  1. Avatar (the movie)

I liked the movie, solid story, fantastic 3d, the world itself was a fantastic character. Perhaps I was stuck in an overly analytic mindset watching it because I also felt it was predictable, preachy and the human characters lacked the depth of the background world. Strangely it didn't go over well with my 12 year old son or his friends. That might limit its mythos power unlike the Star Wars saga which connected to all ages. Michael
  2. Serious question

Personally this kind of question is too philosophically abstract for me. But I recently downloaded and have been listening to an Eckhardt Tolle broadcast redone w/ biaural beats that talk about accessing real time. Its a good talk which hits on many of his themes. It includes a theme on how to access real time. Worth the listen - http://diydharma.org/radiokosmos1-eckhart-...l-beats-obinine Michael P.S. If real time was so great they'd never have invented Tivo.
  3. The Tao Bums Daily Meditation Challenge

I like the idea. You make a pledge in writing (I like keeping my pledges short term ie 3 weeks) then continually link to the same post and edit it w/ each day you've completed. Another suggestion is setting the name Meditation Challenge in the Personal section and using that in a similar manner. I like Santi's Kap. Shaktimama reminded me of the simple technique of doing 2 x 20 minutes a day of secret smile followed by microcosmic orbit, probably some body warm up in the beginning and a few minutes at the close, so we're talking 2 x 30 minutes in the morning and afternoon. That seems doable. That will be my pledge 2 x 30 for 3 weeks, then reevaluate. I'll see if I can work in some standing meditation to Rawns Archaeous during the day. Michael
  4. Has Anyone Faced Their Demons?

Franz Bardon's method outlined in the Initiation Into Hermetics has a magic mirror exercise as one of its preliminary steps. You spend a few days writing down all your good qualities. Then a few days writing down completely all your bad qualities. These lists become 'mirrors' that you look into, quantify and divide elementally and meditate on. Its a valuable exercise. Rawn Clark and William (its late I forget the last name Mistelle?? something like that) have notes on it if you don't have the book handy. Michael
  5. I was just reading some old posts. Green and Blue dudes, their illuminati control of history. Outlandish stuff, nonsensical. But.. believed by many hereish. Certainly writer David Ick has made a living off of them. Stuart Wilde who I have some respect for is a believer in there 'dark' ways. Far out Ninja Grandmaster Glenn Morris believes and writes how to sucker punch them w/ strong emotions. Many people I have less respect for are believers. I tend to think they are our generations secular materializations. You get what you look for. Past generations believe in god and got angels, we moderns believe in science and get ET's, saucers, Reds, Greens and M & M's. Is just believing enough to make them so? It certainly does for those to whom 'it' happens to. Lets take the view of 'Alien Illuminati', they Control and have controlled us. So are they good or bad? Is there control better or worse then what we would have created ourselves? Raise up Egyptians, destroy them, raise up Greece and Rome, bring on dark ages lots of drama there certainly. There's exciting decades, even centuries, but we've been around 100,000 years plus. I suspect we've been boring for 99.9% of it. Small, isolated, indigenous tribes give us interesting microcosms into human psyche. Do the Aliens really influence a Mogabi tribe of 900 in south west Africa? Or on Beltan Island? I think these microcosms of humanity go either way, Good and bad, Kindly and Frightening - from our point of view. I'd love to read up on comparative statistics on how many are 'goodish', how many 'evilish'. I wonder how you'd draw the line? Love of fellow tribesmen, feeling for all of humanity. Maybe something as simple as are people, humanity, basically good or evil. Would evilish say evil? Goodish say Good? I don't know. I do know I should try to get to sleep. Adieu Michael
  6. Meditating In The Snow

Jumping from hot to cold is an age old custom in Russia and many Northern parts. An old fashioned resort spa I've been to has a very hot tub and frosty cold pool beside it. Its very invigorating. Still decades ago a neighbor had a heart attack reputedly from such a dip so caveat emptor. Michael
  7. Seeking advice....

Like the others I'm not an expert, but I don't think the physical arm is that important. There are times I do a chi gung routines without physical movement, just using 'phantom' limbs. There are times it feels stronger and more flowing then when I use my body. Sincere practice and a good teacher are more important. Michael P.S I mostly do stuff from Michael Winns video's Fundamentals and Pan Gu.
  8. Looking for a free Binaural Beat file

Thanks Bee nice resource, got some nice Eckhart Tolle reading w/ biaural beats and Michael McAllistair on spiritual maps. 15 pages of guided meditations.

