Hi Vaj, I did read that on the blog, but Namdrol is talking about other stuff. My point is that you mainly talk about Theravada stuff, which is not applicable to Vajrayana, let alone Dzogchen. Although I agree Dzogchen is the same enlightenment as Shakyamuni Buddha, the various yanas are definitely NOT compatible. Emptiness and dependent origination are explained differently in Dzogchen. It is explained differently is Madhymakia. It is explained differently in Yogacara. One of the biggest errors in Dzogchen is to use a lower yana understanding.

The problem is that much of what you say on this forum is not accurate from every point of view in buddhism. Certainly not from the Dzogchen point of view, which is the definitive view of Vajrayana.

If you enjoyed my posts on Robert Bruce's material in the last few weeks, please sign up here: http://astralbob.com/ He has stated he wants as many people as possible to sign up. He's basically going to start posting free video lessons, if I am understanding correctly. He's even going to post some stuff on kundalini!

By the way, you don't have to sign up for anything for these free video lessons. here is the direct link: http://astralbob.com/blog/ And the videos are actually on youtube as well: http://www.youtube.com/user/RealAstralBob#p/u

Hi guys, I studied Madhymakia for a while, and maybe I can clear up a few things if I can remember it. If there was a permanent unchanging "something", like God, Brahman etc., it would not be able to interact with this universe, because this universe is dependently originated. The two natures would be incompatible. Utterly incompatible. Secondly, if there was a permanent Self all of us would commit suicide because death would not matter.

Make a sharp distinction between awareness and mind (thoughts)

Make a sharp distinction between awareness and mind (thoughts). By the way, awareness is just ordinary awareness coming out of your eyeballs and is looking at the computer screen right now. Now you are a nonduality master just like Adyashanti or whomever. If you need more help read the second paragraph here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dzogchen -

Its not even about that. Lhun grub correlates to thogal. Kadgag correlates to trecho. Namdrol checked that info out, and it is good info. Actually I basically took what he wrote and jammed it in there, and made him double check it -

I guess you didn't read the whole thing, but my point is that lhun grub has to do with thogal, yangti etc. Kadag is primordial purity, and that is trecho -

No, lhungrub only refers to the esoteric practices that lead to rainbow body. But yes, in practice Dzogchen is beyond words views etc. -

Well my understanding of the mind in the Dzogchen context means thoughts. its really about nirvanic primordial purity (crystal ball or mirror) versus samsaric impure mind. -

Loppon Namdrol used to say all sorts of things like rigpa is beyond mind, utterly beyond mind, distinguishing rigpa from mind etc. etc. I really think Dzoghchen is beyond mind. -

I come from Dzogchen standpoint. Rigpa is beyond mind. Dzogchen is the only system that does NOT use mind. -

Its not really awareness, its more primordial purity, but I don't have the patience to go into that. -

Wrong The distinction between awareness and mind is not duality. The mind is dualistic in nature. If you go beyond the mind... From the perspective of Dzogchen, the ultimate nature of all sentient beings is said to be pure, all-encompassing, primordial awareness or naturally occurring timeless awareness. This "intrinsic awareness" has no form of its own and yet is capable of perceiving, experiencing, reflecting, or expressing all form. It does so without being affected by those forms in any ultimate, permanent way. This pristine awareness is what Dzogchenpas refer to as rigpa. The analogy given by Dzogchen masters is that one's nature is like a mirror which reflects with complete openness but is not affected by the reflections, or like a crystal ball that takes on the colour of the material on which it is placed without itself being changed. Having distinguished rigpa from mind, one is not distracted by the mind, i.e. one does not let thoughts lead onself. This allows thoughts to naturally self-liberate without avoidance. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dzogchen -
I think this method is better than reiki. Reiki doesn't pump energy through the heart chakra. http://www.astraldynamics.com/home/healing.html

Me too, although it was a long time ago and I only got a B. Just go to Barnes and Noble or a library and pick any decent ACADEMIC book written by a PhD and tell me where it says hinduism is older than buddhism. I challenge you.

Every website still has those fake correspondances with Jesus and Horus that every historian has debunked. Someone creates fake info, and it spreads. For example those budget Virginia textbooks that were not written by a PhD, because the district wanted to save some money. The author just did internet research like you. Now its a big fuckin mess over CNN. I'll leave your thread so you can think about that. http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=Virginia+textbooks#q=Virginia+textbooks&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbo=u&tbs=nws:1&source=og&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wn&fp=5e05e53c8dca3128

If you are not interested in Hinduism don't write stuff about it with invented facts.

You should read any decent academic elementary book on Hinduism written by a PhD
