. Just watching the breath in a relaxed natural way is sufficient unless it is for purposes of grafting or induction under direct, expert supervision. Once you do open all the passes and channels, it's not so important to make the exercises an issue. You can now experience deeper and more subtle workings of energetics as your breath mirrors the degree of stillness of mind. Relaxed, natural and serene is most effective. Don't take any chances! And I forgot to mention that the exercise is different for men and women. Mantak Chia covers this well in his volumes and there is an exquisite rendering in the alchemical style called Immortal Sisters.

Hi manitou~ In the sciences of Essence and Life, a student was once admonished thusly: "If you do not know death, how can you possibly know life?" At the edge of Life and Death, the microcosm and macrocosm hangs in the balanceā it is too late for regrets. One's life is short, don't waste time. So the matter of life and death is central to the perspective of saints, sages, wizards, buddhas and savants of mysteries of mysteries. The dim incipience of what we can call taoism is shamanic. I hear there was once a land-bridge between asia and the americasā¦ immortality is like something you don't see, until, suddenly you recognize its potentialā and your obvious, intimate and natural affinity. Relationship materialā¦?!!

What exactly is "birthing a spiritual embryo"
deci belle replied to fatherjhon's topic in General Discussion
When you know there is nothing whatsoever being, known and knowingā there's your spiritual embryo. The experience is universal, yet different for each individual. Suddenly, in the vastness of cosmic space, it hovers in stillness. The embryo is symbolic of a visionā the first indication of inconceivable existence outside the matrix of the primal organization. In taoist terminology, what follow is the "ten months" of incubation. After a long time, decadesā there is a solidification of maturity and one can begin to manifest inconceivable activity unbeknownst to others in everyday ordinary affairsā in itself a far cry from evolution leading to buddhahood. -
The last line of the Kuei ku tzu (Master of Demon Valley) states that "The reason that sages value the subtlety of the Way is truly because it can change peril into safety, rescue the ruined and enable them to survive." I bring this up because the course of alchemy from the very beginning is one of subtlety. Finding the medicines, operating the firing process producing the elixir, the timing of intensity and ease without deviation or slip-up is all based on a profound subtlety. Each individual's situation is unique, but the elements of refinement are the same for both sexes. The requirement is a natural and intuitive affinity. Please use the books and bring up comments and sticking points in order to clarify confusion.

Hi Sulimanā The Shamanism which was mentioned seems derivative of Don Juan Matus' teachingā is that true, manitou? The Northern School of Complete Reality and the Southern School have slightly differing emphasis. A desciple of the southern branch's patriarch started the northern branch which is virtually the same as Chan. I would love to talk about aspects of this teaching with yourself and others. My practice is steeped in the teaching of Don Juan Matus, who was known as a Yaqui sorcerer but called himself a Man of Knowledge. Only in the past few decades had I absorbed some of the Cao Dong Chan lore, the Flower Ornament Scripture, Alchemic works, the Yin Convergence Classic and Classics of the taoist canon that have thankfully been translated into the English language including I Ching studies and the Art of War. We owe Thomas Cleary dearly for his contributions. I know no Chinese languages. I am glad I stumbled on your thread!

Wonderful, fragrant herbs! Nanashi's post explained that there is a good time to apply effort and see people and ask questions without fear. But don't forget that the tree's growth starts at the beginning: a seed in the earth, the place of acts. The time of the seed and sprout is not to be rushed. Nanashi also made it clear that at the very beginning, what is most critical is exercise of the will. Earth symbolizes the center, which is the homeland of will, or intent. In this context, it is correct to understand earth as intent. It is not a matter of will as in will-power. Intent is more subtle. Take your time.
