  1. An Observation

Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi: "Avoid desire and aversion. Do not engage the mind much in the affairs of the world. As far as possible do not get entangled in the affairs of others. Giving to others is really gving to oneself. If one knows this truth would one ever remain without giving? If ego rises all will rise. If the ego merges all will merge. The more we are humble the better for us" Thank you Bhagavan
  2. still wandering the catacombs

Hi Hundun. here's my take on this forum thing. You never know who might contribute or what you might read. It may or may not be of interest, so i just have a look at whats being discussed. I open the site, have a look - sometimes for a minute, sometimes longer, even sometimes post someting if i feel moved. Other than that, i don't take it too seriously. Any thing that annoys us on this forum, is just reflecting something in ourselves, anything that delights us on this forum is a reflectin of a similar inner delight. Whether you post again, or even read this forum again, i wish you all the best in your sincere efforts to awaken to that state which your soul has always known. Peace brother.
  3. red panax ginseng

not all ginsengs are equal. the term 'red' usually referes to some form of proccessing. this processing results in making the herb more yang. this can cause excessive stimulation of the sympathetic nervous system = increased heartrate, wakefullness etc. it might feel like this is 'giving' you more energy, but it's actually using up energy because it's stimulating the body which can be taxing to the adrenals/kidneys the wild, large ginsengs can be qualitatively different though. my teacher tells me that they are highly sought after, and great care is taken to harvest and clean them. they can actually have a nourishing affect on the body which is the opposite of the cheaper processed varieties.
  4. Three Hearts of Cultivation

Lin, this article is pure gold. There's really nothing i can add , but i felt moved to write something out of respect: "Whether one is of Buddhist or Daoist cultivation, keeping to virtue and moral is first and foremost." Anthything and everything else that may come thereafter in the form of powers and so forth, are just by-products. For whatever of such may arise, who can claim them? Patience, compassion wisdom - inherent in cultivators heart, naturally springing forth The sweet joy within. Radiating among all. All beings together awake. One Mind
  5. Nobody's perfect- NOT!

yeah, if we seek perfection we'll never find it. judgement unwittingly locks us and possibly others into reinforcement of unconciousness, so as Buddha says: from the Anguttura Nikaya: "The results of karma cannot be known by thought, and so should not be speculated about. Thus thinking, one would come to distraction and distress. Therefore Ananda, do not be the judge of people; do not make assumptions about others. A person is destroyed by holding judgements about others"

  8. Spring Forest Qi Kung

I have not had any experience with spring forest qigong, but I bought Master Chunyi Lin's book because I wanted to read his story of growing up during the revolution. From reading his book i respect him very much. His sincerity and genuine heart are obvious. From the book: "True love is absolutely selfless. True love is gentle. It is pure, unconditional, universal love. True love seeks only what is best, making no judgments about what best might be or might not be"

  13. Observations on Kunlun Nei Gung practice

Thanx Max. You had me glued to the screen reading that. Your insights are appreciated. Likewise Freeform, thanx.
  14. lost, confused and frustrated

Hi Thad, it's mainly in the breathing technique which generates N.O. Humming is great, but there's a particular pause that master Feng teaches that seems to be more effective. The practice also uses certain sounds (which are the main focus) They are kind of similar to a mantra, but have a feel all of their own. They are based on ancient feng shui knowledge and correspond to the yearly universal vibration that took place when you were born. (so there's a numer of different sounds, the invividual one being determined by their D.O.B.) So when you recite it, it's like being in the womb of the universe, pretty amazing The beauty is that it can be done walking, sitting, standing laying down. The experiences ive had from it are numerous from various physical sensations, showers of light, bliis states, and deep stillness.
  15. lost, confused and frustrated

hi Kathryn, you've been given heaps of advice already, i know, but next time Master Feng comes to Adelaide, you might want to attend. I've been practicing what he teaches for a bit over a year and it's VERY good, and it keeps geting better. http://www.taidow.com/about-taidow.html he said you can email him for more info if you want. best

  18. Apart at the seams

I love this thread. Hagar and everyone else sharing the experience of rediscovering the experience of unconditioned innocence. Hagar "..........where I cannot trust my intelectual filtering of life anymore" When I saw John De Ruiter in 2001, he said "you used to have the eyes of a litle boy. Let them come back" Those words went deep. My neices and nephews are aged 1, 7, 9 & 10 They havce no idea that, just by being themselves, they are great teachers. Affection, honesty, sincerity, wonder............they express all this and it opens it up in me.
  19. There are many dynamics involved. for me, it's best to keep it open ended. many possibilites are there, but if time limits are set, there is in a sense already a degree of contrivance......... Sometimes, only 2 minutes can be so powerful, that it ends right there.........other times, 2 hours can feel short............... i just like to be fluid with it, be open

  22. the Dragon and Lao Tzu

I've wondered about dragons and exactly who/what hey are ever since being taught some dragon gong forms from a dragon gate lineage master. The dragon forms feel waaaaaayyyyyy different to any other forms, even forms taught by the same master. When he performs them, i can feel the qi comming into me - just from watching him. I'm gonna ask Master Tao this weekend what the dragon is and what it represents - i think it's something like the highest state of virtue and purity, yang energy etc????? In any case, major powers.
  23. Nattokinase

You can massage 'jin hui" - tendon meeting point AKA "yang ling quan" - GB36. It's on the outside of the leg, just under the knee bone. It's for: any tendon stiffness, spreads liver qi, and benefits the joints, among other things. When I began sitting lotus I couldn't do it. But from practicing Daoyin, and doing theis GB36 massage before and after sitting, I'm fine now. You can also sit with you legs straight and flick you big toes against the toe next to it 200 times. This send a twang (like plucking a guitar string) along the tendon lines along the leg and through the knees - This can (from my experience) dissolve calcifications of the tendons and help the qi to flow through the legs. Hope this helps.
  24. More is less

It's only because of ignorance of ones' true nature that powers are sought. Unconditional love surpasses all. In the opening, it can be known.
