hi awaken, I applaud your efforts to teach this, even though we both know it can not be 'taught', in either Chinese or English. I hope your QQ groups are more respectful of your efforts, and do not go off on their own personal tangents and 'my way is better than your way' as happens here so often...and shouldn't, when someone is trying to share.

What gold cup??? :goes to look: Ack. I can fix that. Gimme a minute. Edit to add: There. Did that do it? Long live Marblehead!

Works for me!! Or... people could just have some self-control and only come in every other day.

So how are real rednecks not part of your land?

Clues? Many ideas reflect this, some more than others perhaps, but there is nothing that can 'point' to what is unboundaried and has nothing to do with chi, polarity, orbits or energy.

The door is always open. It seems slammed shut because of one's need for practices, treasure hunts, method validations.

Now that is funny! You have nothing to apologize for, Lost in Translation. Words are limited; rarely do they convey what they are meant to when describing these things. Which is why understanding the accompanying and underlying essence of what it typed makes for better communication. When I first read your top quote, I thought it was brilliant (and funny!). Don't apologize for your own skill set.

Probably we could, but maybe a light-touch staff is more helpful to each bum's practice; more opportunity to look at what bothers you and why. Dark with the light, and all that.

It is, imo, as the very last barrier to a blended perspective.

(my bold) You have outlined nicely what I call 'either/or' thinking. I agree it causes much confusion, trying to hop on one foot and then the other...rather than finding a way to stand on Both at the same time...which can absolutely be utilized in all situations. I agree that keeping them perceived as isolate (from each other) and needing to be hopped between is difficult for most to mitigate. In this, our perspectives part ways. Although the initial words in your quote: " ...tradition B certainly does not encourage giving up self, nor renouncing only self." suggests one thing - the underlying essence of your word choices of 'self-existing entity' and 'What tradition B does encourage, however, is to find out for oneself if life is lived better when there is a strong clinging onto notions of an independently existing self.' is that it is better to make that particular choice; i.e...stay hopping on one foot, and that foot only. It seems the wise would be able to stand on both sides of the fence simultaneously; realizing that 'creating situations' is an unnecessary expenditure of energy in an unboundaried reality. Very interesting ideas and methods in tradition B, C T, and I thank you for sharing them. To me, it seems like a very long and frequently frustrating way around the barn; yet if one enjoys their journey - what could be wrong with that? (-: Again, thanks for your words; most appreciated. warmest regards

Yeppers! Why is it, then, that traditions (D and B ) teach giving up self, when they could be teaching giving up only self? Why not teach 'Both' from the start?

You are right, when the 'resting' is contrived, or part of the 'either/or' mindset. With a blended perspective, it's easy and as natural as breathing - for more than 'resting' is at play. For me, yes, both, same time. Some traditions hold that it must be one or the other; I find no need to exclude or deny one half of the whole. warm regards

After first reading the DDJ 40 yrs ago, I asked Laozi for more... more of his words! lol This is what he whispered in my ear: What could I show you that you have not already seen? What could I tell you that you have not already heard? What could you learn that you do not already understand? There is no need to be kind, just be yourself. Kindness comes naturally. There is no need to be just. As a whole human, you are already just. Being who you are in your heart, brings everything. You already know these things. They are naturally known, because they are natural. What more could I say that would be of any use? Seems Laozi agrees with your idea, silent thunder. (-: warm greetings

dearest manitou, I have been where you are, for the same reason. Yes, you are powerless in this. All you can do, now, is to choose and decide to keep breathing. Others' words of comfort or advice, though appreciated, have little affect. Just know you are loved, and still loved by Joe. For me, sinking into the grief was the way through it and it will last as long as it does, then it changes into something else; fighting that flow, or trying to control it, is harmful, ime. Take best of care, love rene

so it seems to be (-:

Lost - yeah!!! So clearly Both!! 🎯

Dang! Figured if anyone did, it'd be you.

Very cool vid, C T, thanks for posting that. Question, using the vid's ideas - Does enlightenment, as being free from delusions, also include the delusion of being free from delusion? Not trying to circle jerk here... just like with the multi-legged centipede - sometimes the last leg, the last step, is letting go of even that! I dont make my ego important enough to worry about... and since I'm not Buddhist or Daoist or any other -ist I enjoy reading/watching/hearing about others' ideas. (-:

SJ, edit all you'd like; my reply ^^ is keeping your original post.

Ah ok, got it. You were going by the words; I was going by the underlying essence. No harm, no foul. (-:

Might be a major misread on your part re one specific aspect: duration. He has said the same things you've said all along... that a 'brief glimpse' aint 'it' - and that some masters self-proclaim after only a glimpse. How is that different from your opinion? lol like you dont? I didn't see his post as a specific attack on you.... but if you did, if you saw yourself in his words, then ya got something new to ponder, I guess. I could easily be wrong, of course, and Spotless can clarify, or not, as he wishes. All good.
