I was reading that the rainfall in Houston was in the trillions of gallons, maybe 50 trillion. Fresh clean water. If only we could redirect it. End droughts, water the desert, hydro electricity. Instead it goes down the drain. Such a pity and waste.

Yeah, well as Einstein said- God doesn't roll dice. Course he may play cards and that's 2 of a kind. I don't consider an eclipse to be a disaster, ie its a predictable event that causes no harm. In truth its easy to make up predictions after the fact. There will always be disasters and those trying to figure our why? Some will look to science, ie others will look to Supernatural. The science people will not be frightened by eclipses but will be of hurricanes, flooding and quakes. They'll try to understand the causes and how to prevent damage. The fact that such a huge flood killed so few people is a credit to planning and technology to coordinate rescues and evacuations and lets not forget building codes. There's a small island off of New Guinea. They've had disasters of Earth wind air and fire. But it didn't get publicity so it doesn't count. A big state like California, easily has a dozen elemental disasters a year, depending on how you count. They always have drought, rain, fires and occasional quakes. A country like Russia (China, India) are so big, the odds of them having a bad flood, earthquake, hurricane or tornadoes, even an eclipse in the same year is inevitable. It must happen every few years or so, for the last.. couple of forevers. Thus in my eyes its not the disasters, its the publicity.. the PR that makes for the prophecy.

Unless I've seen such things myself, I file such internet 'proofs' under the Maybe category. If a friend has seen it, upgrade to the Probable file; depending on the friend.

In your opinion, what do the cultures do right? What do they get wrong? As usual what gives the best bang for the buck? What is the recipe? A secret ingredient, or simple clean living? errata What makes a China town so fascinating to me is all the herb shops. Walking past the bins of herbs, common and rare. Within 5 feet, jujubes for $5 a pound, near $800 ginseng, close to sea horses, separated out male and female. Is the east masters of prevention and west obsessed with cutting and pills for extreme conditions?

I went to the seminar years (pre-kunlun wars era) ago. Had a great time, met other bums. Max was fascinating. Tried the system for a bit. I liked its simplicity. Not being very energy sensitive it wasn't for me. Many reported strong phenomena quickly from it. It is a unique kind of spontaneous qi gong system, which I hadn't been exposed to before. While not profound for me, it does release tension on a deep level and opens me up for a deeper quiet meditation afterwards. For better or worse, no freakiness or snakes for me. Sometimes when I wake up late at night, in the washroom, I'll sit, hit the position and let the leg shaking and body swirling happen. Haven't been caught by anyone yet, or maybe I have and they're keeping quiet over daddy's weird nocturnal behavior. That reminds me, I got into a little bit of trouble when I re-posted a side technique from an assistant and Max thought I was writing it myself, plus he considered the instructions flawed. It had long breath holds, reminiscent of 9 bottle breathing. These days I do Wim Hof breathing, I wonder if I could find it and see if it was worthwhile?

Usually when in Mod mode we'll post in blue.

Generally when asked such beings say, 'You ungrateful son of the mud. You know how many times we've bailed out your sorry species due to ecological disaster and even more so for hideous morally bankrupt acts of self destruction? More times then you can count. So get your act together. Grow up and stop asking us to do it for you. Earth is eternal, your species is not.'

I don't think he could make it any clearer, the bhutan, dragons, ecology.. tao bums site. It's all there. We are exposed. The question is- What is the point of this 'experiment'?

Ghost Dog was just on cable, saw for the second time. I liked it. Imo, the scene where he shoots the poachers, was poorly written. In that you'd probably have a nun or Gandhi shoot the poachers too. By being so heavy handed making them cartoon characters the writers lost the chance to present Ghost Dog motives in a grey world. Which was for me, was the point of the movie.

Is there a superior translation of the Tao Te Ching?
thelerner replied to Zephyr's topic in Daodejing
I always go for the Useless translations of the TTC. I find them the most Daoish. The last one I bought said 'It is, What it Is.' That was the whole thing. -

I have sympathies. After he complained that it was impossible to have a Mo Pai discussion here without 'haters', I created one in my PPF, and stated the rules clearly- No insults, no spamming, no discussion of the past, only Mo Pai techniques. Each day ILoveCoffee would spam it with sarcasm. Which I would hide. *Note I don't particularly care about Mo Pai, it was to see if we could have a discussion that was civil (we could), but somehow that was offensive to Ilovecoffee.

