Interesting video, emanemsadventure youtubes are fun, love there sense of adventure. Fascinating to hear from the director of the old JC videos. We have a lengthy interview with Kostas on this site. Here and in other writings I don't recall him saying he stopped practicing because of sickness. I don't think one can necessarily blame Mo Pai for Jim McMillans death either. All in all the interview with Lawrence is very positive about John Chang authenticity. Beyond any particular art, energy healing has its own set of potential problems.

for me, its usually people asking too many questions. I'm usually ok with my anger as long as I don't overly react to it linger in or feed it, too long.

Strangely, I have a watch that does that. My Momento Mori watch from The Camden Watch co. https://www.camdenwatchcompany.com/collections/memento-mori/products/no-253-memento-mori-black '..Our Memento Mori (translated as 'Remember you must die') special edition is based on a Victorian tradition and designed as a reminder that death is inevitable. Contrary to the morose name, it serves as an inspiration to live each day as it comes and not get caught up in the stress of daily life. Because to remember you must die is to remember you must live..'

I like the idea, if they do it straight, the only danger I can see is if its a possible con, whereby they tell people how great they are and.. well here-

Very cool. Life at its best is about setting up goals and tests. Double checking our ingrained ideas of reality. -
no, been meaning to ask my sister to see hers. my birthday is coming up though, might be a kick to get one if its on sale.

Apparently its DNA day(?)- https://www.cnn.com/2019/04/19/cnn-underscored/best-dna-day-sales/index.html?iid=underscoredbouncexad and the major analysis kits are on sale. I might get one. Be cool to find out if I'm part Neanderthals on my dads side, or Denisovian on my moms. Maybe 23AndMe? I like the healing sounds, but I wonder if such energy arts are the right tool for the problem. There's a mental yoga technique or is it NLP- where you imagine the trigger, then imagine your usual reaction, back to trigger and imagine reacting cooly, or with good humor, then repeat many times. Do it in the morning, at night. Its pretty quick. Give yourself mental high fives when you catch yourself reacting properly.

I like the colorfulness, fellowship, eccentricity and ethos of Burning Man. I like extremes, going to a place like the Trump tower where they serve $1024 cocktails (I get a $9 beer) and scrounging at cheap dive bars) A Libra, I like to find balance, and equally to be knocked off kilter every now and then.

Hmnn, what kind of air guitar? I'm a life long insomniac. I go for years accepting it, trying to make peace with it, then work on it with the usually common sense advice and whatever new fangled ideas have popped up. Right now I'm wearing the Oura Ring, a smart ring that measures sleep. It tracks heart rate, body tem and movement gives readouts on Deep Sleep, light sleep, Rem sleep, time awake as well as when you feel asleep and wake up. You can also track caffeine, late meals, TV watching and try to make connections between variables and your sleep patterns. In my Biohacking thread I talk about new strange stuff I'm trying. It skips around but this thread has info on stuff- Taomeow and I both read this article and it helped- ttps://www.artofmanliness.com/articles/fall-asleep-fast/ but for me, so far, nothing works long term. But the answer is out there. I obsess a little, then go back acceptance (which helps) then switch back. Like most insomniacs, I probably get more sleep then I realize. Lately I've discovered by ring and wife that there are times I think I'm up, when I'm actually sleeping. Ie I'm in light sleep or REM and don't realize it. Worrying about lack of sleep is bad. From my Group Self Hypnosis thread- Yoga has had a practice for relaxing the body deeply for years. Yoga Nidra, a cheap easy practice on deep relaxation. Here's info- Some of the best guided meditations are from the Indian tradition called Yoga Nidra. There are dozens if not hundreds of them available and they are wonderful for putting you into a deep state of openness and relaxation. They tend to be less visual then most western scripts, so work well with people who don't visualize as well. Here is a link to a short simple 16 minute one- http://www.yoganidranetwork.org/mp3/bridget-reader-yn-1 Here's a nice one for sleep- http://www.yoganidranetwork.org/mp3/yoga-nidra-good-night-sleep Here's a long one with nice tibetan bells http://www.yoganidranetwork.org/mp3/colour-ling-mann I encourage people to go to http://www.yoganidranetwork.org and try out a few, find one they like, download it and work with it. Often there are bits we miss the first few listenings that have experiential teachings. **note the yoganidranetwork.org constantly cycles to new ones, knocking out old, so look around. For those with Amazon Alexa units, you can Open up the skill Yoga Nidra, then anytime you want to hear a nice one you simply say Play Yoga Nidra and it plays. Here's a good Sleep hypnosis audio called Sleeping Pill. Good because its more training then to get you to fall asleep- " Was having trouble falling asleep for a couple nights. The usual insomnia I get every now and then when I can't fall asleep til 4 am. For the last 2 days I've been self treating with melatonin 3mgs, mint flavored edible ones from Trader Joes. Plus listening to Sleeping Pill Hypnosis by Jaqueline Powers, under 11 minutes and works well if it grabs you. It's good in that it doesn't leave you sleeping, rather its training to get to sleep faster. The last 2 nights listening to it earlier in the day have helped me get to bed within a half hour. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=COMD5PSVmO8 I turned it into an mp3, also put it into my amazon music account so I can listen to it on my Alexa Echo unit before they stopped allowing such add ins. " Hope your daughter find the right combination to get a good nights sleep. Michael

