http://www.amazon.com/Tao-Meditation-Way-E.../dp/0804814651/ These are just some personal notes I typed up from reading this book, kind of like a cliff-notes version. The book imho is worth buying if found it wonderful, enjoyable and very easy to comprehend compared to other instructions on taoist meditation (e.g. Taoist Yoga, C. Luk) If anyone has anything to add or correct, or any insights please share them. Ching is the physical and sexual essence of the body. Chi is the animating force of the body. If Ching were a light bulb, chi would be the electricity making it shine. Shen is the intelligent and guiding force behind our consciousness itself, the essence of consciousness and or spirit. Converting Ching to Chi: Celibacy is required for 100 days, to accumulate sexual energy (ching) for transmutation into chi. Sit in full lotus if possible, palms upward resting hand in hand, tips of thumbs touching, eyes closed but focused on the tan tein, all awareness should be focused at the lower tan tein. Begin by breathing as deeply and slowly(less is more) as possible (within comfort zones), these breaths should affect only the lower abdomen. After achieving a deep state of relaxation, you can begin to contract anus, perineum, and genitals in a kegel like exercise, similar to the sensation of holding back the need to use the bathroom. This stimulates sexual energy and begins to draw it up towards the tan tein, use imagined sensations to actually feel upward pressure coming from the perineum to the tan tein. Practice this daily for as long as possible to allow sexual energy to increase resulting in noticeable pleasure. During meditation allow this sexual pressure to build, but ignore sexual fantasies if they arise as they will derail your meditation. Timing for the next step is crucial as if the pressure goes too far it could result in spontaneous orgasm, and release all the ching you have been accumulating. Make sure the tongue touches the roof of the mouth. When the time is right, inhale fully and contract abdomen at the same time. Using your imagination actually and physically feel your breath traveling down through your abdomen, down to your perineum and then absorbing the sexual sensations, then it moves up the spine directly behind the tan tein. Repeat this process, but each time go a little bit future with the sexual energy up the spine, until it is rolled around in the microcosmic orbit. (up and around to the the final resting place for it which is the lower tan tein, where it remains.) If sexual feelings are still present after the orbit is complete repeat as many times as necessary, until feelings are gone, as this shows the ching is not completely converted and stored. Converting Chi To Shen: This step is to be followed in succession to Ching to Chi for at least 100 days of celibacy. Make sure the tongue touches the roof of the mouth. When inhaling Contract the stomach, and feel the breath starting at the perineum being pulled up like a rope, up the spine to the crown of the head. When exhaling Expand the stomach and feel the breath being pushed down the front of the body and eventually to the perineum. The next circulation exercises involve the same steps as before, except after reaching the tan tein it travels back up and out the arms to the fingertips, and then alternates to the legs down to the toes. Eventually after practicing these exercises for long enough you forget your physical body, and can only feel the movement of energy along the channels. Your breathing slows to an almost unnoticeable level. Eventually you may have the experience of empty all encompassing light. Focus your attention now, to the an area between and behind the eyes, in the center of the brain. Look with your eyes as though you were looking inward at your third eye. Eventually this will lead to the experience of inner light. Eventually the light will grow brighter and even be able to be felt, its glow will be like bright moon light. After much practice you should be able to easily access this light. At this point we learn to move the light from the third eye position down slowly to the lower tan tein. We move this light slowly up and down the front of the body, indefinitely. Eventually breathing and heartbeat seem to completely stop, this state may continue for hours, or days even if time permits. This may eventually lead to the experience of the void and the creation of a spiritual body which may leave your physical body of its own accord. The book goes into this more, but doesn't actually describe what to do at this point.

Off Topic: Anyone Else From The USA Scared For Their Life?

I've never been more afraid in my life, We are on the brink of economic collapse and martial law. I have 6 years of food, multivitamins, and clean water available, but will it be enough? I am worried just about basic survival... Anyone else here feel the same? Is anyone else preparing? http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=70...IST%3A+ADDENDUM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HaG9d_4zij8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYxTzDFofZQ http://blog4paul.blogspot.com/2008/10/hcr-...izona-will.html -

What Does Yin Energy Feel Like? How Do You Cultivate it?
mwight posted a topic in General Discussion
It seems the group here is in consensus that if you can feel energy inside of you during meditation its most definitely yang. I remember from the magus of java, that kosta compared yin energy to feel like fullness inside your body. I have been trying to work more with yin and wondering if anyone here has any experience with it, what it feels like, effective ways to gather it etc. Any input is much appreciated. -
I have recently started lifting weights again, I ripped tendons in my left elbow which I seem able to control inflammation now via qigong. I have noticed I am bulking up faster than I ever have. I focus on drawing out yang chi from my lower tan-tein to pump into my muscles, right before the exercise begins. I can feel hot fire like chi pouring almost orgasmic-ally (sp) into my pectorals or biceps, and it seems the sky is the limit. I also do after exercise qigong to sooth sore muscles before they start, which surprisingly seems to work for me. I have never done steroids but I would consider this a significant leap in my weight lifting and practice, on par with stories of steroid use I have encountered. Anyone else have similar experiences?

