How do you get to the truth? I guess it starts with self knowledge. Knowing what your bias's, prejudices, preconditioning, filters are and taking care to balance them out. Before the facts, finding good sources; on both sides, as well as dispassionate non-sided. Digging deep, giving more credence to experts not mouth pieces, books not pop articles. Even when something seems slam bang, one sided, you need to know the other side, if no other reason then to be able to communicate with them. I find humans to be more rationalizing then rational, so you beyond facts you need to know and respect the emotional entanglements. Way too often people play the game of comparing our best against their worst. It's something to be avoided. We need to talk to the other side, get opinions face to face, preferable without confrontation. When people open up, you learn, when people shout, you don't. Is coming at things totally fresh, like an alien the best way to the truth? Each term, explained and quantified logically. That helps but like Spocks problem on Star Trek, the most logical answer is not always the best one. Because humans aren't logical. We need a blend, a compromise to find the truths we can live with. What do you think? Can you handle the Truth? Does it even begin w/ a capital T?

Everyone talks about weather but no one does anything about it. So they say. But weather impacts our lives, our mood.. our food..everything. In the short run this La Nina might have more affect on our lives then the coming election that is over shadowing it. The World Meteorological Org (WMO) predicts a moderate to strong La Nina event coming from the Pacific Ocean. On its way and set to last through the first quarter of 2021, likely bringing a mixed bag to the worlds weather. While generally a cooling phenomena, it will.. In their place, colder waters from deep in the ocean come up to the surface. This event leads to significant weather changes in different parts of the world. If a really strong La Niña event were to occur, research suggests that the UK and Northern Europe might experience a very wet winter. Normally La Niña means countries like Indonesia and Australia can get much more rain than usual, and a more active monsoon occurs in southeast Asia. There are likely to be more storms in Canada and the northern US, often leading to snowy conditions. Southern US states can be hit by drought at the same time. The last time that a strong event developed was in 2010-2011. The WMO says there is a now around a 90% chance of tropical Pacific sea temperatures remaining at La Niña levels for the rest of this year. There is a 55% chance of the conditions persisting through the first quarter of next year. While a La Niña event normally exerts a cooling influence on the world, this is unlikely to make too much of a difference to 2020. "La Niña typically has a cooling effect on global temperatures, but this is more than offset by the heat trapped in our atmosphere by greenhouse gases," said Prof Petteri Taalas, from the WMO. "Therefore, 2020 remains on track to be one of the warmest years on record and 2016-2020 is expected to be the warmest five-year period on record," he said "La Niña years now are warmer even than years with strong El Niño events of the past."

Hello Dachungzi, It does seem the open heart gets crushed. Maybe the way to protect it is to pull in your circle. Love, respect and take care of yourself. If you can do that, open your heart to family, friends.. neighbors. Ignore the news, don't worry so much about people outside your circle. Practice a metta meditation and/or let them know you're there to help, that you care, that you'll share a cup of coffee and find out how they're doing. Nobody can give you peace. You get it from dropping the rage. That's particularly hard these days. I'd recommend stop reading the news; its a concentration of all thats wrong in the world. The worst rage and anger is the impotent kind, all the things you can't do anything about. So quiet your mind, stay away from your triggers and find things, even small things that you can do something about. Work on the inner circles cause we can't do much for ones further out. We help the world by improving ourselves and helping our families and neighbors. In truth that's enough, but if you want more, pick a cause, any cause and work on it, not lip service, but real work. Slow and steady. Don't bother with other evils, find a cause and do some good. I give out flocks of chickens (through Heifer.org), 1 or 2 flocks a month theoretically to families around the world in need. It's not much but its nutritious eggs, occasional chicken soup, a few less bugs and some manure for growing stuff. Imperfect, but something. If you don't want namby pamby qigong, then I'd point you towards The Wim Hof method. In his latest program, beyond the difficult breathwork and cold showers, he has you sticking your hands in ice water. At first for a minute then longer. Pure torture. He says at some point there's a release and the hands warms, that never happened to me but there was an important lesson in observing my reaction to pain and staying with it. The lesson is repeated during the cold showers and long breath holds. Staying with pain, without anger.. letting it settle. When I think of martial art dance I think of Capoeira. Martial arts might be hidden in a few other indigenous dance forms, not that its hidden in Capoeira. In Aikido we'd have 2 person katas, called Taigi's, unarmed and w/ weapons that got pretty dancelike.

Great deal, I'd read the first one years ago and been enchanted with its remarkable archetypal world. Great plot, good artwork and unpredictable. A story 100's pages long, that you have to read and re-read to get all the subtleties. On the professional front, I'm reading Snap Judgement, a good book on behavioral finance. When to follow your gut, when to ignore it. Balancing a contrarian viewpoint with historical optimism. On the spiritual front I'm listening to The Happiness of Pursuit. A book on modern quests. People caught up in a difficult, long term, challenges. Many involve travel, walking across continents, sailing the seas.. others are completing 4 years of the MIT online computer science program in 1 year. What it takes mentally, physically, financially to start and finish an epic quest.

I'm doing Dan John's Easy Strength program. His warm up is goblet squats, that can be done with kettlebells or a dumbbell. The point is use the weight to squat low. You keep your stance wide and sink beneath your knees. Once there squirm a little, stretch out the muscles. Push out your knees a little with your elbows. Then I go up and and into a press, lifting the KB over my head. Not unlike the Charles Atlas figure in the OP. The weight helps me get lower though. -

@Luxin I like your writing, but The moderators have gotten reports saying you're over posting in the Esoteric section. Your posts are fine, but when you make so many new topics, old topics get pushed down, off page and ignored. Conversation suffers. The section becomes 'spammy' as one voice crowds out conversations. Please make fewer new threads in this area. Better yet, consider allowing us to make you a PPD, Personal Discussion area, which acts as your own blog here, keeping your thoughts and conversations in one easy to find place.
