I guess we'll have to disagree on this. My perspective is that Dao flows in all directions, at the same time, in each moment.... and even flow isn't the right word because there is nothing that is not Dao - for Dao to flow against!! Your examples (water path, true nature) are ways we can make our individual dao (way) easier, indeed. And when breathing is hard, Dao is right there down in the shit with us (ZZ), enabling our next breath in the next moment to be easier, if we choose it. To me, there are no 'laws of Dao'. There are, however, laws (tendancies) of physics, and laws (experiences) of what might be more efficacious in this situation or that, all of which can be observed.... but there is no law of Dao, no fixed path of Dao. WuDao. warm greetings

Ho ho! Forget Daoism; what is it you think is not in line with the Dao? Do you think you have found something that Dao is not a part of?

Thanks, Michael, most appreciated. I read the next few chapters of Lau's - and LiEhr's intent doesn't really come through the word choices, imo; not nearly as much as it does in F/E's and flowing hands' transmission, too. At least Ch1 of Lau's conveys, lol, and the treatment of that one line is what I use to palp the intent of a translation. Thanks again!
  9. Tai Chi is a Bastardization of Daoism

Hi Michael, Whose translation is this? I like its treatment of the second line; one that is usually much different, to attempt to support a different idea altogether. Thanks!
  10. Tai Chi is a Bastardization of Daoism

Oh...I dunno. It got you to show up. Kpop, meet flowing hands.
  11. Tai Chi is a Bastardization of Daoism

Daeluin, hi We have very different perspectives: yours is well intentioned, well spoken & explained, and very complex; mine is a simpler path and as natural as breathing. I wish you the best on yours, always. (-:

Only thing to disconnect from is the idea that a bridge is needed, whether provided by you or an -ism. That laser-focused idea is what perpetuates the idea of separate from dao. In talking to others, do you say 'Im here to help you connect to dao' - or do you say 'You are already connected to dao; maybe I can make your life easier' <<--Do you see the subtle difference? That difference is the fine hair making up the fly trap. Which words ^ do you think would be most effective; manifest the most love?
  13. Tai Chi is a Bastardization of Daoism

Sorry, my post was unclear. You spoke of returning to dao, mine was referring only to dao. Isms (including daoism) keep followers trapped with the idea there is something to find, something to chase, something they are lacking, something they need to do to make things 'better'. Each of those are a topic unto themselves - and if anyone wants to start one that might be fun! I do not disparage others who have found what works for them; what could be wrong with that? Even a canary has the right to prefer his cage. (-: I like that we each have our own nature, perspective and way.
  14. Tai Chi is a Bastardization of Daoism

Cant 'return' to something not possible to be separate from in the first place.
  15. Tai Chi is a Bastardization of Daoism

Stay or go as you wish, heh. Those of us who this comes to naturally are few and far between; most wandered off long ago, a few are still here... watching. Waiting? Not really. What is there to wait for? Flys in their own trap dont interest me; nice to watch one buzz around, though, deftly avoiding the web.
  16. Tai Chi is a Bastardization of Daoism

True, that. And some do. Loving this exchange, btw. Nice to have a little fire breathed into this heavy yin place. Go kpod!
  17. About morons

I bet Lois knows that. Might be records weren't available, or current reporting mechanisms aren't yet in place nationwide.
  18. About morons

The value might be a reminder to us that language differences sometimes do not reflect meaning, intent or heart; and a reminder to Lois that being very clear, using as many words as necessary to convey meaning, is the best course between cultures. Lois, what you are describing is very sad, indeed. Is this a wide-spread practice throughout Germany? In the US, mentally handicapped individuals were sterilized...but that was a long time ago.
  19. A dinner, a heart ache, and wishful thinking.

I think you are doing fine. It's not possible, imo, to know what outcomes our efforts may have. Individually, what flows through us may have limited radius - but as one ripple joins with others, that is where large scale impact might occur. That requires taking care of 'home' first - before spreading too thin globally...decreasing ripple's effectiveness. Sorry that was unclear. Perhaps someone else can explain it better.
  20. A dinner, a heart ache, and wishful thinking.

Here's a rebuttal for that: Lord, save me from those with good intentions who think they know what's better for me than I do. Amen.
  21. Mair 6:6

How does that fit in with your anarchist perspective?
  22. Dao of Culture

Seems you missed that cold's point was a different point, and you have yet to learn who around here has a lot to learn. No need to push your way in, kpodhayski; there is plenty of room for all ideas. (-:
