Sure you guys aren't missing half the equation? Its often missed and people are usually sorry because of it. hint: revolution is the first half. the easy glorious half too.
-
and this: Guess keeping a show on TV wasn't easy enough for a caveman.
-
I agree with this. Someone mentioned the Egyptian Spring, prices for bread/wheat had skyrocketed there before the revolution took place. After the 2010 drought, severe belt tightening and hunger had a chance to percolate. Ideas pop up and spread quickly, but there's so many of them, it becomes close to what Andy Warhol said, 'They each have there 15 minutes of fame.' Then they're bought out and diluted by fractional groups. I don't look for any 'Revolution' to save anyone. What might is Integration. Good ideas, starting block by block, neighborhood by neighborhood that spread larger. A green revolution with less preaching and more growing, sharing and partying.

Not getting to much action here so I'm expanding the scope to include 30 Day Yin Yan Self Improvement Promise. 30 Day Yin Yan Self Improvement Promise: You make a 30 day commitment to subtract a habit and start a habit to fill the void left by the subtraction. The habit should be a specific easily measured thing. Example: I will not eat blank (wheat/sugar/fries) and I will have a blank each day (juice/salad/green smoothie/sasquatch) (subtraction). Here's mine- I will not watch TV in November. Instead when I feel the urge I will- meditate/exercise/walk. This shouldn't be too hard. Good to start out easy. Next month diet. No vegetable starches, potatoes, corn. Positive Have a green or colorful low sugar smoothie every day. Third month maybe something harder no baked grain ie grain/cake. Positive eat good salad and soup each day. The idea is to grow- gain some discipline and develop the 'will power' muscle. The hope is this becomes a consistent practice. Subtracting something bad, gaining something healthful. Yin/Yan, bringing life into a better balance.

Very Cool. Good solution, keep watching. <iframe src="http://embed.ted.com/talks/allan_savory_how_to_green_the_world_s_deserts_and_reverse_climate_change.html" width="640" height="360" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" webkitAllowFullScreen mozallowfullscreen allowFullScreen></iframe> sample: When I came to the United States, I got a shock, to find national parks like this one desertifying as badly as anything in Africa. And there'd been no livestock on this land for over 70 years. And I found that American scientists had no explanation for this except that it is arid and natural. So I then began looking at all the research plots I could over the whole of the Western United States where cattle had been removed to prove that it would stop desertification, but I found the opposite, as we see on this research station, where this grassland that was green in 1961, by 2002 had changed to that situation. And the authors of the position paper on climate change from which I obtained these pictures attribute this change to "unknown processes.".. .. Let's look at some results. This is land close to land that we manage in Zimbabwe. It has just come through four months of very good rains it got that year, and it's going into the long dry season. But as you can see, all of that rain, almost of all it, has evaporated from the soil surface. Their river is dry despite the rain just having ended, and we have 150,000 people on almost permanent food aid. Now let's go to our land nearby on the same day, with the same rainfall, and look at that. Our river is flowing and healthy and clean. It's fine. The production of grass, shrubs, trees, wildlife, everything is now more productive, and we have virtually no fear of dry years. And we did that by increasing the cattle and goats 400 percent, planning the grazing to mimic nature and integrate them with all the elephants, buffalo, giraffe and other animals that we have. But before we began, our land looked like that. This site was bare and eroding for over 30 years regardless of what rain we got. Okay? Watch the marked tree and see the change as we use livestock to mimic nature. This was another site where it had been bare and eroding, and at the base of the marked small tree, we had lost over 30 centimeters of soil. Okay? And again, watch the change just using livestock to mimic nature. And there are fallen trees in there now, because the better land is now attracting elephants, etc. This land in Mexico was in terrible condition, and I've had to mark the hill because the change is so profound.

My thanks to all the new admins. & & you're all biased idiots who are against everything right and out to destroy freedom and the integrity of this site.. Thought I'd give you some practice dealing with inevitable future comments.

Money is a tool- a powerful one; double edged too. With knowledge and discipline it can be a great one, providing greater opportunities, freedom and security. I once wrote: Ode to money; the lubricant of barter, the measuring stick of perceived value. We create it, name it & play with it. A useful idea, worthy servant and poor master. It Is because we think it Is. And if you don't, I have a nice P.O Box in Brooklyn for you to send it to. Even Einstein had problems with money. In 1904 working as a patent clerk he met my great great uncle, Manny the accountant who explained it to him. Using language Einstein would understand Manny wrote this: M = E C^2. Which translates into Money equals Energy times Consumption Now and Future. You see how energy is at the heart of money? And what is energy? The potential for work. In humans terms Energy makes our lives better and more enjoyable. Flip the equation and we see E= M/C^2. Present and future consumption divides our M and cuts our Energy. Equations must be balanced and choices made. Still one can break out of the zero sum game through leverage. Creativity, creating new resources or combining old ones in new ways allow more work done with the same effort. This is how the wise tap the source of money.

In the past I've like Celestial Seasoning's Zinger teas, particularly Lemon Zinger, its herbals based on Hibiscus flower. They're good, I especially like to mix them with plain tea bags to make iced teas. Lately I'm going for herbals that are thick with dried fruit like potpourri. Adagio Tea store by me has a couple of flavors. Right now I'm using there Blood Orange. Teavana sells similar teas, but much more expensively. Since its sold by weight, these potpourri style teas cost much more per cup then the usual sinesis. They work nicely in combination with them.