Is this the so called Cinnabar Field
thelerner replied to OverseerFeatheredImmortal's topic in Newcomer Corner
In my younger days and during the college years I'd learn by traveling to seminars. Not as good as live teachers with regular classes and feedback, but a step up from books and CDs. -

Thing is, most of us don't have access to a quality Qi gong teacher. So the internet with a grain of salt and our common sense is the best we can do. It helps if the person giving advice has a history, so we can gauge there length of time studying and sincerity. -
The strict rules of the Sabbath, no work, no buying or selling, cooking, lifting, lighting.. a day of rest, study.. family.. contemplation..meditation. 24 hours of it. Mystically you get an 'extra soul'. I bring up the concept of Sabbath because I remember someone saying 'If you can't deal with the Sabbath. How you going to deal with eternity?' Are such restrictions heaven or hell? Maybe its ghost training. Living without physical desire, once a week 24/1 .

Please submit your questions for the Mo Pai FAQ
thelerner replied to MegaMind's topic in The Rabbit Hole
sure.. why not. I'm always interested in breathing patterns. Lengths, breaks, areas of concentration. I was also surprised to learn Mo Pai had standing practices. Not sure how much its stressed. You got better questions, then ask away. -

Question.. What percentage of Mo Pai is done sitting. What percentage standing? How does the standing relate and compliment the sitting meditation? Breath pattern.. what type is used most often? -
Yeah, he saw things thru the lens of an esoteric martial artists. Looking for a jeet kun do for enlightenment.

Glenn Morris considered Enlightenment to be a raised energy level. Strong flowing energy, have enough, strike kundalini (controlled) and MCO and you had it, Kan & Li. All this Morris talk has inspired me to get back into his Secret Smile and Damo's cave meditations. I'd do a short Secret Smile every time I was in the washroom. Work on exploring my Damos cave waking up or going to bed. Just listened to his Damos cave meditation from the old Meditation Mastery series. Interesting how different the intro and cave is from mine, but I think such individuality is the idea. good stuff.

There's also the chance that all these long circuitous threads are an elaborate drinking game. Every new post they take a sip and every page they have to down a whole shot. hell i might start playing too.

One aspect of soul is passion. The world's problem is too many are living without passion. We grow out of our passions, 'adult' out of them. And thats a pity. It's not he who dies with the most toys, wins. Its he who has the most passion.

This dove tails on another thread we had on how celibacy can lead to stagnation, can lead to mental demons out of control. Does it happen more often in clergy due to celibacy. Due to fame and ego? Or is it part of the human condition, happening to everyone to some degree and but its the rich, famous and clergy who get the press.

"everything can be sold and everything can be bought."
thelerner replied to Lois's topic in The Rabbit Hole
Random thoughts. Words are expensive.. especially vowels. loose lips, sink ships but are good for kissing. Everything has its price Except Greenland, it can't be bought or sold.
