  1. Minor silly request

    T U powers that be .
  2. Be in the World but not of it. Play the game but realize its a game. Our thoughts and beliefs don't create the world; they interpret it, creating filters and blind spots.
  3. Yet for life itself, living life, finding adventure, you have to let go. Try new things, literally get lost and let the universe show you what it will. Yin stuff. Maybe you need both. Discipline, learning and practice to go deep and learn mastery, but also surrender, dance and freedom to gain true artistry. Yin/Yang Complete Human being.
  4. Immortality Serum

Au contraire the maturity level of this forum isn't as high as might be supposed. The odds of someone looking like someone in the past. Exactly 100%. Particularly if you play the circle the bullet game. That's where you shoot a barn from 50 yards away, then draw 3 rings around the bullet hole. You then honestly tell people you shot that target from 50 yards. Thats whats going on here. You're taking from a pool of thousands of famous people, then compare them to 10'000's of old sometimes murky black and white photos and videos. Its impossible not to get hits. I supposed you'd have to say George Bush is an immortal and try to find old photos of him, but then friends/teachers/relatives would say they knew him as a kid and have photos etc., as turtle shell wisely pointed out. I'd also add under the video's logic, isn't the Illuminati also going to come at us with vampires. Some friendly day glow ones as well as darker? There's actually more vampire stuff lately then zombies and if everything happens because the Illuminati are in charge then its time to start stocking up on garlic. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar and monster theme is just a monster theme. <Though I suppose a cigar could be used to light a zombie on fire. And an Illuminatti friend I have says vampires don't like the smoke from rolled Cubans.>
  5. Saving the World & Solar Energy

I wish this thread were renamed 'Ideas for saving the World (& Solar Energy) In any case I just saw this video. More of a Saving Ourselves kinda thing. shorter one:
  6. Needle through Brick Documentary

Great video for dispelling the Western mythos of master in mountain clouds. And a great documentary.
  7. Digestion problem

shots in the dark here. But I'd look into probiotics and if milk tolerant, kefir style yogurt. In gut issues sometimes things kill the good bacteria and you need to reestablish a good balance. Maybe a bit more fiber would help too. something to try. But if you're feeling bad and weak, a doctor sooner rather then later makes sense.
  8. More Pie Guy's Tips On Saving Money

Back to OP- Saving money. Small change adds up, thrown into a bowl at the end of a day, it can be substantial in a few months. In the same way getting a credit card that pays you back 2%, adds up substantially. Especially those dividend cards that have special 5% categories. If you have and use credit cards, I highly recommend switching to ones that pay you back. Those pennies add up surprisingly fast. One caveat, if you usually owe a balance then an especially low rate card might trump a dividend one. This site: http://www.mymoneyblog.com/ has good credit card information. Matter of fact the owner plays the card game and makes a few hundred a year off credit cards. Note, I do not, it can be an expensive 'free lunch' if not played with care. He also has some savvy money tips.
  9. Gospel of Thomas

Very Gnostic. Its a shame that such teachings were side lined so early in Christianities formation. Not wiped out, but it wasn't main stream either. From Wikipedia: "The Gospel According to Thomas, commonly shortened to the Gospel of Thomas, is a well preserved early Christian, non-canonical sayings-gospel which many scholars believe provides insight into the Oral gospel traditions. It was discovered near Nag Hammadi, Egypt, in December 1945, in one of a group of books known as the Nag Hammadi library. The Gospel of Thomas was found among a collection of fifty-two writings that included, in addition to an excerpt from Plato's Republic, gospels claiming to have been written by Jesus' disciple Philip. Scholars have speculated that the works were buried in response to a letter from Bishop Athanasius who for the first time declared a strict canon of Christian scripture.[1]
  10. I get Sounds True's weekly email. They had some interesting podcasts for download. "The Path of Dream Yoga" by Tami Simon, a free 65 minute discussion. And one from Ken Wilber about "Proof of God" which only 15 minutes. If you think they may be your cup of tea- http://www.soundstrue.com/weeklywisdom/?agmepisode=8373&wwepisode=8379&pepisode=8357&ppepisode=1777&utm_source=soundstrue&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=weeklywisdom-130920&_bta_tid=3.RM0.AmdITA.A0nS.JspH..ctYU.b..s.V-k.a.Ujz2mA.Ujz2mA.Oz4cDQ&_bta_c=8zen86jlkpo2wuute1c71zjt92puf Actually I haven't listened to either all the way yet. They had a good interview with Margot Anand that I thought was very good. I have one of her old books. She's a Tantrist who stopped teaching and practicing for 7 years, then has come back to the field fresh.
  11. Deep Anger