Seems he wasn't able to teach them or his wives the 'secret' to extraordinary longevity. Does that mean he didn't love them, was okay with there premature death? Or that its not a trick or method that can be passed along like a diet or practice. Imo if the record is correct he was a genetic outlier, helped by the usuals- good diet, exercise, regular meditation, fresh air. He's mentioned in one of Daniel Reids book, which goes on to mention a disciple he had who lived a long healthy tao inspired life, and died at 99 years old. I think a long healthy life is one of the 'fruits' of the taoist tree, but reading about contemporary, non mythical practitioners and they're not exactly showing signs of immortality.

I still say Aikido. See: http://aikidoforbeginners.blogspot.com/2010/02/star-wars-george-lucas-aikido-ki-and.html Excerpt: ...When researching the Force, Lucas talked to several Aikido masters because he was very interested in the concept of the mystical Ki. I'm not sure about the extent to which aikido and Ki influenced him when creating the Force (as Life Force can be found in far too many cultures) but aikido and Ki had to have a definite impact on the birth of the Force... ..What about the Jedi? The name itself comes from the Japanese words "Jidai Geki" which translate as "period adventure drama." Maybe it's my limited knowledge of the English language but, for a while, I didn't know what a period drama was. Then I learned that it was a drama set in a certain age or era, and Jidai Geki is actually a kind of TV soap opera that is set in the samurai days. So Jidai geki basically means samurai films, and to interpret the "period" part of the phrase, here's an example: "Meiji jidai" means "Meiji period". Lucas had been in Japan before creating the first Star Wars movie and he simply liked the words and the name of the Jedi order was born..." Ofcourse he probably pulled it from a few sources. It is in many ways a wild west story set up as space opera with a little mysticism thrown in. The article mentions an old black and white Japanese film as a big influence 'The Hidden Fortress' which itself drew from old Westerns. Good flick. As I recall it was written on the fly with actors not knowing from day to day which way it would end.

Speaking of Live Bums. I couldn't find the Google Member map thread that had pins on a world wide map of tb'ers (who'd given there location). If anyone can find the the thread, why don't they bump it.

So you are saying if there's, 10 hours of 'night time' ie between sunset and sunrise, then 'Mid'night is 5 hours after sunset. Just divide 'nighttime' in half, and the middle is Midnight in TCM? Makes sense to me.

I haven't had much kombucha. Being fermented its probably a great source of probiotics, but I doubt it has Kefir's nutritional profile. I.e. the unsweetened is high protein, low carb, hi calcium, high vitamin D etc., A meal in itself.

(Dhamma Puzzle) How can you make this paper clean?
thelerner replied to PimonratC's topic in General Discussion
that's what i get too. 2> Boy: Do not try and clean the paper. That's impossible. Instead only try to realize the truth. Neo: What truth? Boy: There is no paper. Neo: There is no paper? Boy: Then you'll see that it is not the paper that's dirty, it is only yourself. -
I heard it was Aikido.

I don't know if this was the case here, but there was a similar story where 'all' the boy did was make a gun with his finger and was suspended, BUT it wasn't a case of zero tolerance, the kid had priors; bad behavior, I forget the exact details but they showed a kid with problems. There are rags on the left and right that salivate when they can show extreme behavior, whether its there or not. I think many stories in American Spectator typify this. Not exactly wrong, just biased to the hilt, and spinning stories to fit there tune.

Georgia shows off skull thought to rewrite human evolution
thelerner replied to xor's topic in The Rabbit Hole
I'll meet you half way and use the word human - ish. hmnn, looks like they had some old coffee beans found near them, maybe they should be called human - ista (or homo coffean) meaning java drinking humanoids. Which in turn spurred ever larger brains in the search for better grounds and brewing techniques. -

thelerner replied to xor's topic in The Rabbit Hole
human-oid. It shows a brain not much bigger then an ape, according to the article. Homo, but not homo sapien. -
Nah, that just makes a person nice, maybe self aware too. Intelligence is pretty multifaceted.

Vitali: What kind of preparation is needed to get the most out of a retreat like that? For example what should be practiced, what level of expertise needed? Thanks

Which Elements/Phases does each Vices/Negative Emotion Correlate to?
thelerner replied to Horus's topic in General Discussion
Reminds me of the Franz Bardon system where you make up 2 soul mirrors. One with positive traits, the other negative, then you divide traits according to a pertinent element. such as: AIR (hot-moist) - agile, playful, amiable, analytical thinking, careless, distraught, cavalierly, opportunistic, generous, affable, manipulable, euphoric, tolerant, cooperative, bright, eclectic, (...) FIRE (hot-dry) - ferocious, flaring-up, quick tempered, courageous, impulsive, spontaneous, lively imagination, bigotry, hectic, self-confident, aggressive, passionately, nimble, hysterical, hormic (...) WATER (cold-moist) - empathetic, idle, sensitive, daydreaming, fearful, careful, gentle, unhurried, peaceful, moderate, indecisive, sluggish, procrastinating, apathetic, submissive, (...) EARTH (cold-dry) - concentrated, persevering, demure, pedantic, pessimistic, factual, reserved, realistic, dogmatic, formal, laborious, blinkered, reflective, fixated, critical, closed, prejudiced, frugal, (...)- 22 replies
