Hi @Damla, I get the feeling you may not be used to forum etiquette or at least the way we do it on the Dao Bums. Generally posting multiple posts in a row can be considered 'spammy'. Especially when not on the topic. It gets worse when people not on topic, create conflict in a thread about personal matters. You've been here less then a week and doing that quite a bit, thus the initial warning and 1 week suspension. You seem to be a creative loving person who'd make a good member but please- less multi run-on posts and try to keep on subject. Otherwise we're one forum amongst 10,000s and you might find a better fit elsewhere. (This isn't up for argument) The Mods

Mars is incredible these nights. Jupiter's also very bright w/ fainter Saturn following it. I encourage to download apps like StarWalk and Skyview (free) on there smartphones. These apps allow you to scan the night skies, show you where the planets are, the constellations and individual stars. StarWalk even shows you satellites and ISS.

For me its not my lower end, but my eyes (and nose) tear sometimes tear, when I meditate. I'll end the session with a wet shirt. Probably not the same phenomena but I expect mine has to do with the deep relaxation response.

hmnn, maybe if someone asks about getting to the truth, we should ask- Truth about what? Often the wisest listen closely enough to find the question, behind the question. Not what the persons asks, but what they are really looking for.

Now feels like the time to start one's winter elixir. Something to boost vitality for the winter. Anyone got any favorite formulas? Lately I've been taking Rural Apothecary tincture with Reishi, Astralagus, Fo-ti, Schizandra, Goji berry, and Maca. Does it do me good? Don't know. They have a tincture of Pine Pollen where I do feel a difference, ie quite yang.

When its not upper class its called prostitution. Its pretty wide spread, particularly in poorer areas. So much so, I wonder if the solution is legalization and/or zones? Where sex workers aren't abused by pimps or arrested by cops in an endless cycle. Have rights, responsibilities and keep there pay? The alternative seems to be what we have now. In parts of Nevada (& other countries) where brothels are legal is there more or less of a problem? I don't know.

hard one. Here's my take. There is wisdom in knowing the limits of your power. Being a sincere Daoist does not confer super powers. Sometimes the best you can do is, be an example, live simply according to the way. I'm also reminded of the 70's Kung Fu TV episode, that had this as the theme. An ex-monk cursed the Shaolin order for its lack of compassion and involvement, yet was always returning to it, wounded. Surviving but having led people to there deaths. The master gives a speech to Kwai Chaing about why they have this position. I forget what it is and can't find it on the net. But the example is, the angry exmonk keeps getting people killed needleesly. If more acted like the monks, living with kindness, thrift and simply the problem would be solved. <ie there activism, there statement, is their lives and their community. Example is their most powerful statement> As an American, upper middle class, I face this quandary. I'm no paragon, saint or rebel. I have a list charities and give regularly. Hope in some way I leave the world a little better for being here, though that might be a coin flip.

Old thread that never took off. Is karma( or cause and effect ) the ultimate teacher / punisher ? bump. I'd say yes, but its by no means the only teacher. Or the only force out there. Nor do I think it's intelligent, or necessarily fitting into our concept of human justice.

@LittleForest I'm not really chakra oriented, but Buddhism has a type of meditation called Metta, for opening the heart. I'm a fan of Ajahn Brahms, he has a guided version of the meditation- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Jb72-QgXOc Similarly I dig Barry Long approach to the heart, he was an inspiration and teacher to Eckhardt Tolle, here's his guided meditation that deals with the heart- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iB_S4jLJ3KI Course doing good deeds, kindness ie karma yoga is good for the heart. The 2nd part of the meditation I do, where you feel the heart then take it down to the lower dantien, then back to the heart, gave me a better feeling for the heart, ie not as a point but a bigger diffused emotional area. Perhaps not following the chakra map, but there are many maps and ways.

I'm too much the dabbler in my 30+ years of practice. Rather look into a couple systems now, marry one, be committed, go deep. Maybe flirt a little bit later on with something else. Also, if your energy sensitive, its doubly important to have an experienced teacher you can question, cause we're all different.

Wonder if the answer lies in finding a system instead of a technique. ie something where you begin at the beginning. Look at a few practices. I'm sure a few people here can suggest some for you to check out. FWIW I've found a good systems ends most practices whether sitting or moving with a focus on the lower dan tien. That keeps energy/pressure away from the head, at least at the end.

TDBs' Cultural Context and Founding Principles ver.2020-Jul-16 The purpose of this document is to concisely state the most fundamental framework principles that give TDBs it's distinctive shape. This is not "all the rules, permutations, etc", just the steel beams. TDBs exists in the general field of "The Search for Truth". The Usual organized formats (schools) for The Search tend to have: 1. focus exclusively within a school 2. hierachical learning structure, hierachical ability to speak TheDàoBums' founding principles form a deliberate cultural counter-point: 1. run independently of any school, which allows a more eclectic atmosphere 2. conversational learning, egalitarian ability for members to speak TDBs' social format is "cafeteria", not "classroom". It's part of TDBs' premise that, broadly in culture, these two formats are necessary, distinct yet complementary. TheDàoBums has a strong egalitarian ethic in that it's whole purpose is to provide a civil very open context for member conversations. However, its governance structure is mostly top down; it's not a democracy. - admins - own / run the board - moderators - enforce rules - members - converse TDBs' Conversational Context: 1. At TDBs member participation in conversation is non-hierarchical. Meaning, members have equal ability to talk regardless of level of knowledge, achievement, or status / credentials of any kind. TDBs has an underlying ethic of valuing the communication of each person. 2. TDBs most basic rules about conversation are around civility. While TDBs provides room for, encourages, lively, often vigorous and sometimes rough and tumble, debate ... that is balanced by protecting decency and sensitivity towards each other in such a variety of instances that no set of specific rules could ever adequately cover. A moderator's basic role is to moderate members' incivility toward each other in conversation. Members support this process by 'reporting' offending posts A fictional example of how 1&2 shake out: If there's a TDBs debate about music between Mozart vs a beginning piano player, and it becomes heated enough that reports are generated for moderator consideration then, still, "level of knowledge, achievement, or status" are not basis for moderation. Civility is, applied equally to each member. It's up to each member, not moderators, to sort out the truth (and other questions of quality) for themselves in conversation. Moderators just keep the conversation civil within reasonable limits. For issues of staff bias, members can contact the current admin. The staff (admins, moderators) also deserve and have protection against incivility and against abuse of staff resources. Staff protection is enforced at the discretion of the admin, lead moderator/s, and by consensus of the moderation team.
