This way other members can receive value from your perspective and you can gain clarity by reasoning out why you initially felt compelled to verbally put down someone else for being different. No one, including the originating poster, gains anything from statements like "So and so is a complete moron", etc. If you have an opinion and you believe it's relevant to a topic at hand, post it as constructively as possible so we can learn from you, debate with you, ignore you, whatever. It's part of TDBs' premise that, broadly in culture, these two formats are necessary, distinct yet complementary. TheDà oBums has a strong egalitarian ethic in that it's whole purpose is to provide a civil very open context for member conversations. However, its governance structure is mostly top down; it's not a democracy. - admins - own / run the board - moderators - enforce rules - members - converse TDBs' Conversational Context: 1. At TDBs member participation in conversation is non-hierarchical. Meaning, members have equal ability to talk regardless of level of knowledge, achievement, or status / credentials of any kind. TDBs has an underlying ethic of valuing the communication of each person. 2. TDBs most basic rules about conversation are around civility. While TDBs provides room for, encourages, lively, often vigorous and sometimes rough and tumble, debate ... that is balanced by protecting decency and sensitivity towards each other in such a variety of instances that no set of specific rules could ever adequately cover. A moderator's basic role is to moderate members' incivility toward each other in conversation. Members support this process by 'reporting' offending posts A fictional example of how 1&2 shake out: If there's a TDBs debate about music between Mozart vs a beginning piano player, and it becomes heated enough that reports are generated for moderator consideration then, still, "level of knowledge, achievement, or status" are not basis for moderation. Civility is, applied equally to each member. It's up to each member, not moderators, to sort out the truth (and other questions of quality) for themselves in conversation. Moderators just keep the conversation civil within reasonable limits. For issues of staff bias, members can contact the current admin. The staff (admins, moderators) also deserve and have protection against incivility and against abuse of staff resources. Staff protection is enforced at the discretion of the admin, lead moderator/s, and by consensus of the moderation team. Everyone Settle Down, stop with all personal assaults and accusations. The bigger picture, when someone has problems and asks for advice on a public forum like this one, they will get it. Some good- and there were some very good advice and resources mentioned early on, by people with experience. You'll also get all kinds of advice, good, bad and dangerous. If you think someone's advice is dangerous, no problem calling it out, but do it without trolling or getting personal. With esoteric problems it can be very hard to say what will work and it is best to go with a professional. Though with problems like kundalini, just who is professional is usually in dispute. the mods -

Releasing 750 Million Genetically Modified Mosquitos (solutions inspired by Jurassic Park) from the folks at Cracked (https://www.cracked.com/article_28497_5-crazypants-scientific-discoveries-happening-right-now.html) ..Since forever, mankind has tried to find a way to get rid of mosquitos, the biggest genocidal bloodsuckers since ... whichever politician gets me the fewest death threats. But you know who's even better at wiping out populations? Mosquitos. So under the maxim "if you can't kill 'em, breed 'em" biotech corporations have been creating clouds of genetically modified male mosquitoes. These sexy cyborgs are then sent out to seduce the bloodsucking female mosquitos and infect them with a kind of DNA-modding STD. After mating with these freaks of nature, females can only give birth to more male dummies, eventually depleting the female population and leading to the sausage fest of extinction events. That's exactly why Florida is intent on super-sizing its mosquito population. Local officials have approved the release of three-quarters of a billion modified mosquitoes into the Florida Keys by 2021, one of the largest government-sponsored suicide sex cults ever. Many environmentalists do however oppose the plan, claiming that to sextinguish so many mosquitoes is sure to lead to a disastrous "Jurassic Park experiment," this despite the project having been approved by the EPA and with the scientific community still unsure of the long term benefits. I can't imagine any angle (good, bad, ugly, very ugly) on Mo Pai that hasn't been repeated dozens of times in the long run-on threads here. Especially the modern ones that run for dozens of pages. That being said, the oldest ones, with MJJ and Tongsokong are worthwhile because they seemed to have first hand knowledge, as does Kosta in his interview.

Greetings ChicagoMike, I'm another Chicago Michael. Sadly, Mo Pai discussions here tend to devolve. Your introduction had me going through old Mo Pai discussions from 2009, with MJJ and Tongkosong, who had experience with mainland Mo Pai and John Chang. Unfortunately you'll find mostly long circular discussions here, with a few good points scattered amongst the ruins. Because its a 'closed art' who's higher ups forbid teaching to Westerners it remains controversial. On the net you can find various people studying from the few books available on it. That reminds me, I was making bone broths last winter. I tried one for 'Infinite' chicken bone broth where you kept a couple of stripped chicken carcasses in the slow cooker and added water as needed, keeping it always on 24/7. That one didn't work out well for me but when you find an interesting recipe, try it. I expect that recipe was well known to most of our ancestors though, countless generations were one pot, one fire. No waste, organs, bones, everything was precious. One of my favorite books 'Natural Born Heroes' talks about how Corfu resistance fighters in WWII were able to cover long distances on minimal calories. Herbs, scrounged small greens, often baked into pie, the predecessor of our spinach pies, yet much more nutrient dense.

