"Li Erh did not give his 'thoughts' any title and his thoughts he wrote numbered far in excess of the 81 that are generally accepted as his work." Where can we find the numerous other 'thoughts' that Li Ehr wrote (whether generlly accepted or not)? Your reference sources, please. Thanks! (-:

truly effortless meditation.....a new way of meditating
rene replied to roger's topic in General Discussion
For me, it would be a short trip. (-: -
Albion, I will not post your email. Use the password that works now for you, even if you believe it wont be enough, if you want to stay & play with the rest of us bums, lol. If you decide otherwise, thanks for all your words & I wish you the best on your path. Warmest regards (-:

Welcome ganjaboy (-: OldWolf is wise; might want to leave enough room for new possibilities! Warm regards

Read this joke tonight, wanted to share... Wanna know the difference between Republicans & Democrats? Trump & Hillary are walking down the street and come up to a homeless person. Trump pulls out his business card, hands it to the guy, tells him to come to his office tomorrow & he'll give him a job; hands the guy $20. They walk on & approach another homeless person. Hillary goes up to him, gives him directions to the welfare office, pulls $20 out of Trump's pocket, keeps $15 for administrative costs, and gives the homeless guy $5. That's the difference.

The first alteration was changing the title from The Laozi to TaoTeChing. I yield to dawei and others to share the reasoning for that, heh.
-
In your example - I might not like the outcome (local mind) but it wouldn't upset me. For me, prefering this over that has little to do with me not being ok with whatever comes, heh. Who am I to know if this or that is a better outcome? (-:

How Do you Change Your Screen Name Here At Dao Bums?
rene replied to Albion's topic in Newcomer Corner
Make the request in the Forum & Tech Support section & dawei will change it when he arrives. -
Stosh, agree - and that's one of the extremes pointed at, imo. .

fyi, guys, the mobile version (for phones) of the TDB site doesn't show Signatures. Stripped down version saves on data.

You are welcome, D.A.D., and I'm glad you got some sleep! My doing so plays into the last line of Ch3, eh? Using Jonesboy's words: If I had done nothing, all is still good (from the larger view) and doing something helped (from the local view). For me, both the local mind and non-local mind are present. What could happen that would not be okay? (-:

Especially if you think it does. . . Edit typo -
To me, Ch3 is a study in extremes. First half extreme yang-ish choices, second half extreme yin-ish choices. Both extremes to be avoided in real life, imo.

Stosh, yes yes yes and yes. Especially this: ..the exact translations are EXPRessly Un important, other than to strike a chord of a particular persons understanding. From a state of non differentiation we progress to a process which does exactly that, differentiate according to imagined merits as they relate to our own perspective. Your words worked just fine. Sometimes it is, as above so below. Heh. Warm regards (-:

Here is (Feng/English) Ch3, for those who are finished with 1 & 2. I enjoy how the first part of the Chapters (so far) present the idea(s) - and the second part shows some applications. (-:. . Edit: typo

sagebrush, hi. As you are deferring to me - I'd like to request that you not wander so far off the topic of the thread, including your recent posts above. Others' posts so far have been either about the possible meanings of the words in the ttc - or about how the words in the Chapters play out in their lives. If you could follow suit, for this thread, it would be most appreciated. (-: I'm glad you figured out how to start your own threads - they have been interesting to read! Warm regards

I agree...as long as we realize that not everyone (me) is familiar with Buddhist terminology and less so the concepts.

To me, this is intended to reinforce the ideas in Ch1, for those who need more - to overcome 'either/or' mindset. ...and this hints at the view. (-:

Warrants repeating. :pokes at MH: Edit to add: Your whole post warrants repeating, dawei. Nice summary.(-:

Part of you is Tao... unless you've found something Tao is not. Maybe Tao is an idea (noun) and a verb. Both. (-:

This is telling us to do the same in normal life, let go, be present and one can see/be the mystery. Yes, agree. Why is it, do you think, that many folks (and traditions) say one needs to turn their back on 'normal life' - rather than realize the mystery within it?
