Could any of us build the stuff we see around us right now? The keyboard infront of you passes through at least a dozen owners. From those who mine the ore, create the plastics, the wires, the coatings, the design, the safety checks, the ink on each key. The keyboard you're using is possible has a dozen or two businesses all with employees, managers, owners. The same with the lamp, the bulb, the computer. With every object around you, you're not dealing with one 'owner', you're dealing with dozens. I owned and ran a business that sold used and obsolete corrugated boxes. It was worthwhile and nicely profitable. It probably did much more good then harm in the world.

We've been touching on this in the discussion on 32 signs of Buddha and other discussions slip into it. I see the Mystery School on one end. A materialistic mechanical view on the other. Our personal power and outlook lies within the spectrum. By Mystery School, I'm looking at the strange bedfellows of Fundamental religious and new age beliefs. Where everything is controlled or watched by higher power. Complete control happening, either from God, a universal force or our own godhood. Versus a more modern, nihilistic approach, where there is no controller, watcher or higher force. Only a myriad of influences that we think of as patterns and give names to. Michael

Regarding Kong, empty-force and it's understanding - Nature to it

That's what I heard. Can't see any cable but it seems like its that or Magneto's on the loose and he's angry. -
I've taken this from one of Infolad1's posts. It was in the middle of a longer piece of writing and thought it was important enough to have its own thread. "From Metu Neter Volume1: If we average 1 breath/min. (breathing according to the techniques of meditation, pranayama and kumbhaka), we will make contact with our divine nature. At such a slow rate we would succumb to the grand slumber that Vishnu is said to enjoy in Maha Yoga. At 3 breaths per minute all thought processes stop, and we attain to Satya. That is, the ability to intuit all knowledge. Constant meditation at this pace will heal the body, and prolong life. In addition, we will also activate the Kriya power that will enable us to attain whatever we desire in the world. 4.5 breaths per minute will place us in the Treta Yuga state. Although intuition does not function perfectly at this pace, as thoughts can still intrude, understanding of spiritual truths is very high when we are in waking trance at this rate of breathing. This is the characteristic of the men of the silver age. 6 breaths/min. will place us in the Dwapara yuga stage, which is excellent for learning material facts. 7.5 breaths per minute is the rate for performing japa (protracted repetition of mantras). In this practice a rosary of 108 beads is used to keep track of the count, which is invariably placed at 108, 1080, 10800, etc. This practice is caused by the unfortunate failure to understand the connection of the number 10800 (108, 1080, etc.) with japa. It is the key to the rate of breathing at which japa is effective. Once you are in trance, it matters not if you repeated the mantra once, or 10,000 times. Once trance is achieved, the power of the mantra is awakened. 9 breaths/min. corresponds to the rate at which we must breathe when performing Hatha Yoga asanas. It is excellent for strengthening the body, and correcting certain infirmities. Bala Rama, to which this rate corresponds, is the Hindu Hercules. 18breaths/min. is the rate at which we are very externalized, and fully subject to the domination of thoughts and emotions. It is therefore the number (rate) at which the Beast (animal soul) within us lives, and does its thing. 18 = 666 (6+6+6). To control it, and transcend it, all that we have to do is to deny it of its breath. It is as simple as that. The above harmonics occur once you get to Tai Hsi, known In yoga as kevale khumbaka aka spontaneous breath suspension. This process is what begins the movement of the real Yang Qi We access the deeper, true reality at the theta brainwave state. This is the location of the Bardo, of the Duat of Ancient Egypt, and of the "Heavens", and "Hells" of Buddhism, Taoism, and Judeo-Christianity." me> Is the caveat here is that the breaths are done 24/7? Don't most of us achieve a 3 or 4 breaths a minute cycle naturally during meditation? It took a year or two to get down correctly but in Ki-Aikido we'd practice a one minute breath cycle. It certainly brought deep peace but I wouldn't say an enlightened state. Course we students didn't stay in it very long, 15..30 minutes. Some of the upper level guys would reputedly do 2 or 3 hours a day.

