Moderator- Warning To All If you've stated your piece, made your argument known, then walk away. Don't keep picking at the same arguments til they bleed. I ask all sides to stop any pettiness and insults and move on. Find another subject cause this one has been picked over well enough. If participants have nothing positive to say then please take a break from this thread. Put your energy elsewhere, preferable into something positive because there's been enough negativity here.

I agree. The past was cold, for 1,000's of generations people knew how to generate there own heat. This is simply reclaiming a lost ability that was once common.

Whoa, I'm making the exact same post I did 2 months ago. For what its worth, Wim Hof is still offering the free mini-course. Or rather 3 videos of instructions. Might be worthwhile for those interested in finding out about his method. http://explore.wimhofmethod.com/video-miniclass/

How 'intense' is your reverse breath? I was taught a pretty mild version of it, ie just belly goes in a little bit, buttocks clench slightly. No straining. Keep it light. I get the feeling other traditions teach a more vigorous method.

Sometimes adding humor helps when a thread gets too negative or filled with circular arguments. Often though it goes too far, with witticisms going on for a page or more, totally off subject. Knocking out the flow of serious posters. It helps if the OP writer steps in and asks the 'humorists' to please keep the thread ontrack. No guarantee, but that often works. People have even restarted the threads asking for more focus and only serious replies, sometimes in PPD's where they can hide or delete posts that are off subject.

You can find your exact question, how to find JC in quite a few forums over the past 10 years. Answered by many including former students. The answer is always the same. Please don't bother him, he doesn't want to be found. When I started a thread called Serious Mo Pai discussion, telling people it was purely on techniques and staying away from personalities and controversies, the person who spammed it most, with short sarcastic remarks was Ilovecoffee. For some reason, serious discussion on Mo Pai was an anathema to him. (he has filled up 30 pages and 300+ posts with 3, only slightly varying messages) addon> On the subject of finding a teacher. I may sound like movie puppet here, but books and fame don't make a person great. Look local, look at there students; those are, most likely what you'll become. For years, it will be about the fundamentals, quieting the mind, sitting well, honing awareness. Before you want magic, powers or siddhi's learn to sit, learn equanimity. Develop a disciplined practice so that you are worthy of a great teacher.

I wonder if Worrying about what we can't influence is hell?

You can study them, but can we ever really understand them.. ? With concepts like Karma, imo, there's a whole lotta 'I don't knows', especially when applied to specific life happenings.

hmnn, how about 'Not knowing and being okay with that' is bliss-like..

Tapio Raevaara Helsinki Finland (found on an old martial arts website) Happiness is a skill found within. If a person is happy or unhappy just depending on external circumstances, it's like being adrift on the sea. You say you're only able to find temporary happiness in your family, friend and work... Do you think that will change if you manage to improve the status quo? I don't think so. By definition, happiness brought by external circumstances is circumstantial - thus, temporary. You would still be a slave to the circumstances.

For me the most important button on the Dao Bums is [Unread Content] on the top right hand side. After logging in, I'll use to catch up on all new content- threads and posts I haven't seen before. All listed nicely in chronological order.

The aspect that gets my attention here and with Arthur, is the King and the land are connected. As they waiver and sin, so the land suffers. You can have the greatest artifacts, powers and wealth in the world, but 'whom do they serve?' is the most important question. If its for ones own glory, then the land and king stay stagnant. The knight serves the prophets role, to question the king, even to shame him, til he renews his purity and devotion. Perceval fails to fulfill that mission.

Book learning is great, but there a time to put the books down. Philosophy is great, but again, there's a time to drop the rules and lofty thinking and see if you've absorbed enough so you can live freely, without it's rules and regulations as training wheels. Most of all don't get stuck in mind loops. Ie do a (minor) wrong, ie hurt another life form by accident, be aware of it, and strive to do better next time. But don't dwell on it. As minor get into major then amends should be made. Personally I don't know how (or why) you'd make amends to a bug, but if that's what you code calls for, find a way then move on.

I always thought Glenn Morris called it the 'Secret' Smile because it gave you a large warm smile and made people wonder what the hell you were smiling about. Here's a thread on it. Course there's a good chance there's more then one Secret Smile technique floating around. Doc Morris's is similar to Healing Tao's but instead of being 'organ/spirit' based is more emotional and orbit related. In the past you could find some youtube videos on it.

Doc Morris had his own twist on an old meditation method. He called it 'Dr Death's Humbling Bad-Ass Brain Scrub. Simple but not easy, count your breaths from 1 to 10 then repeat; going back to one if any extraneous thought occurs. And be honest- this is going well.. I'm doing it.. I'm not thinking.. my nose itches.. all send you back to 1.

Speaking of watching things. Just saw Spiderman Homecoming. Very good. I liked Wonderwoman better, both great summer time flicks. Both presented a more humanistic side in the superhero genre. Ie thoughtful, non-macho side of heroics. Kinda sad they need a woman and a teenager to bring that out. In a different vein, Baby Driver, was surprisingly sophisticated and well plotted for an action/driving thriller.

I'd recommend stopping with the high philosophical approach for a while and finding some long hard work. We get so far into our heads that we cause ourselves a boatload of problems. Sometimes we gotta exhaust the body to calm the mind and regain equanimity. I don't know about your life, but if you find a way to work hard and long, I bet questions like.. what happened to that bug that was on a berry I ate will naturally be put into the category it belongs.. ie trivia. If it's not a job, then find a charity that needs some heavy lifting. Put yourself to better, more productive work then worrying about bugs an berries.

Or perhaps the combination of intense practice and not taking anti-anxiety meds didn't go together very well. Bad combination, person with little experience doing an intensive. Plus anyone doing an intensive when they're not in a state of equanimity. I looked on her Facebook page and an article or two on her. She seemed like a very nice, sincere, quiet person. My condolences to her friends and family. Like bax44 I hope this doesn't turn into a meditation witch hunt.

Hmnn, they want people to create online video e-learning material for them. I'm a little leery and would call this a definite NO, if this 'job offer' needs you to send them any money before you could begin.
-
Well.. If a pig and frog want to get together, who am I to say no. But in this case the Pig is loud, bossy and has anger issues. Jump away frog or will you will surely croak. Also these big shot millionaires who claim to be for the environment.. once the cameras stop rolling they're off to there McMansions and if you don't believe that then I've got swamp land in Beverly Hills to sell you, and believe you me, once its flattened and dried out, there's green to be made there.

There are literally millions of recipes out there. Many nutritional superstars. Find 4 or 5 dishes, and start experimenting, with what connects to you. Already nice to cook big and eat leftovers for a while. Get into the habit of buying up sauces and spices then they're on sale and one dish can provide different flavor profiles.