  11. Best Nei Kung/meditation session yet

Congratulations Your Nei Kung is different because you're a new man. Your potential multiplied by 2 Michael
  12. KAP

Wait a moment, Why do you want the link to Steve website removed?? Are you afraid rude people will send insulting posts there about you and your teacher there? What could they say?? That its phoney, that You are angry and unbalanced?? Why would people do that?? To warn people of your nefarious plots?? The only reason I can think of is this. They have a little bit of You in them. You pick up garbage, throw it around and when it starts coming your way (as in people finding out your old name) you cry foul. I don't think Santi and Kap are above criticism, but it should be respectful and not personal. There are inherent limitations and problems with teaching esoteric meditation through the web and no system is right for everyone. But you write like its a personal vendetta and move from criticism to nastiness way too quickly. Its always so friggin ridiculous when when these discussion degenerate. I know that you and Santi are practitioners way above my skill. Your path is traditional, his esoteric. You both come from martial backgrounds and probably share much common ground. my 3 cents Michael
  13. KAP

New Dawn, as long as your trolling, tell us what you offer. This board has been filled with interesting characters. One was Mak Ti Shin who was a Taoist Celestial Master who teaches up in Canada and is very very traditional, ie setting up alters, purifications, Fu's, venerations to the Taoist pantheon.. but also daily working on the basics. Not a path for most people, but to me it smacked of authentic old time Taoist religion, hard sell both here and in many ways also in China. I'm getting off the point..What do you teach and how? I'm not looking for anything right now, nor am I looking for 'ammo' against you, but I'm interested in what traditions you teach and what you consider the proper setting to be. Thanks Michael
  14. KAP

To me, Kap is a finger, it can point the way, but It can't take you there. That's the nature of of an online 45 minute weekly course. You can learn about a technique, get some feedback, but its not a live course where you see the myriad of details and deeper relationship of live teaching. The once a week format won't hold your hand and drag you anywhere. That said Santiago (& I've heard TaoS) is a very good teacher whose caring is obvious and he does provide additional audio and visual materials. Forty five minutes once a week for two months isn't going to get you to Kundalini, its not that simple, and I don't think that's what kap promises. Long (years) dedicated(daily) sincere practice will get you..if not there, then closer..better, stronger, peacier then you were before. I enjoyed Kap1 and learned a lot from it. It deepened many of the practices I'd started w/ Glenn Morris original book. I only wish it were a live one year class meeting 2 or 3 times a week (nearby me). Where we could spend weeks working on each concept. There are 5 or 6 major concepts taught, nail any one of them and you've been handed a wonderful gift. Michael
  15. KAP

I don't know about doing it ALL the time, but I do it (well a shortened version) when I'm in the washroom. I get some privacy and it reminds me to practice at regular intervals during the day. Before I start I'll bounce a little bit, to loosen up (similar to Kap1 Earth). I also add some hand motions. Particularly for the Circulating Love part I'll hold my hands as if hugging someone, and imagine hugging a loved one. Emotions flow from memories. I use specific memories for each part. Find the perfect memory and the emotion will come. Remember the details or make them up as you go along, don't be afraid to use hand gestures. There's even a technique where you describe the details out loud, with depth and emotion, reliving the event as you go. The greater the details the more you fall into the event. Michael
  16. I don't know how well it goes with the Buddhist motif, but the song 'Love is in the Air' is upbeat and memorable. Michael
  17. I learned the Pangu from a Michael Winn video. Its a nice short form, easy and energizing (his version anyway). It be interesting to compare it to other versions. Michael
  18. 3rd Eye full moon force

Thanks for creating this post. I've been wondering why its so hard to get to sleep lately and why I've been getting up in the middle of the night. You have reminded me to go with the flow, take advantage of the yin energy and hit the position and meditate. Michael
  19. I bet Marblehead is right. Translations go all over the place. One person writes a 'unique' spin on a line of DDC and others attribute it to Laozi. We can't even agree on how to spell his name in english!! Michael
  20. Great reporting on the Summit. I look forward to reading more. When I was reading your second article(the censored one) it struck me that the offending notion was on Laozi not being real. Haven't some sects already named him an immortal or god? We always tread on dangerous ground when we say out loud 'Your belief is superstition'. Michael
  21. Pandit Tree, I don't know about your Taoism or Tai Chi skills, but you come off as a very angry guy, hungry to insult and create as much bad feeling as you can. Is this what you offered at the Summit and the only thing you have to offer here? Michael
  22. My New Book: Scribbled Voices by Leon Basin

    I liked it Michael
  23. Chi in Nature / Mak Tin Si

and I thought his Jedi tricks only worked on the weak minded Actually you won't find a nicer more honest guy then Yoda. He likes and follows MTS's brand of Taoism, ofcourse he'll give a good review. MTS is not for everyone, his system is unusual; it may well be closest we'll get to hard core, old time, authentic Religious Taoism albeit Guruish and strangely commercial (or not ) Michael
  24. Why do masters keep secrets?

My Sensei used to say 'The things I'm teaching you now, are lies. But necessary ones.' Its like the real truths/secrets are either too simplistic, ridiculous or abstract - you only get to understand them in circuitous manner w/ a little taste here and little there. Michael