I'm not sure where Infolad1's quote comes from. The stuff I wrote on the bottom is personal commentary from my experience with the Ki Society (Ki-aikido- 13 years). On weekends there'd be a 'Ki' class. It was considered more breathing exercise then meditation but you'd sit seiza and the person heading the class would clap. You'd breath out and slightly bend forward, then they'd clap you'd slowly straighten breathing in. Eventually they'd get to about 50 seconds to a minute breath cycle. <Looking for youtube video, can't find one. It might be too boring to be recorded. I think this was practiced in most Ki-Aikido (Shin Shin Toitsu Ki Aikido) dojo's, least in the old days. William Reed writes about it in some of his books, including 'Ki-A Road anyone Can Walk & Ki A Practical Guide..'. The founder of the style Koichi Tohei was famed for his long breath cycle. Can I do it now? No, I left Aikido a decade ago. The practice still influences my breathing, I naturally end up at about a 30 to 45 second breath cycle after awhile. I used to work with Silent Ground's Deep Breath CD and used apps (Insight Timer is very good) to time breaths consistently. These days I keep it simple and natural. No timing other then what happens naturally. I've always assume most people's breath cycle get much longer as they meditate. Except for the somewhat unusual Wim Hof Method 10 Week course I'm slowly going through now. That has crazy breath patterns and holds. This week requiring singular one minute holds under cold showers, but that is a totally different animal then what the OP is about. While I don't think I'll show you videos of me in the shower, I can do it.

Not that I have much talent for it, but seems to me the main ingredient is strong focused intent (developed over time with practice), everything else is a minor ingredient. oh, I believe alcohol and lucid dreaming don't mix.

Discussing Reincarnation
thelerner replied to noonespecial's topic in Esoteric and Occult Discussion
Good questions above. It'd be interesting to see a comparison of different reincarnation 'systems'. How many include other levels of afterlife in there grand picture? Whether sorting out is done by deity or cosmic weighing scale. -
From http://www.marketwatch.com/story/the-greatest-most-underused-credit-card-perk-2013-11-19?siteid=rss&rss=1 The greatest, most underused credit card perk Published: Nov 10, 2015 10:06 a.m. ET Price matching is not a new credit card perk, but it’s one that consumers often overlook — potentially forgoing hundreds of dollars in holiday savings. Some call it price matching, some call it a price guarantee, but no matter the name, many credit card issuers and network, including Discover, Citi and MasterCard MA, +0.52% , are offering consumers refunds for the difference in price should they buy an item and then find it for a lower price later on. Discover will refund the difference up to $500 if you find your item at a lower price within 90 days of making a Discover card purchase, Citi says it will refund the difference in price up to $300 per item if its price-finding service discovers a lower price within 60 days of the purchase, and MasterCard will refund up to $250 within 60 days or 120 days, depending on which type of MasterCard you use. They say they’re offering this perk because it’s popular with customers. Discover says that their program, which they launched in June 2012, has been “very well received” by cardmembers and a MasterCard spokeswoman says “these benefits test extremely high in our research with consumers.” Citi says it launched a limited version of its price-match program in 2010, and then, due to positive consumer feedback expanded it to cover all of its cards in 2012 and last year it expanded again by increasing both the amount it will reimburse consumers and the number of days with which it will have its price-matching service look for lower prices for consumers. Still, experts say that a lot of consumers have cards that offer this feature and don’t even realize it. Ben Woolsey, president of credit card discussion and review site CreditCardForum.com, estimates that less than 1% of consumers who have the price-match perk know about it. “Cardmembers just aren’t aware of it and rarely if ever make claims.” For the card companies, that makes it a relatively low-risk perk, he says. “They’re hoping this benefit just increases people’s willingness to buy things without worrying about prices being lower in the near future or at another retailer.” (Citi, MasterCard and Discover didn't share numbers with MarketWatch on the percentage of their consumers who used this perk.) me> This is worth remembering during the gift giving season and beyond it.

?? No, just buying from a local store, then showing the credit card company that amazon has it advertised for cheaper and getting the difference from the credit card company. No fraud, just taking advantage of a benefit that usually goes unused. Credit cards can be good tool if used with discipline. Looking at post below.. <sigh>, I don't like to feed the .. never mind 1. Don't flatter yourself. I don't know or think of you enough to like or dislike you. 2. You don't need to copy an entire post. A partial gist is usually fine.

eh, seems more like it'd be useful in a scheme to buy from a full price local retailer and screw the credit card companies.

Wonder if anybody has written A Thanksgiving Carol? I wonder what kind of ghosts would visit Scrooge? A Pilgrim, Squanto and .. an irate historian?

stand aside.. I'll take this one. hmmnn, sounds like an opportunity . After setting up a gambling parlor for onEarth events- sports, politics, love affairs.. I'll have to look into creating stock exchanges; financial, institutional, spiritual and derivatives. Come on.. its eternity, we have to have some fun. Like it or not, Mankind's greatest thrill is anticipation; and that, is the heart of gambling.

