Very nice find Sean and thanks for bringing it up again Mal -
My deepest condolances Santiago. As a parent of three kids I can't even begin to imagine what you're going through. I can't think of anything more to add than that except that I know your work with people is one more important thing going to make our society more healthy in the future.

Apech, I really like your post. That is useful. I really like Stephen Chang's Deer Exercise, outlined in his various books. Very different than the Chia method. There is no directing the energy to specific channels or places. It goes where it needs to go. For me it has helped me tune into the more deep energetic side of sexual feeling. Only then can I know what is circulating and what is conserved and transformed. Without that sensation, there is no point in conservation for me. Kind of like what you are saying Apech, at least how I have understood it. I think someone even posted the deer exercise here, or a link to it somewhere. I believe it was Shaktimama.

Secret Wu Dang Red Dragon Microcosmic Orbit

I agree with Blasto, and would word it my way if I understand him correctly, and to add that at this point in my training I am wondering if MCO is not so much a technique as an observation of how energy moves as it develops through something like standing practice and meditation. That once observed as making this circular movement pattern on its own then the mind can direct its attention to the route to encourage it. But in any case the method or pattern sought for here as the secret method is a looping pattern where the energy goes up and around the MCO in small loops, but I wonder if that is a help or a hinderance if the energy isn't already doing that to some extent. I don't think it is a secret method to open what isn't open. By the way Gary Clyman also teaches this looping pattern without this name attached to it. I think the most important thing has been for me to slow the mind's chatter and be observant to all sensations, and the breath, and allow the attention to open and sense energy directly. Then the intelligence in that process shows me what to do next. I might find it in a book or in a dvd. Bill -

Wing Chung in Sacramento Very understated teacher with a great way of teaching. User friendly school. He could be very well known if he would publish more. Practical martial training with very little fluff, and a good sense of humor. -
What is your favorite Taijiquan book?

Uncovering the Treasure, by Master Hwa in addition to all that has been to far mentioned. -
I want to do a little shameless promotion here for a book. I get no compensation at all, but thisbook is incredible. It may be a schtick, for six major calisthenics he gives the most basic exercises to work up to what we know as the accepted form of them. For the push up there is a step or two, its two before what we know as the girl pushup. Only then is the reader encouraged to move on as the joints are brought up to speed as well. Its called Convict Conditioning.

Is Tao an Ontological Essence of Life?
tumoessence replied to Stigweard's topic in General Discussion
I have a naive question here. I am not a scholar or anything and don't know many texts, but doesn't the problem come from attachment to interpretation of experiences, and attachment to experiences themselves? I have a spiritual "view" given me by a tradition and I see all my spiritual experiences after the fact in that light. I could be attached to the experience itself, but I don't see that as much of a problem in the context of this thread. Isn't ascribing essence to anything an action by the mind after the fact? Then I think I know what essence is? Or is the cognition of essence in the experience? Or does the mind only think so after the fact? -
Started to study Tai Chi on my own. Suggestions?
tumoessence replied to DalTheJigsaw123's topic in General Discussion
Hey thanks Hundun for your kind words. I am all for in person training also where possible. But a live body doesn't guarntee a good tai chi line, or ability to teach on the part of the teacher. I have learned much from Master Hwa's videos. I have also had the opportunity to study with him in person and get suggestions. But I wouldn't have been able to ask the right questions without the videos to work on first. But any one who wants to learn his form can then, with notice go see him, pop in for personal lessons. He is very generous in this regard. In fact as I have stated in other contexts he is one of the most generous human beings that I know. For example free weekend workshops. Free private lessons. But which ever dvds you learn from go see your teachers and check in with them. It is worth it. -

# 1 I like longer forms for the immersion but for beginning, less is more. But in the longer sequences there is lots of repition and the more you do the easier it is to do learn. #2 There will be a specific order and the sequence makes sense which your body learns to recognize. #3 You must decide when you are ready. It doesn't matter that the moves are perfect. Over time the sense that your body gains about what the principles of tai chi are creates a feedback loop so that to some extent, tai chi can become self correcting. But this takes years, and develops when you can commit to this being a lifetime endeavor. This tai chi sense does translate to other forms, but usually in terms of what is taught as to what is"internal" from your first form. Unless the "internal" of something new supercedes the old. #4 Moving meditation doesn't replace sitting. But you can learn a lot about sitting from the moving. "movement comes from stillness, and stillness comes from movement" if I am summarizing the quote correctly. After form practice I am very much inclined to just sit. I find the stillness is just there in a very organic and not forced way. I think it is a great catalyst. -

I recommend videos from classical tai chi as well as Hundun's suggestion. I have studied with some good teachers, but never got this info from anyone live. This is good stuff. Since you appreciate nei gong, I know you would like this. Bill -
I used to walk around with my son with energy circulating and enhanced at the heart area singing stupid songs or surrounding him with heart energy and expanded feeling of love and energy as I put him to bed. I still do but much less intentional these days. He is a wonderful human being at twelve. I think he always has been too. Bill Oh and no tv

Got Any Fiction Recommendations?

I have kids and read some of their stories and have found Terry Pratchett's Wee Free Men to be hilarious and spiritually insightful. Otherwise Hesse's Damian Along with lots of the suggestions already made. -
I have heard it is the body's defense mechanism that limits the its movements to twitches and movement of the eyes in deep sleep and dream. Sleep walking would be an example of that mechanism breking down. It is the body's wisdom. Bill

Resources: Books, Links, Articles, Movies, etc.
tumoessence replied to admin's topic in Group Studies
I would like to let everyone know about the release of my teacher's new book on tai chi practice. Master Hwa practices and teaches from the Wu Chien Chuan lineage of Young Wabu. His website is classiscal taichi and the book can be found at Uncovering the Treasure I share this link with enthusiasm because of every good reason to promote great tai chi practrice, but also and maybe mostly because this teacher is such a great and generous resource and a true human being and therefore embodies much of what Taoists strive for. This way is largely understated, the moves small and not flashy, but the effects of its practice are enormous. The teacher is an image of this way, and is not promoting himself but the joy of practice and is there for his students. -
Poor people take advantage of the same tax breaks in that they don't pay income taxes on their work income. In the usa 50% are not paying into the system yet reap benfits. 10% pay 70% of taxes and they are the top earners. So if a corporation required to pay more taxes by law and they pass it on to consumers then what do you do? I am not condoning the sytem. I think the problem lay in the very creation of so called money or federal reserve notes in the us. It is backed by and created by debt, and only has worth if they pledge you to pay it back in the future with your labor. If the fed reserve prints more money to bail out everyone and every corp and country the value of the dollar drops and we all suffer, but the banks that own the Fed Reserve earn a guaranteed interest on $ that they just print, then we have a parasite overseeing our economy and every politician is in there poket, and the dem and repub thing is a charade that we all choose sides and root for to blindside us to what is really going on. Everyone top to bottom and all layers are waking up to this fact. But the bright side is we are all rooted in Tao and that is the true source of wealth.
