Nei Gung - What is it? to Starjumper, Buddy, et al.
Buddy replied to VCraigP's topic in General Discussion
"It is a Martial Chi Kung because it is the type of Chi Kung that enhances speed of movement, it trains and enhances striking power at a fundamental level, and it increases sensitivity, agility, and certain psychic benefits which are a benefit to self defense. It teaches self defense abilities on a subconcious level, similar to the way Tai Chi does, but in a more subtle way." Pffft. -
"Too bad, you should get out more, or read more, or something, one or the other, since all real chi kung masters qualify as sorcerers. Seeing is believing, and so is feeling." No, it isn't. People regularly see and feel things that aren't there. "Aint no one online ever going to learn my chi kung teacher's name, but some people know my other teacher's names - both online and off." Of course not. "The intransigent position. The digging in of the heels. The refusal to suspend disbelief. The holding on to tight to pedantry." It's called reality, try it sometime.

Agreed. Whatever is pent up (physical, mental, emotional) is releasing. It'll pass in time.

Of course the assumption that I take (and that Buddy probably does not accept, or flat out denigrates) is that Bruce has taken the 16 nei gung system from a previous system. As such he did not came out with the number 16." I've already mentioned where Bruce got a large part of his stuff...the Cheng Ming crowd. 16 is arbitrary because the skills overlap. That they are a convenient mnemonic for Bruce and his students is fine, no problem from me. It doesn't matter enough to me to dispute overmuch, the goodness of the work stands. I'd been around the block before meeting Bruce...(1987 or so?), and when I first was convinced to shell out $175 bucks (so much cheaper back then) for a weekend and saw him, I thought Oh my God, who's this fat Greek American guy? But I learned more in 15 hours than I had in 15 years. And that was the first time I did Energy Gates. -
"starjumper", Sorry, I don't believe in wizards, and I have students who have been with me longer than six years. And I find "the most advanced kung fu master" to be hyperbole. You can't back up qi because it's an unproven paradigm. You don't know what I'm in touch with nor what I can do. But I don't make outlandish claims. I'm not unknown in the online internal martial art world. I've given my teachers, they're all real people. And I use my real name when posting. I've been teaching for 25 years, please don't presume so much.

"I spent six years in close proximity to one of the most powerful Taoist wizards in the world, so stuff it!" You've made this boast. Care to back it up? Wizard?

If I can make it in March (the Museum I work at opens to the public then) I'd be happy to take you up on it. But I'll have some dim sum and sam see chow my foon. Until then, here's something to tickle your funny bone. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSeh3h12abo...?showtopic=2039

The thread is NOT about the alleged existence of qi. You cannot prove the paradigm. But when you (or mantra) say this thing that cannot be proved is able to be felt over a limitless distance;and when this statement is challenged and a demonstration requested, you fall back on the same old dodge of "you can't get it" for, in this case, our nervous systems aren't aligned. Jakara has already addressed the pseudo-scientific aspect of the conversation. "Sorry Buddy. I wanted to help. It seemed like you had an interest. I would not have jumped in unless it seemed possible." Please. Your passive/aggressive condescension is absurd. It's easy for you to presume to have some sort of skill hiding behind a screen name.

"Quote Buddy: "Make a chi ball between your palms and while you can feel the magnetic field ask yourself if you think the energy is a typical kind of magnetic energy." Not my quote. "Notice below you say 'Doubt" and not disbelieve. Without the direct challenge above, or your potential to understand we would say nothing." We? Is this the Galactic We? "All responses have been for the assertion of the existence of chi, or other energies. as regards your doubt." Well, since it requires for our "nervous systems to be aligned", looks like I'm SOL, huh? So far it's been nothing but assertions and platitudes.
-
No, alleged means here I doubt its existence. You posted that alleged lama doing his empty force stuff as some sort of example. It's not, it's nonsense. Now you run the risk of having anyone reading this a equating Max Christiansen with that. I'm happy that all of you dig his stuff. But understand that not everyone's going to swallow it on your say so.
-
"One, our nervous systems are not connected yet. That that is the prerequisite." Of course it is. It's always something. "Why would yours hurt?" Because it's gongfu. Cam, you're a good guy with a good heart. I wish you only the best.

Cam, Send me the money and I'm there in a heartbeat. "Insensativity is no badge of merit. Something even more subtle than the magnetic field of your own body is love. limiting the sense love to result of a chemical process hammers the last nail in your synical coffin of disbelief -God, and love being synonimous of course!" What? I'd love to feel this alleged power. Here's another fine example of this subtle power. Things don't get going until about 2:00 in. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUiPCbz5nGM...feature=related Here's what happens when he offers a challenge to real martial arts. Not pretty. Nah never mind.

