    Bolds mine
  2. Haiku Chain

Actions speak louder. Effort screams no louder than a match on a fire.
  3. Lao-tzu Ch 2: 有 & 無

After over 10 years of interacting on these boards... I doubt there is little we don't know about what each other's tao ideas are. (-:
  4. Lao-tzu Ch 2: 有 & 無

My perspective is that it's not in an unimaginable future; that merging happens in every moment and always has! But it is a "merging" only in a manner of speaking. For me, consciousness-as-first-principle and matter-as-first-principle, were never separate but arose simultaneously and have been unboundaried ever since. It might be the unboundaried aspect is what facilitates the reverting nature of tao.. and the pull everyone feels to 're-concile' what is already 'conciled' in the first place!. (-:
  5. Lao-tzu Ch 2: 有 & 無

Hosh, hi You seem to be using the word "Consciousness" in a manner that those who do not (for whatever reason) use find hard to get past. What you are pointing at is called several things in these discussions, but sans the baggage your word of choice can bring for those who are not used to seeing past words. Once you use "Consciousness-as-First-Principle" , you've undoubtedly lost even more. I know what you are pointing at. I know what Marblehead thinks. You both might be surprised that you are both looking at the same thing, and are in agreement, and that it is just the nomenclatures in conflict. warm regards Edit: On second read of your post, yes, there is a difference. You both hold to the same structure but differ in what the natures of the components of the structure are. If it is a big enough difference to end the discussion, that will be up to the two of you. My guess is probably.
  6. Tao and the Tao Te Ching

In this case, seems so. (-:
  7. Tao and the Tao Te Ching

We? We who? Speak for yourself, kimosabe. Li Ehr had little difficulty talking about Tao and there are a few of us around who seem to stumble along okay as well. It's good you and others have Te to talk about, though. Something for everyone! warm regards
  8. For those who have glimpsed 'no self'

Yon rising Moon that looks for us again-- How oft hereafter will she wax and wane; How oft hereafter rising look for us Through this same Garden--and for one in vain! And when like her, oh, Saki, you shall pass Among the Guests Star-scatter'd on the Grass, And in your joyous errand reach the spot Where I made One--turn down an empty Glass!
  9. For those who have glimpsed 'no self'

Every moment is one of equal creation and destruction; such is the way of Tao.
  10. Haiku Chain

Never me, not me. How could that be diff'rent than Always me, yes me?
  11. Bias against New Age

True that. And somes' side-walls be thinner than others'. (-:
  12. Bias against New Age

Those are the side-walls of your reality. That New Age may or may not concern itself with your ideas means what in terms of their effectiveness for them?
  13. Bias against New Age

That might depend on the belief itself. If it is one that says 'my way is the only/best/true way', then yes.
  14. Bias against New Age

Agree, and would add the haywire intent of marketing. Not only are we taught to observe, but to judge - to find ourselves lacking and therefore needing to buy whatever it is that makes us like others - or to find others lacking and therefore we should join up with the marketers agenda to ridicule/suppress/whatever. Fingers is a big business. Fixed paths are little different than Coca-Cola. A 'hard-to-pin-down-new-age-way' would be a bane to religions, but still a good target for the purveyors of 'spiritual materialism'.
  15. For those who have glimpsed 'no self'

I'm just glad that dude finally learned how to edit a post... somewhere around 16,950 is my guess. (-:
  16. Bias against New Age

Maybe because too worried about fingers, others and our own.
  17. Bias against New Age

To me, everybody has their own ideas about what this same thing we feel actually is - and some people and some traditions think their explanation and practice is the only true and valid manifestation of this... so anything that is different then theirs, is seen as not only wrong, but a risk to their parametered thoughts and so is subject to ridicule. It's like the metaphor of fingers pointing to the moon - we are all pointing at the same moon, yes? Ridiculing others' ways of pointing shows only our own loss of sight of what is central to us all.
  18. Failed Attempt

bump bump bump bump maybe try the pit after that lots of action down there
  19. Failed Attempt

well... you might consider how quick you had to 'bump' this up, when deciding where to put what. Maybe threads up there; pinned open invitation down here? Are you really going to wait until winter to start this?
  20. Haiku Chain

how good springy feels and summery is the best wintery's cool too.
  21. Vegetarianism and Cultivation

I like what thetaoiseasy said. Maybe better to let your body decide - rather than what your mind thinks it should or shouldn't do based on what you think you understand about this or that. Well, maybe that's not what he said, but that's what I heard him say. LOL warm regards