Perspective.. I can understanding viewing the world through different perspectives. There is the 'Mystery School' approach which sees purpose and God in every action. It can be helpful and refreshing at times.. certain power and insight from it. Yet, there's a danger there too. Personal danger, ie there are things and people out there that will tear you apart, body, heart and soul. Best to recognize and avoid them. Also seeing things as perfect can keep you from rolling up your sleeves and making it better. Ignoring others hunger and need. add on> Slightly tangential, I'm reminded of the founder of Aikido. In his later years he was asked- What is the relationship between defender and there attacker? He replied it is as parent to child. A relatively loving point of view, still he was a phenomenal master level martial artist and his younger self had explained that his art was 'death'. So.. good to have perspectives and the ability to pull the right one out at the right time.

Fine, then I voted Maybe, because it depends on the maturity of the 10 year old. Don't want them to make the decision based on a hissy fit or who will them more toys. but If they're mature for there age and can make a good argument then I'd highly consider there view point.

I think it says a alot about members that this so very rarely comes up. Mis-quoting or malicious ones will happen, probably best handled by bringing it to the up publicly. Again, integrity is our best defense. In most situations forumwise, our worst fears and problems end up quickly shuffling down the flow of pages, lost and forgotten. As long we don't keep bringing things up repeatedly, our great thoughts and foibles and bitterest arguments, are gone within days. With the smallest amount of patience, we are done with them, unless we keep bringing them up. Short of leaving the forum because it has 'zero integrity', we can stop reading the aggravating threads (excellent), put people on ignore (good) or leave the frickin site for a week or two, knowing it'll be a different when we get back (excellent).

You are quoting someone who believes you are a 'sheep and mental adolescent' because you are not like him, ie an atheist. The guy your quoting comes off as a self aggrandizing egomaniac, nice cape, and undoubtedly a superhero in his own mind. addon> above not really accurate since coffee was quoting someone else's meme, not introducing it himself. To many here, you actively ignore evidence that doesn't fit into your story. You seemingly can't write about your first hand experience, ie anything your practice has given you. I don't think you can be a 'freethinker' if you believe everyone who doesn't agree with you isn't. Its absurd, ie only those who agree with me are freethinkers. That kind of belief feels like the ultimate conformist elitist thinking to me.

There is a need for maturity. PPF's give individuals control of a blog. Integrity means not changing anothers meaning when quoting them (though I'll often shorten it down for readability). Integrity is very important, maybe everything on a forum like ours. Much of whats remembered isn't individual posts, facts, witty arguments etc., instead we're judged on the wholeness of all of our communications. All our posts; that what sets our reputation here. No, single post or rebuttals. How we carry ourselves, how people view our maturity is the single most important thing we have here. Things that are anti- maturity are redundant spamming, not letting things go, insults, getting into constant fights; the same fight over and over. Be mature, move on, share, be polite and respectful. More Pie Guy/Panda/Thunder Gooch had a site, it was filled with dozens of Fuck you's and graphic insults to people here. The point of this forum is to be his opposite.

