Seeing, Recognising & Maintaining One's Enlightening Potential

It might be a difficulty with the word 'Attachment'... some folks think you're not supposed to like anything at all. Yeppers, that's me! 🎈 -
Thank you for expressing your preferences (which I happen to share) and I'm curious - are you Attached to the outcome of your Desire for only respectful dialogue? I ask because I enjoy your words very much and would hate to see less of them. (-:

True, that. Evidenced by the extremes of political leaders, on both sides, at the moment. Thankfully, this, too, shall pass. High winds do not last all morning, heavy rains do not last all day.

Hiya rabbit-trout (-: Using your lake analogy.... seems what you want is an only-clean lake... but that might not be a healthy balance. Once the carp eat themselves out of food supply & die off, what will keep the incoming detritus at bay? Always there will be decaying trout & assundry flotsam & jetsam. Perhaps your lake can find a range of balance, like the gentle rise & fall of waves, wherein all fish-lives matter. 🦈 Can there be dark without light? Light without dark? Do you think you can improve upon nature's balancing act? I dont think it can be done.

These two quotes, Jeff's and especially the bolded line in Apech's, point to an idea that is on the way - but incomplete in its understanding, and therefore usefulness, imo. Like the flower desires, and turns toward, the sun - so it is natural for us to desire things: food, shelter, love. Most may agree there is nothing wrong with desiring those things, yes? But what about things pleasurable yet not necessary for survival? Those are the things the two quotes are pointing at. One quote (and more than one tradition) seem to suggest eliminating all desire by removing exposure to the things that are the sources of desire - which I find to be an unnatural method. The other quote (and still other traditions) suggest to not be attached to "things" to avoid desire for them. This idea is less severe than the first - but still lacking, imo. To me, (my) desires are natural - but unimportant. Both in their existance and fulfillment. They are unimportant because I also know there is "no way" that I can predict if fulfilling them would be to my betterment or detriment. Would getting the pony turn out well? Who knows? Not me, lol, so whatever comes is okay! I have a favorite tea cup! ☕ Unlike the Master who quickly broke his when realizing he did too (to avoid attachment) - I'm going to keep, use & cherish mine, until it breaks which it eventually will, then say 'Aw..damn,' sweep up the pieces..and pick a new favorite one! Life is good. 🌻 -

Could be, sure. Or maybe it runs deeper: "Those who dream of the banquet, wake to lamentation and sorrow. Those who dream of lamentation and sorrow wake to join the hunt." - ZZ -

You want a pony. You also want to keep wanting a pony. You actually want to keep wanting more than you want the pony...so you sabotage ever getting a pony. Your "wanting" wins: you never get a pony...but you do get to keep wanting one. -
Perhaps Political Reconcilliation through Exhaustion - has as good a chance as anything. Peace & blessings to all.

I think that only an Anarchist and an Apolitical replying to the thread - speaks volumes as to others' degree of entrenchment. Which leads to one more idea to start with: Lighten tf up - and sort out your priorities. Guess that's two ideas. (-:
-
Good post, rabbit. It might be, for things to change in the manner you describe, two ideas will need to be embraced by all of us. 1. Give up rigid 'either/or' thinking; especially quit the need to 'chose a side' - which only reinforces the idea that there has to be two sides...when the reality is we can all be on the same side while seeking workable outcomes. 2. Allow for the possibility of something different to happen in the next moment. We have to give others the opportunity to change their minds, to make different choices, to be different than they were before. ChuangTzu called this 'a springtime in every moment'. More ideas and changes would be needed for sure... these two are small ones maybe we could each do, as a start. I applaud your intentions, effort and heart. You are not alone. warm regards

Hi, In an attempt to find a way to ignore a topic - I decided to try ignoring a new bum who started a topic, and guess what happened! "You are not allowed to ignore that member." That msg only appears when trying to add a member of Staff to the ignore list. What's up, buttercups? 🤡 p.s...tried my idea on a diff bum, got the usual 'you've chosen to ignore...' msg, but the topic he'd started was still on the Topics/Activities lists. Oh well.
-
Hey! My little envelope thingy is back! Thanks boss!🍷
-
yes, please. and you figured out who the bum is from my last post, yes?
-
I turned my PMs off & cant find where to turn them back on. I'm such a Fool. (;
-
Then again... nothing blocks that horrid red tag bar across the top of that Help Me thread. wtf?? We really need a Topic Ignore function. How much are they? Cant be much. Pony up ffs, Sean.

Hi Spotless, and all. One thing I do - that eliminates seeing (even in Activity&Topics lists) most of that stuff - is to come in without logging in, or logging out after getting here. That takes care of Off Grid & all PPFs. A quick log in to read private areas, or check for PMs, Notifications, etc, after reading/browsing does the trick... or rather did - I have both of those turned off. That helps a lot, too. lolol

In the late 80s, there were only proto-daobums. All frequencies at the same time...and you are already holding my hands! Do you really not know this?? I like that we each have our own ways and thanks for the video! Too bad the man chasing her didn't trust enough, lol, but such always seems to be the case when searching for what isn't lost in the first place! Time to go stack wood, winter supply almost in. Yay!

I was there, so maybe you felt the 💖 energy flowing outward through me! I take no credit, not my doing, happens on its own, all the time. Cool stuff (-:
-
Too bad, that. There is some really great stuff on the site. After seeing the 'sharing' on this thread, methinks I'll pass. (-: Have fun!

Jeff, hello! First, kudos to you and the founders and creators of LU for trying to explain, and teach/share, the syncretic ideas around the non-dual half of the whole. Skipping the forum conversations, I read the ideas on the LU website, primarily those at Level 3, and the idea to absorb self within universal is an interesting way to overcome 'either/or' - compared to the unboundaried (and my natural) path of 'Both, same time'. LU's concluding idea does seem to be a step beyond 'only non-dual' however, and that was refreshing. (-: As you may recall, energy work would be extraneous for me - so the merits of such are something on which I'd have no input or opinion; nor do I have any questions. What I like, though, is that you (and CT and others) all seem to have good intentions towards the benefits of others - especially with all of your futile attempts to put into (too many, lol) words that for which words dont work. Thanks again for the link and best of luck on your path. warm regards
-
Thanks, Jeff; now I know what LU stands for! I'll peek around and if any quesions arise I'll ask over there. Cheers!

Hi Fa Xin, thanks for the reply! I have my PMs shut off and totally understand the reasoning to not want to advertise another forum. No biggie whatsoever, was just curious; besides - I dont do Chat (anywhere) so no loss, no harm, no foul. Cheers!
