While my background is Taoist neigong and an interest in Buddhism, I've also always been very interested in the personal growth movement. I've read and listen to (and in some cases seen) a lot of Tony Robbins, Wayne Dyer, Brian Tracy, etc. I've started a new blog called Personal Development With Lifeworks. Check it out if this sort of thing interests you. Cheers, Buddy

Lymphoma was 18 years ago. I still teach taiji, xingyi, and baguazhang.

I didn't find it incredible. His students set up a cooperative frame and then it's easy to pop the frame. How useful is it against an uncooperative opponent? Or someone a limp frame? He couldn't do it against either.

Pan Yue is VERY controversial on Taiwan. He started out as a Gao guy, but "invented" his own stuff. It's not terribly profound from a baguazhang perspective. YMMV. Buddy

Thank you, I Hope to See everyone there Luo De Xiu has been practicing and teaching the internal martial arts of Gao Style Baguazhang and Hebei Xingyiquan for over 30 years. Master Luo received his fundamental training from Zhang Zhunfeng's student Hong YiXiang. Zhang Zhunfeng studied directly from the originator of Gao Style Baguazhang, Gao Yisheng. Master Luo went on to study with many of Zhang's other students, including Hong Yiwen and Hong Yimien. Luo also studied with Sun Xikun's student, Liu Qian. Master Luo's years of research into the theory and teaching of the internal arts, as well as his experience in many full-contact competitions gives him the ability to explain internal theory, proper body mechanics and fighting theory in a way that is clear and easy to understand. Well that's stupid. Do you think those percentages hold with ANY other profession? But I guess you're one of those "who know."

Why is it folks begrudge teachers making money but not doctors, ministers, etc? Money is marketing, not skill.

I don't think the issue is any external device. A body w/o dysfunction can handle all sorts of difficulties. It's when we lose our design alignment and its ROM that these these bother our bodies. I encourage everyone to read a copy of The Egoscue Method of Health Through Motion. It really opened my eyes to body alignment and enhanced my understanding of my own neigong tremendously. Perhaps we can discuss the material as well. I have to say, even with my decades of neigong/martial arts experience, it's the best work I've found when dealing with structure. You won't become enlightened with it but you will live much better in your body.

Well I see with what sort I'm dealing. You guys want to believe in these fairy tales, ok. Up next, Hogwarts and Gandalf. You can easliy check the info from wiki (I think much of it is spurious as well). But be prepared to have your illusions shattered. This stuff is like Yellow Bamboo, more debunked BS. The research is NOT convincing and NO double blind tests were made. -
Michael, I also experience sciatica. I've tried it all, chiro, ART, acu, PT. All gave me some relief but not lasting relief. Your muscle memory will always put the musculoskeletal system back into dyfunction. Try getting a copy of Pain Free or Thr Egoscue Method of Health through Motion (library, ebay) Pete's work is the only thing that has really given me lasting relief. And this from a veteran taiji/qigong teacher.

And you've proved mine. Keeping an open mind does not mean to think that brcuase anything MIGHT be possible, some things are. As I said, I know Andrew Nugent-Head from the Bill Moyers clip. He told me its all cooperation. The Majus trick is a well known magic dodge. Here's what wikipedia says about Geller, I'll leave it to you to do the rest of your research: Critics note Geller's demonstrations are not always successful. For example, he is not always able during his "telepathic" drawing demonstrations to define the shape or image drawn. [1] Geller has also at times cancelled performances or failed to produce the expected results, sometimes blaming his apparent lack of psychic power on some interference, exhaustion, or lack of cooperation by the subjects. He was paid to investigate the kidnapping of Hungarian model Helga Farkas, and although he predicted she would be found alive and in good health, she was murdered by her kidnappers [2]. He was reportedly unable to bend a spoon for Richard Feynman, as mentioned in the physicist's book Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman!. Geller was unable to bend any cutlery during a 1973 appearance on The Tonight Show where the spoons he was to bend had been preselected by Johnny Carson. Earlier in his career, Carson had been an amateur stage magician, as had James Randi who advised Carson on how to thwart potential trickery. Randi explained in a 1993 episode of the television show NOVA: "I was asked to prevent any trickery. I told them to provide their own props and not to let Geller or his people anywhere near them. Noel Edmonds was a television prankster who often used hidden cameras to record celebrities in Candid Camera-like situations for his television programme, Noel's House Party. In 1996, Edmonds planned a stunt in which shelves would fall from the walls of a room while Geller was in it. However, the cameras recorded footage of Geller from angles he wasn't expecting. Skeptics claim the video shows Geller forcibly bending the spoon as he stands up, while claiming to to have done it psychically. Geller later claimed that he knew that Edmonds' crew had been filming, and that he made the shelves fall off the wall with his psychic powers." If you think being gullible equates to having an open mind, that says more about you than perhaps you realize. -

Look, if you want to believe in these hokey magic tricks, fine But please don't presume to preach to those of us who aren't taken in by them. All these guys are fakers. -
There is no such word as pagua. perhaps you mean bagua or pa kua.

Hmmm. I'm not convinced you are incorrect. I met Andy Nugent-Head (the American in the show) a couple of times when he brought Xie Pei Qi here in the beginning. At that point he strongly intimated that Shi Ming was a fake. His wude wouldn't allow him to state it outright. I was not so encumbered. We never discussed Shi Ming's thoughts. -

Pleeeze! First the magus, then Shi Ming, now Geller? Fake, faker, fakest. I'm shocked that any of you actually even remotely think that Geller is real. -

Ah, Shi Ming, another well known example of fakery. -
So I'm older than you free. I have to admit to to having done a number of drugs a lot. And to be perfectly honest I did mushrooms, etc for recreational purposes. I wouldn't worry too much. Just be in a very pleasant setting and relax. Nothing matters...and what if it did?