While its usually bad to act while angry. Sometimes it helps to do something, like hard exercise. Sometimes that'll burn off some anxiety, quiet mental noise and drain the adrenaline.
  12. Deep Anger

I find it releases anger when I extend a certain finger Many good posts here. We've all faced times of great anger. Like anything else, it arises, it'll fade. Quicker if you don't feed it. Like any pain, sometimes all you can do is ride it out knowing this to shall pass.
  13. Q's...ONLY Teachers may Answer.

this is a little trollish. You can read the OP which states: <teacher=teaching students > 1 year I'll remind you there are hundreds of threads you are free to answer. You can even start your own. This one I'd prefer to concentrate on teachers answers. If thats a problem for you or you have questions about why, then PM me. Please don't hijack this thread, start a new one instead. Thanks.
  14. Deep dive - help a newbie start practicing

You've got your books, a course of study. Too much is too confusing. If you only had one book, 'Pathnotes..' you'd have far more certainty. Just the secret smile and Dr. Deaths Mindscrub (ie counting to 10) is enough for months. Get good at those and you've got a strong foundation. Glenn was also into shaking and highly recommended yoga's sun salutation. Practice is a marathon, not a sprint. Practice a core group steadily. If you must, flirt with other things, but keep the core going.
  15. Q's...ONLY Teachers may Answer.

Teachers. Winter is a coming. Any particular practices to prepare for it? What about external stuff, such as Elixirs and herbals?
  16. Deep Anger

Are the complex childhood issues still in the past. Do the issues recur these days or is there influence more mental and emotional? What I'm getting at if its an abusive parent, are they still actively in your life, controlling? Or is the problem memories and patterns that were instilled? I suppose if the problem is actively in your life you need to develop strategies- boundaries and teflon hide. If memories of a shitty past, you need to let them go. You'll find no solution sorting through cards of past. Toss the deck and move forward. Let it go, start training your mind not to go there. Move on. my 1 1/2 bits
  17. Meditation Class Dilemma

Depends who you meditate with. There are times you can ride the groups energy, particularly when there's someone higher level there. It can kind of lift you a little higher.
  18. Help please, rescue moon lady.