Nope <there is wisdom in checking w/ an expert>. I'm 55 years old. I've read books, used to chat w/ herbalists. Certainly no expert, but able to do research. <ie common mistakes are 'more is better' and 'more yang the better'. I'm pretty sure my normal diet is way more dangerous then taking a tincture of Pine Pollen or the Reishi formula. As I'm writing this, my son came in with a mini Oreo Dairy Queen blizzard, I've taken 3 spoonfuls. It's sugar, dairy.. chemicals.. I believe it's worse then a dropperful of most herbs but I really enjoyed those 3 creamy spoonfuls. I recommend doing research but not being scared of herbs. I worked next to the Chinatown in Chicago, walked and talked to herbalists for years. Other cultures use herbs, regular and exotic commonly. In Taoist culture and most traditional ones, taking a winter tonic is normal <particularly for the elderly>. Its something that has escaped modern US culture, imo, to our detriment. I've found Pine Pollen is best cycled. It's affect on me sexually stimulating, not roid inducing (long bouts of celibacy make me more anger prone). I'm not taking it these day but its got a time and place in my book. Nice to have some onhand. Reishi is a good adaptogen. Taking a half spoonful is probably very healthy. Course so's the avocado I ate earlier. Humble mushrooms have some unique protective properties. None of this stuff is magic, but diet can help or hurt. Be supportive and protective. Its too bad its not more mainstream. silent thunders advice below is excellent. Vit D is generally good and these days might stop the deadly cytocline storm if one catches covid19. Garlic, great, if your system can handle it. Bone broth.. is perfect for winter. Your body tastes it and recognizes.. this is what I need.

This idea popped into my head. Instead of an open discussion, make a topic for people to ask a question and have one of our onboard teachers answer, if they choose. I agree, 'How they're doing in life', to me, isn't about money or financial success, rather, do they have there act together? Inner peace, equanimity as well as having built a good life around them.

I suspect you're not gonna have much luck looking for interdimensional enlightened masters on the internet. imo, The best one can hope for is teachers with decades of experience who are far more advanced then you are. Follow there training, over years or decades and that's how you progress. Looking for only the ultimate to teach you is more likely to get one involved with con men. At least until one has a few decades under their belt. In martial arts and/or cultivation arts, look to a teachers advanced students, they are what you're mostly to become. Not the teacher/master, they have unique..karma.. but the students, how they sit, the depth of their practice and how they're doing in life.

In my early years of doing the MCO, I realized more of a 'sensation' mantra then building the actual MCO. ie feeling a sensation of the movement without the actual powerful flow. <stating that as an example of not having the MCO going> I got a better taste of it working with Spotless advice, spending more time breathing into centers. -

It is totally fine to vocally disagree with a person's opinion, technique, politics, approach, lifestyle choice, etc. But no insulting (or links to attacks) of individuals, nationalities, genders, political preferences, lifestyle choices, etc. While this may sound restrictive and categorically un-Taoist, I believe it is a useful guideline to help us stop for a moment and think about how to present our perspectives intelligently without just flinging unproductive rudeness at each other. This way other members can receive value from your perspective and you can gain clarity by reasoning out why you initially felt compelled to verbally put down someone else for being different. No one, including the originating poster, gains anything from statements like "So and so is a complete moron", etc. If you have an opinion and you believe it's relevant to a topic at hand, post it as constructively as possible so we can learn from you, debate with you, ignore you, whatever. If you can't abide by this simple constructive guideline, either create your post in a PPD or expect it can be moved. TDBs' Cultural Context and Founding Principles ver.2020-Jul-16 The purpose of this document is to concisely state the most fundamental framework principles that give TDBs it's distinctive shape. This is not "all the rules, permutations, etc", just the steel beams. TDBs exists in the general field of "The Search for Truth". The Usual organized formats (schools) for The Search tend to have: 1. focus exclusively within a school 2. hierachical learning structure, hierachical ability to speak TheDà oBums' founding principles form a deliberate cultural counter-point: 1. run independently of any school, which allows a more eclectic atmosphere 2. conversational learning, egalitarian ability for members to speak TDBs' social format is "cafeteria", not "classroom". It's part of TDBs' premise that, broadly in culture, these two formats are necessary, distinct yet complementary. TheDà oBums has a strong egalitarian ethic in that it's whole purpose is to provide a civil very open context for member conversations. However, its governance structure is mostly top down; it's not a democracy. - admins - own / run the board - moderators - enforce rules - members - converse TDBs' Conversational Context: 1. At TDBs member participation in conversation is non-hierarchical. Meaning, members have equal ability to talk regardless of level of knowledge, achievement, or status / credentials of any kind. TDBs has an underlying ethic of valuing the communication of each person. 2. TDBs most basic rules about conversation are around civility. While TDBs provides room for, encourages, lively, often vigorous and sometimes rough and tumble, debate ... that is balanced by protecting decency and sensitivity towards each other in such a variety of instances that no set of specific rules could ever adequately cover. A moderator's basic role is to moderate members' incivility toward each other in conversation. Members support this process by 'reporting' offending posts A fictional example of how 1&2 shake out: If there's a TDBs debate about music between Mozart vs a beginning piano player, and it becomes heated enough that reports are generated for moderator consideration then, still, "level of knowledge, achievement, or status" are not basis for moderation. Civility is, applied equally to each member. It's up to each member, not moderators, to sort out the truth (and other questions of quality) for themselves in conversation. Moderators just keep the conversation civil within reasonable limits. For issues of staff bias, members can contact the current admin. The staff (admins, moderators) also deserve and have protection against incivility and against abuse of staff resources. Staff protection is enforced at the discretion of the admin, lead moderator/s, and by consensus of the moderation team.