Cocaine, a south american plant in Egyptian mummies. (http://www.ancient-origins.net/news-history-archaeology/did-ancient-egyptians-trade-nicotine-and-cocaine-new-world-001025) A little controversial but gaining some momentum I believe. Pointing to, with some pictoral evidence that Egyptians found the South America pretty early on and used it for coke runs. Genetic markers used to be a good way to follow humanities flow from Africa on out. In some places anomalies in tribes point to contacts made long ago.

what is virtue and how do we become virtuous?
thelerner replied to Pelly's topic in Daoist Discussion
SOoo wordy. Moving a stone away from the middle of a path because someone later might stumble against it. That is virtue. How do we become virtuous? Help others when you have the opportunity. -
How about Mopie wrote a dozen or two posts against Lomax and you who have no reason to be against him wrote a somewhat nasty joke so you could be on Mopie's good side? How is that? Because Lomax has a different opinion on yin qi then his, mopey went ballistic for months!, dogging and trolling Lomax. All because of a difference in interpretation. Sad. Very sad. You jumped on Mopie's side to joke at Lomax's expense to brown nose. You don't want to believe it, but this is due to obnoxious behavior, nothing to do with Mo Pai.

You have literally written questions here and that were then immediately copied to More Pie's site, where he answers them with swearing and a temper tantrum. That's happened a couple of times. He seems to have used you several times as a.. sidekick.. stooge?? Brian and I have some strong political differences but I think our feelings on More Pie are similar. I'm sure you'll me more colorful and demonstrative then Brian. Want some examples? Or should we let it rest? addon> for example Brian might criticize More Pie by saying he's a bad role model, then give true but boring examples. I on the other hand am way more colorful. I say things like- He's a couple of nuts short of a squirrel- a cliche non-sequitur with a half twist. Huge difference in style. I

Regarding Kong, empty-force and it's understanding - Nature to it
thelerner replied to 4bsolute's topic in General Discussion
In Ki-Aikido we have touchless throws. On one level its timing and a psychological. There is also the phenomena of people who've worked together for years tend to develop a simpatico, that can cross rooms. There's a link between them that allows one to throw the other from across the room. It looks like bullshit, its not a useful martial arts skill, unless you're attacked by a person you've closely trained with. Its also a somewhat high level skill, there is some energy beyond psychological to it. Here's an example, note I wasn't there for it. My Sensei had a class that had some touchless throws in it. They shared the room with a judo group. A man from that group came over and doubted it'd work. My sensei said lets see. They did the set up, ie man comes forward punches. Boom he's down on the ground and say's 'You hit me' and my sensei says back 'No, you didn't get out of the way.' What happens with that 'style' of touchless throw is you go down to avoid a hand that coming at you circling from above. With people the level of my sensei that hand might as well be a 200# rock. We fall to avoid getting hit. If you ignore the touchless part, some types of no touch throw have the hit built in. Part of that 200# rock phenomena would be explained by my sensei John Eley (I've been out over 15 years) as the 'nothing that is something'. Get the right combination of relaxation and intent, mix in good body movement and there a freaky non-muscular power available. I'm not a fan of Steven Seagal, but I've seen videos of him teaching Aikido and it looks solid, I'd love to take a class with him. In one video he disses the no touch throw, yet later in the video you clearly see his uke (attacker/victim) move and drop at times without contact. Why, cause at times its better to drop then take one more expertly given clothesline. Its a survival mechanism and not a bad one, the ability to hit the floor roll and get up immediately. An Aikidoist should be friends with the floor. -
It gets pretty mythological, especially if you go purely by Plato's writing. Still I'm interested in the search for Atlantis's. Forgotten civilizations with far greater reach and tech then tradition history gives man credit for. I'm not talking star gates, I'm talking trade, maybe across the ocean, writing, advanced farming, primitive machinery. Signs of there existence through both human genetics and plants they left behind.

This adds to the thinking you're MPG's puppet. MPG made dozens of posts insulting Lomax, he was a long term troll here plus childish and nasty on his own site. The kind of bitter person who'd pay money to put up banners that'd belittle others. You're blinded and hypocritical dismissing dozens of insults by a nasty juvenile person. MPG has earned the disgust of not only people here, but real Mo Pai practitioners.
-
Thanks for bringing this up Ken. I've got some thoughts for you. Its like you've never read panda poos website. Have you ever thought of maybe discussing his swearing, his childish insults, his crazy vendettas, his juvenile tirades with him? I expect you haven't. Have you counted how times he uses the word Fuck on his site to describe people here? Do you think it makes him look socially immature? Like he's a few jhanas short of enlightenment? A few balls short of a billiard game? A few nuts short of a squirrel? I, and many people here and I'm sure where ever Mo Pai is mentioned, MPG is an embarrassment. We can only repeat this so much but its not about Mo Pai, we don't really care about it. Its MPG, he's left such a obnoxious mark that he brings a bad name to his art.
