  1. Misinterpretation at its finest

They can do that because each of us understand things from our own perspectives - which are based on several factors: experiences, environments, preferences, interests, etc. Do you feel everyone should think the same things you do? Or see what you see? Or understand things in the same way you do? Your intentions may be good, in wanting to save others unnecessary effort - but who is to say what path is 'better' for someone else? Not me, not any of us, imo.
  2. Gospel of Thomas

    Warrants repeating, boldly.
  3. Misinterpretation at its finest

Aw, c'mon Wizdomkeyz, tell us how you really feel. There's a good handful here who share your thinking, and who also hold LZ & ZZ in top regard. Not everyone can see what you see however, so, like Marblehead, I look forward to your respectful input in the threads. Welcome.
  4. Staff addition and update

I can cook a small fish without eating the meal. Thanks for the well wishes!
  5. The Cucumber Sage

Guess not, lol. Who is to know what might spark someone out of 'either/or' thinking, heh. Seems I'm just a one-trick pony. 🐎🌲
  6. The Cucumber Sage

Loved that film! and yes, very much so!
  7. The Cucumber Sage

    Yeppers, both same time.
  8. The Cucumber Sage

    You just did. (-:
  9. Staff addition and update

Judge me by my 'heh' do you? Hmm? Well you should not - for the Dao is my ally and a powerful ally it is.
  10. Staff addition and update

Thanks! Dawei is in charge of mercy & Kar3n does the justice thing... What I do you'll never see coming, heh. (-:
  11. Staff addition and update

Thanks all! And especially to TheLearner, whose breeze I could feel from here as he ran out the Staff door! Great job, Mike; big shoes for me to step into. Looking forward to your untethered interactions. πŸŒ²β„πŸ¦‹πŸ’œβ›·
  12. Belated New Year Greetings

Me too, especially after just seeing his nick on this morning's bumped up threads. πŸ¦‹

  15. Yes. That's the source and origin of what I call 'Both, same time.' Thank you for the post Wu Ming Jen; delightful to read. (-: warm greetings
  16. Mair 12:2

Or both of them, heh. ZZ took LZs ideas and twisted them into unrecognizable lumps using more words than any Übermensch has a right to. Imo, of course. :-D

    purple people-eater. (you're welcome)
  18. (my bolding above) Yes Yes! YES! It is what comes through the words, rather than the words themselves, that is perceived, and informs as to intent/meaning! Very well put, 3bob. Very well indeed! That must be why I like the Feng/English translation so much. I've been told many times its not the most accurate rendition, but to me it's not over-burdened with excess ideas and it sure speaks to me. (-: Warmest regards
  19. Gun Control and Shootings

You cant protect yourself from bad shit like Vegas - and no one, and no government, and no laws, can protect you from that either. What you can do, though, is decide how you are going to live your life. Your choice, your actions, your responsibility. Not someone else's.
  20. Gun Control and Shootings

I think we should make guns illegal. That will work. Just like it did with drugs.
  21. Little Things

Toileting: Check for paper before you sit down.
  22. Refering to Laozi, I agree with your thinking. Refering to the translators, there is too much buddhist/christian/other bias present in many of the translations for me to agree; I doubt they shared LiEhr's perspective. Such would be the case even moreso - if one holds the TTC had several authors.
  23. Right, which illustrates the semantic difficulties, and confusion, that unfortunate word choices can bring.
  24. You are right, there is nothing that needs 'returning' to. Many seek what is not lost in the first place. Some readers of the TTC do not understand this, possibly because the translators did not either; all of which Laozi was likely very aware of.
  25. Because sex is the most primal, yes, and during orgasm the view into the transcendent is more clear... effectively bringing together the experiences of what you describe as being separate. Conception - is also the bringing together of the primal and the transcendent...merging into the 'spark of life'. I hope you keep us updated on your attempts. Very interesting idea.