"Heavenly Empress Wangmu rewarded him with a vial of elixir that would make a person immortal and allow life in the Heavens. Hou Yi’s wife, Chang E, was known for her beauty and kind heart. Out of his deep love for her, Hou Yi gave the elixir to Chang E for safe-keeping until they could share it when he returned from hunting. An evil man, Peng Meng, spied this through the window. Three days later, when Hou Yi left to hunt, Peng broke in with sword in hand, planning to force Chang E into giving him the elixir. Chang E quickly put the vial to her mouth and swallowed all its contents. As soon as she had swallowed the elixir, she floated off the ground. She dashed out of the window and flew toward the moon. When Hou Yi returned home that night, he learned from the maidservants what had happened. Tearfully, he looked up into the night sky and called out the name of his beloved wife. At that moment, the moon became especially clear and bright. Hou Yi saw a shadow of his wife who was looking down at him, also in grief. Hou Yi set up an altar with incense in the garden. On the altar, he put the sweet cakes and fresh fruits that Chang E enjoyed most. Then, he held a memorial ceremony for his wife in the moon. It was the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar year. The news that Chang E had turned into a celestial being and was living in the moon spread fast. Many people arranged altars with incense in the moonlight and prayed for the kind-hearted Chang E, the Moon Lady, to look after them." Hou Yi was desolate, mourning his beloved wife he ate little and hunted no more. The sun in revenge for its 9 brothers took special pleasure in burning him during the day. The weather was cool and soothing during the festival of the 9th moon of the lunar year. Prayers and obeisance were spoken and colorful sweets were left at the ancient well in the middle of the village where seeing the reflected moon was believed to offer great fortune for the coming month. Neighbors came to the desolate hunter's house bringing cakes and singing songs to lure him out. But the house remained dark and he would not come. Twenty eight days later came the festival of the harvest moon. Clouds covered the heavenly body's ascent and the celebration was subdued. More calls and pleas were sent to Hou Yi's dark house but none came out. No reflection shone in the old well. The celebration which in olden times lasted through morning waned early. By midnight the last villager left, backing into there house, eyes up looking for the moon. The door to Chang E's house opened. What came out would be recognized as Hou Yi. It was a pale shadow of the man; old, pale and dessicated dressed in dull sack clothe. The figured moved slowly to the village well. At the well's edge it arm moved the colorful moon cakes away to make room for a seat. Sitting he bent forward and looked into the depth. He stared until his braced arm trembled, then his whole body and there was the imminent danger of falling in. Still he looked. His reward at first was slight. A dim diffused light and that gave him strength. It grew brighter into the full moon; then sweeter into the face of his beloved. As the vision grew closer he felt it must be a dream, had he fallen in and this was death. The face below spoke "I robbed you of immortality. I am so sorry my husband" He spoke gently back, "My mourning is not for immortality. It was for the loss of you". "Kiss me my husband, there may still be a few drops of elixir on my lips". There lips touched. He felt his old strength return and the sack cloth he wore became longer, fine and colorful. The sleeves expanded to take on the colors of cakes perched upon the village well. And he rose. Since then on certain nights when the conditions are right you can see Hou Yi's arms like a rainbow, held around the moon. And Chang E allows herself to be diminished a little each day, until she appears like a bow, in honor of her husband. A bow pointing at the sun as an eternal warning, never to hurt her husband or humanity again.
  19. Cool story. Can you talk a little more about using the technique? Focus points and flow directions, kind of stuff.
  20. Jim McMillan has passed away

Does anyone have any stories they'd like to share about Jim? How he helped them, stories from everyday life.
  21. Siddhis in Taoism

Just the first 2 days. Before I hit return I looked at my list, then crossed out the word practice. So I realize many things are indeed wordless. MPG, I don't think its 99.9999% percent disinformation. Though the top people, in terms of the highest practitioners, you're probably right. But I don't need to study with a 'super saiyan' or living saint. In truth, somewhere between 49 and 51% of all people are 'higher' then me, in terms of spiritual practice. And I can learn from then. From fuzzy New agers to strict Zendo types. Though I tend to watch my wallet with it comes to claimants and disregard the most fabulous unless backed up by someone I respect. And that been good. I think I've met people who are 'Siddhi level'( a very slippery term). There's about 9 people on this thread, and I think one of them is very advanced. Hmmn, by the odds of this thread the chance of encountering a really high level person is 11% !
  22. Siddhis in Taoism

Perhaps, but to practice, heal, teach, carry on traditions.. then words become necessary.
  23. The Boy With Divine Powers

I don't like when people turn spirituality into spectacle. It tends to destroy it. I'd rather he be respected and left alone. And thats exactly what seems to have happened in some later stories; problems with people and the spectacle.
  24. maybe. Yet the stuff has roots, grows, has moisture and oils. You can learn to focus on it, there are hair breathing practices out there. .. antenna's are just pieces of metal.