Uh...ok. That's from the CHO of Canada? It has no bearing on the feeling you get from putting your awareness in your hands. Mantra claimed that this feeling can be felt from an unlimited distance....I'm waiting.

Well, You nothing about my training and just giving some buzzwords that have meaning to your group is meaningless. I could do the same and you wouldn't be able to answer. One can't prove a negative. Tell you what, let me feel your "circulatory energy" now. And when I report back that I felt nothing you'll just respond with some nonsense like I'm not advanced enough. I can readily show you the application of my neigong. It would hurt though.

From Wikipedia: Main article: Magnetic field The phenomenon of magnetism is "mediated" by the magnetic field -- i.e., an electric current or magnetic dipole creates a magnetic field, and that field, in turn, imparts magnetic forces on other particles that are in the fields. To an excellent approximation (but ignoring some quantum effects---see quantum electrodynamics), Maxwell's equations (which simplify to the Biot-Savart law in the case of steady currents) describe the origin and behavior of the fields that govern these forces. Therefore magnetism is seen whenever electrically charged particles are in motion---for example, from movement of electrons in an electric current, or in certain cases from the orbital motion of electrons around an atom's nucleus. They also arise from "intrinsic" magnetic dipoles arising from quantum effects, i.e. from quantum-mechanical spin. The same situations which create magnetic fields (charge moving in a current or in an atom, and intrinsic magnetic dipoles) are also the situations in which a magnetic field has an effect, creating a force. Following is the formula for moving charge; for the forces on an intrinsic dipole, see magnetic dipole. When a charged particle moves through a magnetic field B, it feels a force F given by the cross product: \vec{F} = q \vec{v} \times \vec{B} where q\, is the electric charge of the particle, \vec{v} \, is the velocity vector of the particle, and \vec{B} \, is the magnetic field. Because this is a cross product, the force is perpendicular to both the motion of the particle and the magnetic field. It follows that the magnetic force does no work on the particle; it may change the direction of the particle's movement, but it cannot cause it to speed up or slow down. The magnitude of the force is where \theta \, is the angle between the \vec{v} \, and \vec{B} \, vectors. One tool for determining the direction of the velocity vector of a moving charge, the magnetic field, and the force exerted is labeling the index finger "V", the middle finger "B", and the thumb "F" with your right hand. When making a gun-like configuration (with the middle finger crossing under the index finger), the fingers represent the velocity vector, magnetic field vector, and force vector, respectively. See also right hand rule. Lenz's law gives the direction of the induced electromotive force (emf) and current resulting from electromagnetic induction. German physicist Heinrich Lenz formulated it in 1834.

Cam, Magnetic energy is a particular thing. What you feel in your body is not that. winpro, Since you like all that other fake stuff: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSvNpfZSz4E...?showtopic=1964

"Make a chi ball between your palms and while you can feel the magnetic field ask yourself if you think the energy is a typical kind of magnetic energy." A "chi ball"? What is this, Dragonball Z? It's not magnetic energy, it's simply a reaction of your circulatory system by putting your attention there.

Nei Gung - What is it? to Starjumper, Buddy, et al.

"I am not talking about a specific type of Qi, more exploring the fact that you said you don't believe in it. Now you are naming different flavors of Qi which seems strange since you don't believe in them." Craig, I didn't say I didn't believe in it. I said I was agnostic. If qi exists I don't think it's necessary to pay much attention to it. I am more concerned about yi. If we do meridian work, we can say we are working with qi. But really it is yi. In the Taiji Classics there is a saying, "The qi is the banner and the mind is the commander." Where the commander commands the banner to go, it goes. All the inner physical manipulation that goes on inside the body is done by using the mind to control. If I want to teach you how to...expand the lower back by use of your breath, I might say, "Bring your breath to your lower back." Well, the breath can only ever be in the lungs, not the lower back. But the mind uses the feeling of the breath to manipulate your inner body. Qigong is a newer term. For me it means breath work. Qigong is a part of neigong. Then, as Pietro pointed out, there is internal alchemy and meditation. Make sense? What kind of qigong do you do? Buddy -
"Your an idiot Cam u dont know the 1st thing about max and his past or training, his teachers you never met, people that know him you never met (apart chris)." This seems unnecessary.

Please read what I wrote and not what you interpret. I said I do not discount qi. I certainly don't believe in this no touch nonsense nor any of the silliness from the video. Qi is a particular paradigm that has yet to be proven. But what are we talking about? Wei Qi? Zhong Qi? Yuan Qi? My point is you don't need a belief in qi to make neigong work. Wang Xiangzhai didn't seem to bother with it overmuch and he was a fairly successful martial artists. Does qi exist? Maybe yes, maybe no. But it doesn't matter. -
I think jakara raises valid points. That your faith gets shaken is on you. And leg shaking as some advanced practice?