Anyone else here ever get this... I'm going to vent for a bit so be warned... Has anyone else here every ever had a friend they tried to turn on to all this cool stuff, like qigong/neigong or tummo meditation, only to be met with the response "oh thats bullshit". Then you try to show them studies done on these monks like I dunno these: http://www.hno.harvard.edu/gazette/2002/04.18/09-tummo.html R-wuOYlxMSY And you show the video's of people like tummo master wim hof on discovery channel, or him breaking a Guinness world record: jfCsSDiPZxk madoDvtKEes Or documentaries done on John Chang or Ram Bahadur Bomjon No matter how much testing or who did the documentary... its all just horse shit... it's fake... impossible. etc. etc. I mean sometimes I just want to beat my head against the wall... Anyone else here ever feel the same way?

Would anyone living or staying in China be willing to help a fellow bum?
mwight posted a topic in General Discussion
Hi everyone. I have a close friend who will be traveling to China making a trip to see a few high level masters. I know one master is near Beijing. He is also traveling to Lung Fu Shan in Jiangxi Province. Also he may be seeing another master but I am unsure where he is located, so as I get more info I'll post it. Money is tight and I was wondering if anyone would be willing to help him. If you are in china and would be willing to accommodate him he is a high level student, kind and sincere. If you live or rent in china and would be willing to help please let me know. I believe he will be leaving in around or before Christmas I believe. -

Nei Gong: Taoist Process of Internal Change
mwight replied to Thunder_Gooch's topic in General Discussion
I am going to quote master Lin here, I hope he wont mind. Three Secrets of Practicing Qigong Effectively 1) Go into the emptiness Countless different Qigong and meditation exercises exist. All teach the basic idea of using consciousness to go into the emptiness where thoughts ultimately cease or greatly diminish and sensory connections to our bodies fade. We and everything in our world are all from the emptiness and will go back to the emptiness. It is a state of pure energy where we are one with the universe. Our bodies naturally direct us to the emptiness. When we get sick, for example, the first place we go is not to the hospital, but to bed. When we sleep, we feel relaxed and peaceful. We bring our mind and body into the emptiness. Everybody does this automatic meditation without noticing it during sleep and periods of deep relaxation. Most of our daily energy blockages are opened and resolved in this way The deeper you go into the emptiness, the faster your body will heal. By practicing Qigong we go into the emptiness where we effortlessly balance the Yin and Yang, the female and male energy. As the balance of energy comes back, the body heals. 2) Keep it simple My masters told me the most powerful is usually the simplest. Many Qigong exercises are too complicated and cloaked with mystery. Qigong, in its fundamental form, is very simple. For instance, it is very easy to open energy channels. When you open your fingers, all the energy channels in the hands open. When you move your heels up and down, you open all six energy channels in the feet. It is not necessary to learn complicated movements to open channels and release blocks. 3) Use your consciousness When doing Qigong exercise, we use sensation of the body to feel the moving Qi. How we use our mind influences the flow of Qi. Positive thoughts, for example, encourage you to gain back your health and instantaneously direct Qi in optimal ways. Negative thoughts, on the other hand, discourage you from fulfilling your task, block energy, and create sickness. -Chunyi Lin Spring Forest Qigong -
I'm Just Curious
-
A friend of mine turned me onto this meditation. I think it is very powerful, and profound. The goal is not to focus on the breath itself, but the mechanism of mind which initiates breathing. So when your breath in and out focus on the mechanism which started the breathing process. I find it creates a feedback loop, my mind kind of gets stuck in, using consciousness to find its origin... really interesting meditation.. check out their site... http://www.darkzen.com/dzfaq.html

Has anyone here thought about getting a group of people together for the purpose of purchasing a large amount of rural land in Montana or elsewhere that could be turned into a self sufficient commune for cultivators? Wouldn't that be cool? A community of people off grid just growing their own food maybe working part time once a year to get some cash for necessities outside of the commune. Is there anything like this anywhere besides Buddhist monasteries etc?

I did actually have an online account to a paid service hacked (brain.com IQ training software) they changed my username to gayfaghole and I never could get my password back. I called the owner of the site and spoke to him, he dodged the issue and eventually the service shut down. I called the local police about investigating, they told me to call the cops in the town where the business was located, I called them, they told me to call the fbi, I called the fbi and was given the run around. So even if you have proof most authorities don't care about cyber crime unless they have a bug up their ass about something.
