India has been westernized for hundreds of years. India was a British colony, not to mention the other European countries.

Isn't Khenpo Ngawang Pelzang recommending practices akin to those found in Pure Land Buddhism? Don't tertons experience all sorts of Pure Lands in their lives?

So is the western Abrahamic media ignoring this? I don't see this on the frontpage of CNN etc.

Are you not a suffering human being yourself? Learn Buddhadharma, end your own suffering, and then maybe you can help others. Who is ignoring others? I already said the starting point of Mahayana is the bodhisattva motivation to become an omniscient Buddha to benefit infinite sentient beings. This motivation is key throughout all of Vajrayana.

Right, you have no understanding. That's the problem. You are supposed to work on your own suffering first and become an omniscient Buddha.

I didn't say Milarepa was a scholar. But Milarepa was highly educated in Buddhism. In Indo-Tibetan Vajrayana, you are supposed to: 1) receive full teachings 2) become a lay person (if not one already), go to a cave etc. and put teachings into practice. So everyone in Tibetan Buddhism rags on scholars, not just Milarepa.

The Mahayana goal is to become an omniscient Buddha, so that you may benefit infinite sentient beings.

Noone can damn anyone to hell in Buddhism. If you wind up in hell, that's your own karma (action).

Padmasambhava is not a historical character. He is a terma character and/or manifestation of a tertons' own wisdom.

It depends on the definition of deities. Indian deities are rather different than western deities. Rebirth and all that.
