You don't need a Creator to believe in the mystical. You can still have your afterlife, Pure Lands etc.
-
I don't believe in #2. I am with #1, but people, like yourself, don't understand the radicalness of sunyata.
-
The universe is completely equivalent to an illusion; not "like an illusion". Everything is completely illusory, since phenomena never arise in the first place. This is a good summary of that reasoning: http://www.dharmawheel.net/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=6185&start=220#p74244 Dream is just a metaphor which is present in Madhyamaka.

There is no wikipedia article on Direct Path, but there is one on Neoadvaita. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neo-Advaita
-
With no direct introduction, what you follow is Nondirect Path.
-
Dharmakaya is just the realization of emptiness.
-
Feel free. I don't care.
-
One has to first justify that a Creator is even possible....
-
This is a good summary, unless you want me to quote a page of stuff: http://www.dharmawheel.net/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=6185&start=220#p74244

This thread is in response to this: http://thetaobums.com/topic/32458-anadi-buddhism-has-flaws/

I'm just following up on this: http://thetaobums.com/topic/31512-a-sovereign-god-question/page-3#entry501488 Unless you wanted me to derail that thread. Can't win with you guys!

Big Bang is a budding off another universe, or from the remnants of a previous universe. No need for a Creator.
-
Logically you can. Logically the Big Bang has causes, which itself has causes, which itself has causes, which itself has causes, which itself has causes, which itself has causes, which itself has causes, which itself has causes, which itself has causes, which itself has causes, which itself has causes, which itself has causes, which itself has causes etc.

There is no Creator in Buddhadharma from Shravakayana to Atiyoga yangti. Devas and Buddhas have previous lives as humans etc. There is no being that is a Creator in Buddhism.
-
You can say the same exact thing about leprechauns, fairies, gnomes, elves, unicorns etc.
-
I'm just a Buddhist.
-
Watch the PBS video above. The Intelligent Design people got completely destroyed.
-
All these type of views were debunked in American federal court in 2005, after a very lengthy and complete trial.
-
You can debunk a Creator. Logically the Big Bang has causes, which itself has causes, which itself has causes etc. There is no place for a Creator in an ad infinitum regression of cause and effect. And then if you counter by saying a Creator is beyond cause and effect, you are trapped again. If a Creator is beyond cause and effect, it cannot interact with our physics.
-
I just realized what Adept's first video in the other thread is. Those types of views were completely debunked in American federal court in 2005: PBS documentary on the trial: Original Link at PBS: http://video.pbs.org/video/980040807/
-
I saw enough of the idiots in the second video talking about cause and effect.
-
LMAO, you just said God is beyond cause and effect:
-
Adept, If a creator is beyond cause and effect, how does it interact with our physics? Yes you did debunk yourself. I will skim through the first video.
-
I skimmed through the second video, resulting in this thread. If Creator is beyond all cause and effect, he would have no way of interacting with this universe. Thanks for debunking yourself.

Come on now. Even on NPR they were talking about how Muhammed thought he was possessed by djinn, and wanted to commit suicide. And even Muhammed's scribe, Abdullah ibn Sa‘ad, thought he was fraud. Abdullah ibn Sa‘ad actually wrote some of the verses of the Koran.