It's just 14 days but Universal Healing Tao has programs- https://www.universal-tao.com/dark_room/enlightenment.html "Overview of the Dark Room Retreats Using a Partner System the first few days will be used to make up for any sleep deficiency and to relax the body from its daily concerns. Sleeping 12-14 hours a day, will promote healthy amounts of melatonin. We will practice 2 hours of Simple Chi Kung and CNT and Thai massage will be available. Fresh juices and soup will be served for breakfast and an organic meal in the afternoon. All food will be light and easily digestible and all service provided by Tao Garden staff with night vision goggles. We will commence the Kan and Li practices and gradually increase levels of orgasmic and compassionate energy. When you reach a certain point you will begin to hear the cells and DNA making love or coupling. On the 7th, 14th and 21st. evenings, you will be able to leave the Dark Room Retreat through a reflexive tunnel. You will go outside slowly, wearing your own sunglasses. It is important to wear them all of the next day, until you gradually get used to the light again. The Condominium Buildings will be converted into an air conditioned dark room environment with a central meeting and meditation room. All exterior windows & doors will be sealed with sound & light proof paneling. Dark Room Enlightenment Program DAY 1-3 Complete isolation from external light causes the pineal gland to flood the brain with the neurotransmitter melatonin. 3 days of Internal Darkness and Sleep Therapy - During these 3 days one has the chance to catch up on all the lost sleep that has occurred over the last few years. This stage cannot be over emphasized, with regard to its importance in the overall process. Christ spent 3 days in the caves near the Dead Sea, utilizing this metamorphic process, which is conducive to a very gradual death of the ego. DAY 3-5 The pineal gland starts to increase the production of 'pinoline', whereby a greater fluidity of thought and healing of the body starts to occur. This period allows for transition, wherein numerous meditations will be carried out, which will incorporate projection of the energy body and astral travel along with (Iron Shirt) Chi Kung. DAY 6-8 At this stage the pineal gland starts to produce the neurohormone 5-MeO-DMT. This psychoactive tryptamine is highly luminescent; it is also extremely phospherescent due to the amount of phosphene that it transmits onto the visual cortex. The neuro transmitter 'akashon' is normally only active when we are in the womb and in the first months of our lives. It is now reactivated in the darkroom. 5-MeO-DMT switches on 40% more of the cerebral cortex and awakens the nervous system to become aware of itself; 'beingness' results. Hence, the possibility of metaprogramming the nervous system's bio-computer - activating healing and conflict message assortment of the nervous system. 5-MeO-DMT is the empathogenic neurotransmitter that expands the emotional body between 'infinity and zero'. It gives rise to telepathy in the emotional and intuitive bodies. It engages the awakening of the 'Flower Of Life', the spine, which begins to glow in a state of beingness and peace. Many exercises will be practiced during this period; compacting Chi, consciousness and awareness into the nervous system, working with the Silent Self and anchoring the Immortal Body. 5-Meo-DMT discharges the darkness from the darkroom. A bright light will be activated. This Great White Light, the manifestation of the astral body, enables the self to project externally. At this point, some degree on 'N-Methyl-D-Aspartare Inhibition' (NMDA-I) usually occurs. This is a 'soft form' of the slowing of the glutamate input signals into the cells. This makes it easier for the nervous system to cause electrons to stop flowing within the cells, allowing for profound meditative trance states. The 5-MeO-DMT prepares the nervous system, through its empathic state of being and self awareness of the nervous system, for the DMT or dimethyltryptamine production of the pineal gland, in psychoactive milligram dosages. DAY 9-12 There is now enough 'Mono Amine Oxidase Inhibition' triggered by the pinoline, to allow the pineal gland's 'serotonin to melatonin cycle' to be intercepted by adrenaline and ephedrine activity and converted into a 'serotonin DMT pathway'. When DMT levels reach more than 25mg, one's experience can become very visual. DMT is the visual third eye neurotransmitter. It enables the energy body and spirit to journey into hyperspace, beyond third dimensional realms of time and space. It is intensely energizing. At this stage of the Dark Room Retreat, the required amount of sleep tends to diminish dramatically. Although the day may last 24 hours, 3 hours of sleep can seem like 12. During this period we will engage in further practices; psychic games and interactivity, Taoist Dream Yoga (advanced levels) and Imagination Expansion. CONDITIONS Each person will sign a form of consent, whereby they acknowledge responsibility for the 'self', in entering into 7 or 14 days (to be specified in application) of light isolation. They will confirm that they are free from mental illness or any other delicate health condition, that they are over 18 years of age and that they agree to stay for the full duration of the specified period, without interrupting the process for others." I believe they have a few reviews from people who've done it. Somewhat psychedelic as dreams and wakefulness merge and I believe some can't make it through the whole two weeks. I'm sure its pretty intense and hard at times.

imo, Too important a question to answer without lots more details, hopefully with info from all sides. still I have a friend who's parents died when he was young. At 10 or 11 he ended up with an uncle and aunt who were fundamentalist. He was there opposite; bookish, liberal, not religious- it was a very poor fit. At a young age he reached out to another pair of relatives and by himself started legal proceedings to get the switch done, knowing there'd be resistance from the original care givers. He succeeded and his life was much better for it, but he knew where he was jumping into. Versus rolling dice. addon> side note imo biological or adoptive, is secondary to loving and capable.

Quickie ideas, carrying mace. Note experts say buy 2, experiment with one. How it's triggered, it's range and type of spray. Also how to quickly access it. Like the martial arts, a technique not practiced a thousand times and under pressure is worthless. I often carry a cheap tactical pen. Longer, tougher, pointier then a normal one. The tungsten tip breaks glass. Otherwise not a great weapon, but easily pocketed and it writes well especially with the space pen refill I put in. Thus I can defend & write in outer space. In reality, security is an illusion. The list of things that can kill or hurt us is damn near infinite. Yet we live. Our chances of finishing out this week look excellent too. So enjoy it. Beyond simple preparation, worry is a waste of time. I try to be ever vigilant, but never afraid.
