Off Topic: If You Value Your Online Security You Need To Run Linux

I just wanted to thank you, I had to do a reformat of a machine with xp, and decided to try antivir instead of avg, I must say it is much more lightweight, and while I still don't care for the interface, its improved a lot. From an end users perspective who would never even open the program anyway its fine. I will be installing it on all future rigs as its more secure. -
I would say the universe, but I'm no Tao Te Ching expert.

Thats cool thanks man. Just a note, I am not going to be cut off from civilization, If something goes wrong I would just have to walk about 20 miles to get to my normal home. I may even work weekends and just train mon-friday. I don't know yet, I am going to have to work more to afford repairs to the roof at the cabin, and some other things. I have many years of store-able dried food. Also I plan to garden, but I wont be fishing unless I am starving because of high mercury levels in our lakes here, maybe fishing in the streams.

This probably is not possible, but I think it would be cool if we had a blocklist here on the bums to block new topics by certain people. XD

hey eagle, I can help you with the youtube bug. Someone on the ubuntu team fubarred things up. if you open package manager and search for flash you will see flash-nonfree 10.0.15.3-ubuntu1~intrepid1 is installed so uninstall that completely and choose to adobe-flashplugin 10.0.15.3-intrepid2 and install that now hit apply and close out and restart firefox. That should fix your youtube bug. I dont know how to disable multiple desktops but I did add a workplace switcher to my taskbar by clicking on it which allows me to move in between tasks, I also added a network monitor so I can see when im downloading/uploading if your xp doesn't see your laptops hard drive its probably an old style sata, try going into the bios and making sure its setup so that windows sees it as IDE, if this isn't an option which it should be you should be able to track down who makes your hard drive controller and download the appropriate drivers for it and place that on a floppy, then when installing xp it will say something like press F6 to load other drivers or something then you let it read the drivers off the floppy disk. I dont really know about the corruption bug, but I would rule out a hardware failure first thing. download memtest, burn it to a cd and boot and test your ram a few times to make sure you get no errors. http://www.memtest.org/ Download spinrite 6 and burn it to an iso, and do the same for your hard drive, if it doesn't see your hard drive most likely there is a bios option you can enable to make it standard ide, thats what I recommend doing. Then test your drive out, make sure that you do a number 4 locate surface defects scan, it will take a while. spinrite is located on thepiratebay/demonoid/mininova if all that comes back ok, then perhaps its your isp, or something wrong with your network card. -

I think I get the message your trying to convey, but I still liked the instruction manual video. I think it had a good and inspirational message, about questioning authority, taking nothing for granted and arriving at your own conclusions, thinking for yourself. Thats the kind of spirituality I adhere to, and would say the buddha adhered to also.

I like to burn nag champa or a good sandal wood, just because. I don't have to use it in meditation but finds it does seem help me personally, I can relax more, when the air is pregnant with smoke.

I think women have vastly more potential in this area than men, but men have more drive and determination than women, so it balances out.

Nag Champa, and good sandal wood are my favorites, but then again I really haven't looked for others. I can buy legit nag champa (the blue box stuff) in bulk for so cheap on ebay. I've got about 1000 sticks. I tried some of master lin's incense, its ok I guess but I didn't like it very much. It looks like that "gold" version is made by a different company, I'd be interested to see if it is better I might place an order for some of their incense

I get really frustrated with humanity, do you guys realize we could be Gods right now? I mean seriously, we could be masters of this reality, using energy and thought to mold this reality into whatever we desired. No death, access to knowledge undreamed of whatever we wanted. It would just require us buckling down and working towards gaining a true understand of reality via science. Instead 99.9999% of humanity slaves away each day to produce useless shit for everyone else to consume. We spend more on god damn makeup each year than we do on all the science, research and education costs. I am glad our priorities are strait. Sometimes it makes me sick how much of our potential we really waste..

The future of lighting is LED... LED's will outlive you and be far more efficient than CFL lights and have no mercury, also they will be dimable.

Well I mean its not like I try to lecture people on religion or what they should believe. I mean shit if I hang out with them I have to hear about their interests all day like football, and cars, weed, and whores, and such, for hours. Yet showing them a clip from the discovery channel of a guy running 15 miles half naked and barefoot in negative temps is "obviously fake" swimming under ice for 200ft thats fake, Harvard studies, Guinness world records, yup fake too. I mean I think its great to be skeptical, I really do, but when confronted with hard evidence like that and not even being willing to entertain the possibility, thats not even skepticism anymore its denial. As far as I know tummo and mo pai are the only two arts so far that have been validated in such a way, which is why I try hard to stick to information about these systems and exclude almost all the others.

the spring forest qigong course is probably one of the best for health purposes. you can just buy the manuals and get mostly everything you would from the entire course, there are manuals for levels 1-3, and a cd for level 4.
-
I don't really get it, exactly though... how can you watch a man run barefoot, almost naked 15 miles in negative degree temps, and swim under an ice covered lake for 200 feet and just say its bullshit.. ignore all the harvard studies... It just boggles my mind. ""'yup discovery channel faked it", that was his response verbatim.. just makes me want to scream... ugg

I'd say first start by defining what you hope to accomplish by this practice, and then look for a practice to meet your goal accordingly. I'd say the spring forest qigong course is probably the best home course out there, there is a book called the tao of meditation, which has some real neigong training info in it. Robert bruce also has some methods which get results fast by combining deep trance, with energy work. I've got a list of materials I find effective for practice in my personal practice forum you might want to check that out if your bored.

Yes but why spend 30 years of your life dedicated to daily training just to make a few sparks, there are better goals to have like getting out of this prison, evolving, and transcending.
