Hiya Mig Ohhh I'll make a tasty meal for the coyotes, and happy to do so; they're part of the circle up here. It's the "I am" part of me that will vanish; and energy is always collapsing onto itself, reappearing into something else. Or so it all seems to me. (-: warm regards

Yes! ZZ followed a lot of LZ's ideas.

Wow, interesting thread! I like Luke's ideas re fear/satisfaction correlation. For me, when I die, coyotes will feed on my bones and all that I am will vanish and collapse into energy to mingle again and dance among the stars. What is there to fear? Where could Tao send me that would not be okay? (-:

Either, yes...or neither. Most folks find what they seek - and usually it's limited by what they already think. Perpetual imo applied. (-: .

He didn't...and...you missed the point...but that's okay.

Brilliant, Brian. Thank you.

One would think, yep.

Orion, hello Please take gentle care of yourself. ((hugs)) I fully understand the impact this has had on you. My method, at these times, has been to embrace the idea that two seemingly opposites can exist simultaneously: both the universal coldness AND the love we intentionally choose to dwell in. There is so much wrong in the world, and so very much right. We each need to carefully choose what we let in, imo. I choose love. Peace to you, friend, and warmest regards.

My weakness is sometimes I think I know what the hell I'm doing.

To post a pic using the mobile site, rather than switching to full site? I tried to post a pic for Michael, in the Santa thread, but all I could get to post was the url link to it. Thanks!!

Wonderful thread! I think both Aetherous and Dust have the right idea - and that which of the two ways (and the many variations of each) one might choose should depend on the nature of the person! I am not capable of doing repetitive factory work; nor could I dedicate my life to only one focus. Too many interesting things out there! We need both specialists and generalists, yes? Maybe society is best served by each of us doing what fits our own natures, which allows us to be happier, and therefore more contributive, members. To answer your question, Aetherous, my primary thing is self-sufficient living...specifically independence from utility companies for survival. Speaking of which, lol... It's time to head back up, fire up the stove, check on the critters, unload the supplies, and get ready for the coming spring. Heh, maybe my contribution to society is staying out of its way. Warmest regards

Yes, very much so. I applaud your efforts, FlowingHands, and it may be that a few will be able to see what lies beneath your, my, and Laozi's words. But please do not be overly concerned if most do not. Their path is theirs and our path is ours...and I wish you the very best on yours. Warm greetings (-:

Looking forward to reading it. Thanks! (-:

Ohh that's really nice, Cheya, (-: From what book of hers is that? Might try & get it before heading back up tomorrow. Thanks!

Can a verb have a 'Way' ?

To me, Laozi is reflecting the rising and falling, the perpetual nature of all things - and the vastness of the eternal Tao. Of the five renditions offered above, the FengEnglish comes closest, imo; the others have extraneous ideas added in. More words count less; hold fast to the center. (-: . edit typo

Do you agree with his ideas, dawei?

Anyone familiar with a Taiwanese cult called the Dao Cultivators?
rene replied to sillybearhappyhoneyeater's topic in Daoist Discussion
Hi SillyBear, You might check with Derek Lin, at the TeaHouse forum (if it's still around), or the taoism.net website - they are (or were) affiliated with YiGuanDao chapter in southern California. Good luck! -
YES. AND, in your post, substitute "returning" (which implies 'either/or') with "continuing" and you've leaped into the realm of Both. Manifest & mystery. Same time. Unboundaried. Tao in every moment. (-: Well met. . edit typo
-
(-: It also feels like the 'why' in all things, motions, etc.; a reflection of the unboundaried aspect of the eternal moment, i.e., mystery.

10,000 thanks for this, awaken!! Yay!

It's natural to want to help where we can - yet who knows what would be 'better' for someone else? That's the core of it, imo. Pun intended.

His explanation would be interesting, yes! Thanks for that link (-:

Some are born to it. warm regards (-:
