  1. Violet Flame

In Glenn Morris's work he'd recommend people pay attention to the colors they saw behind there eyes. If/when you saw purple, he indicated you were doing something right. Course in the Chakra system purple is the top heavenly color. Similarly its the color adopted by Western royalty too.
  2. Five Important Themes of the DDJ

Not sure you understand Buddhism. You might want to get gain some clarity by talking to one. I don't think they'd agree with most of things you've said. At least not the Buddhists I know. With such vitriol towards them, I have to wonder if some Buddhists robbed you or beat you up lately and its coming out in your writing.
  3. Years ago, maybe a decade I did research into sun gazing. I got the impression its energizing but on the dangerous side of things. Seems like watching the sunrise or sunset is on the lighter safer side, great spiritual practice too. I like watching the sun when its moonlike behind thick cloud cover. And brighter sun through closed lids, soaking up the colorful phosphorescence. But its a practice to be careful with. There was at least one guru who claimed vast health and powers available through longer and longer staring the sun. I believe they left quite a few damaged acolytes in there wake. With some practices, more is definitely worse and dangerous.
  4. The Shocking State of Human Insanity

Maybe how screwed up we are, might help with enlightenment. But imo telling other people they're screwed up might be moving in the wrong direction. In that, isn't that what everyone does now?
  5. The Shocking State of Human Insanity

The OP wastes alot of time and mind on people and things that make them angry. One could buy a cheap finger heart rate monitor and see how your heart responds to posts about who and how much one hates. Not just your heart, you're probably triggering an array of hormonal soups that's triggering bad stuff, inflammation etc.. So.. they're very slowly killing you but it's kinda suicide. In South Western Malaysia there's people living on a peninsula in a 3 flat apartment who really really piss me off. But I don't know there names and nothing they do affects me so, I don't give these bastard peninsula 3 flatters any mind, cause it's be insane to waste my time on them. But for you people going to Malaysia, the south west part, and get to a peninsula, and get to a street with lots of 2 and 3 flats. Know that the 2 flatters are fine. Just look out for the people in the 3 flats. Note was typed painfully slowly on a phone, letter by letter w my thumb. You probably don't care about that, but maybe you should. Something something bout wastin time.
  6. 3 day water fast.

Think I'll join you soon. Last year I was using aTim Ferris short fasting protocol. I'm overdue for another trip.
  7. Please leave ego aside to read this

Thanks for sharing with us. One day see if you could dig up a copy of Pathnotes of a Ninja Grandmaster, silly title, great book. Lots of discussions on enlightenment, bujinkan, Maatsumi. Full of adventure as well as specific exercises. The stuff the KAP system was created from.
  8. Is any of this proven or real?

You and Nungali are right, but it does illustrate that in this age of easy visual manipulation and advertising extremes what we see isn't necessarily the truth. And because human nature doesn't change, its very hard to know what to believe from the past. For me the litmus is things that are true and good, keep on. They have lineage and modern practitioners who achieve as high as the past greats/masters.
  9. Is any of this proven or real?

Cause this is a proven or real thread. The part playing ping pong with nunchuks is CGI from a commercial, not Mr Lee at all rather advertising for limited edition Bruce Lee phone.
  10. Taoist meditation

I'd say yes, but overly philosophizing and theorizing can separate us from the physical reality. Historically many teachers wouldn't talk about it for fear of promoting long cycles of speculation instead of practice.
  11. Greetings Fellow Dharma Seekers!

Thanks, what a well written synopsis. Bill Bodri is nothing if not wordy, in a good sense. I see he's graciously has a sample of his online class: “Gong-fu” Transformations Within the Physical Body by William Bodri http://www.meditationexpert.com/Stages2.pdf lesson 2, 189 pages. haven't read it yet, but I intend to.
  12. Congratulations, we made it!

I think it'll be a good year. We'll buckle down a bit, get in shape, get more focused, no complaining, no trivia. A year to learn some new skills, connect with friends and family and uh.. what else is there?
  13. Greetings Fellow Dharma Seekers!

Welcome to the board. As a Master Nan follower, how do you feel about Bill Bodri's work? Do you feel he captures Master Nan well? Course reading and philosophy are just one end of the scale, one needs practice to balance it. I've heard many good things about Spring Forest and have some of Master Chun yi's audios.
  14. Heaven : Illusions : Rapid Advancement

Well lets not confuse charity with cons, marketing manipulation or bad ideas. Course even without ill intent unintended consequences are a bitch. Things have to be thought out, local input is imperative. Many a good idea has led to disaster. Ask any parent. Even with those things, the world and its people can use a little help at times. If people pick a charity, research it, and give steadily, it can make a difference, as can most of our actions of simple kindnesses.
  15. Is Science Actually Intuitive ?

Thing is, we probably walk past alot of serendipity without ever noticing. maybe its our intuition that slows us down and say Hey! Look at that. ie in a similar vein, the harder we work, the luckier we get. not me personally, i'm opposed to hard work i'm waiting for some serendipity dust to sprinkle down.
  16. Worrying : Intelligence : Excitement

I was at a B&B and they had a book of the Best Love Letters in history. Starting with the 1400's. Seems romantic love has been around for a long time.. casual sex too. Movies exaggerate things, odds are we wouldn't pay to sit 2 hours to see the mundane. Romantic love is a good thing, in my book. A high, that doesn't last, but I hope everyone has a chance to experience it.. and maybe let it burn down into another kind of love.
  17. On Mo Pai

Could you give us your definition? Also at the heart of cultivation is storage. Some see it as the goal, others disregard it for circulation. What are your thoughts. Thanks. Coming from a Japanese martial background I tend to interpret Qi as intention which is generally not keeping with the complexities of Chinese systems and paradigms.
  18. Worrying : Intelligence : Excitement

By 'the crowd' I think the OP means pop culture. While they may get more media attention I get the feeling fewer people live in 'pop culture' then one would assume, ie they're not a majority. If some strangers somewhere are doing X or Y, and its not affecting us, why should we give it much of mind. Styles change, youth rebels, pop culture seeks out extremes in order to stay new and relevant, until old fashion comes back into style, and the circle goes on. Dao is about following nature, growing and thriving according to the environment and seasons. Nature doesn't seek out excitement, or be what it is not. As a householder, I will buy beer, invite friends over, watch football and hope for an exciting game, cause its fun, and balance means not always cultivating and philosophy. Maybe its picking out pieces of pop culture, and getting involved and enjoying them. They are a link to other people and that's important. One can't live on the mat.
  19. Is Science Actually Intuitive ?

I'd agree that breakthroughs are largely intuitive, but after that you gotta backtrack and delve into the modeling and the math. Set consecutive experiments to prove the thesis, then the march to get peer review and outside verification. Then comes an even longer march to see if the discovery can lead to anything profitable, which can be additional years or decades.
  20. Dangers of Social Media

Even when its not that bad, its a time waster and one can easily feel that everyone is having such a great time and I'm doing nothing. On the other hand, used properly Facebook has allowed me to keep tabs on old friends that'd otherwise go downstream. Its also helped me with a couple hobbies, by being and acting as a quickie forum. So, when using it to connect and update with people and hobbies its good, when used as entertainment, bragging, keeping up with Joneses, pointless argument, not so much.
  21. Taoist meditation

I went there and read or rather skimmed the paper https://www.mdpi.com/1099-4300/20/11/854/htm. I don't see what it has to do with Taoist Meditation, at all. I can see how it has to do with wibbly wobbly, timey wimey stuff, but not Meditation.
  22. Everyone post some favorite quotes!

..If you have no skills, you have no confidence. If you develop skills, you’ll build confidence, and that confidence in your skills can help you create any type of life you want. by Ayodeji Awosika
  23. Heaven : Illusions : Rapid Advancement

Right, true in regular old Judaism too. Levels of giving where doing it anonymously to an anonymous person is the highest, then anonymously to a known person..etc., it goes on in degrees from there, but to me an important commentary was that in this world there is so much need, that even the lowest form of giving, taking accolades, showing off, is still good. Cause the bottom line is its helping someone in need and thats worth playing to an ego. Not ideal, but in the present world, good enough. Maybe with time, they'll get a taste for it and learn to give 'selflessly', but in the meantime, the main goal of charity is helping the needy, overrides spiritual 'points' of the giver. which reminds me, I think giving a person a job was higher then anonymous giving and receiving. Addon> looking back at the OP, mentioning another world after death, I'm reminded of a Jewish saying.. it was.. if you can't learn to appreciate the Sabbath, a day sitting around with friends, talking, eating, resting, no money, no work, no tech or machines- if you can't appreciate that, then how are you going to appreciate heaven? ie an example of how it may not be about gaining strange esoteric knowledge, but that if there's a nice after life given freely, then the person who knows how to lay back and take it easy wins. who knows..
  24. Heaven : Illusions : Rapid Advancement

No wheels, no karma, no nothing. Someone hungry gets a meal. Or someone down on his luck gets a hand up. Thats all, and thats enough, for me. There's need, I can help, I'm human they're human seems like a natural choice. Made harder because there is so much need and in truth, giving is fighting my worst instincts of selfishness and hoarding.
  25. Did the U.S. really go to the moon in 1969?

?? The above was arguing the point that with an anti-science, anti-government, 'everythings a conspiracy' mindset, one could say that the space shuttle program never existed. P.S glad you said never said they can't launch space ships. keep up the good work and insight. really, take some time and learn about the latest missions to space that are being launched. Also if you want to learn how NASA learned about the Van Allen belt, good. But when you find a video, try to find out if the person making it has a scientific background. If they're heavily invested in crazy conspiracy theories. For example the one you have has a video talking about how the government is putting people into Walmarts and killing them. If you want to know the truth why not look at youtube like this: See how they used science to understand the dangers of the Van Allen belt. Notice how they did various experiments to figure out its size and danger. How they used math to show how much radiation a craft moving 25,000 kilometers would experience. The Van Allen belt is indeed dangerous (also life saving for the planet) so is water. You can drown but if you study it and learn about things like swimming and boats, you traverse it. Really. Again this is a site which uses science, you won't find rants against the NWO on it. Still youtubes aren't necessarily the best source for learning here are some other sites if you're interested in learning the how's and whys we know about the Van Allen Belt. To learn more about NASA's Van Allen belt calculations, check out these links: https://spacemath.gsfc.nasa.gov/earth... https://www.hq.nasa.gov/alsj/tnD7080R... Studying the Van Allen Belts 60 Years After America’s First Spacecraft https://www.nasa.gov/feature/goddard/... 6 Surprising Facts About the First Manned Space Mission https://www.livescience.com/33185-yur... me. We don't have to guess, we can learn, from those who've studied the matter deeply, for decades. The questions and problems faced, the experiments done. How problems were solved through real experimentation and through delving into the physics of them. These problems were tackled by some of the best minds in science. They're proud of it and you can learn step by step how they were solved.
