cat deprived, dogless such mean rules. Oh wait, I know! Where is my pony?
  3. Board Wishlist

good question. brb (-: EDIT: actually, never mind. I signed out, then 'created new account' , but then forgot the PW to my old email to finish validating. Whoever has the broom can go sweep 'laozigirl' outta here. Second Edit: Well, that was special. I saw 'laozigirl' was still here and validating (which she'll never do) but i was able to 'sign in' with her anyway! Couldn't do anything more than a 'guest' could: protected forums unavailable, etc, and no reply capability. So now we know what 'validating' people can/can't do. Seriously though, you can remove laozigirl anytime. Thanks!
  4. Chapter 1, Section 1 Concepts

That's a great question. Marblehead? Anyone? Does ZZ question those things? Some of us aren't familiar with ZZ enough to know things like this and rely on your thoughts about questions asked... Thanks!
  5. thanks, hod, for the links and thoughts... and we're pretty used to sifting through rubbish to get to the core of things (-: and thanks, Wayfarer, for letting us tangent the topic for a brief sec. most appreciated.
  6. ditto that. post links here plz?

  10. greetings! :)

Hi blim, welcome! I saw your post over in the TTC Chapter One thread - and you might find this link helpful for you. I'm putting it here in case you don't go back over there. List of English translations. A few of those authors are members of this forum. Enjoy!
  11. Chapter 1, Section 1 Concepts

Ah jeeze. Now I gotta stick around. (and yes, I will remind you)
  12. Chapter 1, Section 1 Concepts

Oh my - A number of times?? Show me one. Here or PM or email. At your convenience... but within six months. **** edit: I'll hush now about LZ, so to not interrupt the ch 1 discussions.
  13. Chapter 1, Section 1 Concepts

Right. "Don't do this" works better for a lot of peoples' stories. That's my point. You gonna go with 'what works better for my story' in this exploration? That's okay, it's the same thing ZZ did. It's just good to know upfront whats what. (-: Are you done with Ch1 already after just 24hrs since starting? Is this going to be a chapter every two days project? Maybe CD or somebody else would like to say something?
  14. Chapter 1, Section 1 Concepts

    stosh
  15. Chapter 1, Section 1 Concepts

Okay. And, fwiw, The Laozi doesn't say "Don't do that." It says, "If you choose to do this... that will likely happen." It's the downstream -isms that have turned the TTC into a rule book, to support their other rule books. I've no problem with rules (just ask the mods, lol); I do have a dislike for twisted disingenuous interpretations and renditions being passed off as the original concepts. Story-time for kids is good. I like stories. (-: And maybe we'll see what ZZ's stories are really based on. Or not.
  16. Men and Dinosaurs

undoubtedly to use for barter in a couple weeks (-:
  17. Chapter 1, Section 1 Concepts

I'll try, but, okay see this is why ZZ drives me nuts. simple ideas found in the laozi are convoluted and smothered with too many words that only confuse the ideas rather than clarify them. not sure I can sit and watch you guys go sideways (and it's just getting started!) for very long. you didn't even catch that what i posted IS about physical relativity, just like the rest of the chapter. See how much ZZ twirls you around? Others might find this entertaining, like watching congressional debates and speeches, but not sure it's my cup of tea. I'll watch for a while, since you've asked me to, and when a pleasant surprise comes, you'll be the first to know. (-: fair enough?
  18. Chapter 1, Section 1 Concepts

It might also be a nod to Laozi's 'adapt to your surroundings' (ddj8), - the rest of Legge's " 2: The mushroom of the morning: Return to a third meal" seems like it might be anyway. But I dont want to start reading into ZZ something that not might be there - based on a 'feel' of familiarity. I'll need to yield to others as to ZZ's concept intents, and as soon as you all decide on something I might have something Li Erh-ish to say (-:
  19. Chapter 1, Section 1 Concepts

LOL sorry I took so long. Nice to see I'm not the only one.
  20. Chapter 1, Section 1 Concepts

As you do, you might keep this in mind. To which path are you referring?
  21. Chapter 1, Section 1 Concepts

Geezus uroboros, you go faster than CD
  22. Chapter 1, Section 1 Concepts

Actually, "yin" and "yang" appear only once in The Laozi (if memory serves...). What I'm saying is that Li Erh saw the value in both the big and the small, the hard and the soft, the open and the closed. Either text, LZ or ZZ, that is rendered to suggest one is always preferable over the other..misses the point. My read is that, for the most part, the stories in ZZ miss that point. Maybe as we explore the other chapters, Marblehead can show me how this is not the case. (-: Interesting? Pretty boring, imo. I never saw my ego as important enough to try and get rid of it, so I don't keep it inflated by feeding it with all the attention it would receive otherwise...in an attempt to suppress it.
  23. Chapter 1, Section 1 Concepts

My 'ego' isn't something I concern myself with; and I leave others to deal with their own, if they wish. (-:
  24. Chapter 1, Section 1 Concepts

This varies with your earlier post about the quail and peng... the one that compared the q/p story with closed mindedness and open mindedness? The way you expressed it earlier is how it's portrayed in ZZ. These discussions might show this as a running difference between LZ and ZZ. If the bulk of ZZ prefers yin to yang (or yang to yin) then the balance reflected in LZ is lost. Nice to see you've reverted back to more of an LZ idea. OH, btw? I've read all your posts in TTB and you're anything but a newbie. warm regards
