Not just Dudjom Lingpa. Many tertons, including modern day Dudjom Rinpoche, Dilgo Khyetse, Kuzang Dechen Lingpa. For these high level masters, it would be unusual not to have these experiences. -

No no no. In these cases, one's own wisdom takes the form of deities, Pure Lands etc., especially in a lucid dream environment where clarity is 7 times higher. -

"Spirit guides", which are actually negative entities. A bunch of stuff about ascended masters. Throw in a little bit of quantum physics also. -
Descriptions and explanations of "The Now"
RongzomFan replied to Harmonious Emptiness's topic in General Discussion
If define NOW as the instant of unfabricated freshness (ma bcos shes pa skad cig ma), then thats correct. If you define NOW as mindfulness then thats wrong. -

You got unfabricated NOW on one hand. And you got the conceptualizing mind on the other. -

On the subject of fraudulent New Age, there is the famous book, Siren Call of Hungry Ghosts by Fisher. He came to the conclusion that spirits in New Age channeling are fraudulent and devious hungry ghosts. He also committed suicide because of these tormenting spirits. -

Its history is bogus. A derivative of another modern invention, Golden Dawn magick. -
I am open to the argument that there was no historical Buddha, but that is a shit website. Stop wasting my time.

Buddhism in China: A Historical Survey
RongzomFan replied to Creation's topic in Buddhist Discussion
Its a shame what the commies did to Buddhism in China, and Tibet. -
I highly doubt the Karmapa praised Osho. The whole account is off, including the New Age stuff like Akashic Records.

You are free to take Bon terma history as actual, just like Buddhists do with the terma biographies of Padmasambhava, Vimalamitra or Virupa.

Hajime Nakamura, Trevor Leggett. A History of Early Vedānta Philosophy, Part 2. Reprint by Motilal Banarsidass Publ., 2004 page 284-6 "As was pointed out in detail in the section titled Interpretation, many particular Buddhist terms or uniquely Buddhist modes of expression may be found in it." "From the fact that many Buddhist terms are found in its explanation, it is clear that this view was established under the influence of the Mahayana Buddhist concept of Void." "Although Buddhistic influence can be seen in the Maitri-Upanishad, the particular terms and modes of expression of Mahayana Buddhism do not yet appear, whereas the influence of the Mahayana concept of Void can clearly be recognized in the Mandukya-Upanisad." "Although Mahayana Buddhism strongly influenced this Upanisad, neither the mode of exposition of the Madhyamika school nor the characteristic terminology of the Vijnanavada school appears."

Well thats B.S.

Did you even click on the link? The whole Tonpa Shenrab story comes from a late terma.
-
This sort of thing depends on whether you take terma history as actual history.

If you think I'm being anti-Bon, I'll also say that the Padmasambhava and Vimalamitra never heard of Dzogchen. Padmasambhava did not go around Tibet and Bhutan subjugating local spirits. There was a historical Padmasambhava, but all he did was subjugation at Samye, and got chased the hell out of Tibet.

"The conclusion I’d like to draw is that at least some Buddhists, by the end of the 10th century and perhaps earlier, thought of the funeral rituals practised in earlier times by Tibetan ritual specialists as a religion called Bon. I suspect that this was not quite the same thing that Tibetans meant when they said “Bon” after the 10th century." http://earlytibet.com/2009/08/24/buddhism-and-bon-iv/
