Did they become taoist immmortals? No, but how many people do? If you enjoy your life and live with no regrets imo you've accomplished all there is to accomplish.

I met and spoke with 3 WWII veterans while out for lunch at work (2 Army, 1 Navy), they where all pretty normal to me and kept reminiscing on how many women they had over at Germany. They also constantly mentioned how they where just lucky to still be alive, and seemed very happy to be.

You are a veteran and you are not like this, and neither are any of the veterans I have met.

Oh, you want to join the military and advance in life? Why? You should just sit around in full lotus giving fat McDonalds workers orgasms, right drewhempel?

No wonder this thread doesn't make any sense to me, I don't have my tin foil hat on.

So leave society. Smash your computer screen in, sell all your shit, and go walk into the forests or mountains and make due. You are not needed and you will not be missed, I can promise you this.

Are you kidding me? "Spreading the evils of the United States" I have a simple solution for all of you who seem to hold the United States in such contempt Get the fuck out. You aren't forced to be here, go live in South America or Eastern Europe so you can see what a real corrupt government looks like. Clowns.

Read "See No Evil" by Robert Baer. He'll tell you.

I'm sorry for the loss of your friend, Scotty, a lot of responsibility and stress is placed on the shoulders of our of servicemen and many can not bear it. I am having a hard time understanding how you can say every soldier is no good, though? There is over a million people in the armed forces, mistakes are going to happen. Add in anger, hopelessness, despair, etc and you have a possible recipe for disaster, more so in combat situations (as you described). I do not understand what happened to you, and I might never, but I pray for your recovery on any injuries the military might have had on your psyche. The military is not perfect but it defends the best set of ideals that I believe the world has ever seen, so I will stand behind it.

You're right, I'm sure we where all better off when we where clubbing ourselves to death for no real reason.

Glad to see not everyone in this thread is a peace love and happiness-esque hippie Master Nan Huai-Chin http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nan_Huai-Chin#Early_life_and_military_career An enlightened Buddhist master, who would've thought!!

Are you really comparing the state of things now with the 19th & 20th century?
-
I won't take it personally and I know you're a good guy, have at it.

Yeah I was waiting for someone to come in and drop a little more information on it. Thanks. Oh and just to pour a little gasoline on the fire John 15:13 "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." EDIT: Just saw your post Scotty, no, why?

rsalazar, Thanks for taking the time to write a well thought out response, in part, I agree with you. The point I was trying to make was that with exercise you could essentially cure the obesity "epidemic." The vibe I'm getting from this thread is that HFCS or MSG or whatever is making people fat when it's not, it's lack of exercise. I went through a phase where I ate a disgusting amount of junk food - literally repulsive amounts and yes, I did gain some fat, but I did not turn into an oxygen thief that gasps for air while riding in those handicap carts at Wal-mart. There is a distinct difference between being thin and healthy but if you ask 5 people what being healthy is there is a good chance you'll get 5 different responses, so that's neither here nor there. I hope I got my point across better this time.

What caused you not to be selected, shaolin, or did you give up? As for training the military in general prefers an endurance build, start running one mile every other day at the slowest pace you can possibly manage (you should be able to have a conversation while running, easily). After two weeks do 2/1/1/1, another week 2/1/2/1, etc. and slowly work yourself up to a good 20 miles a week; this will take care of your cardio. You won't be expected to do too many push ups as a female but doing static holds will do you a world of good as well as partial reps. Pavel Tsatsouline was spot on when he recommended a lot of sets spread throughout the day, never going to failure. If you can do 5 push ups max, do 3 on the hour every hour. I can't say I am surprised this forum is so anti-military, but what's the big deal with wanting some adventure and action? Not everyone's idea of a fulfilled life is living to 80 well preserved and all healthy, we're all going out one day anyway, might as well do what you like.

Really? So what about the other 73.3% of the US population? HFCS is in everything so why isn't everyone fat?
-
Food really isn't the culprit behind the obesity rate, it's just lack of exercise. If you want to argue about health and how HFCS is poison or whatever, that's another subject.

Russia is one of the most toxic places in the world, what are you talking about?

I got a lower back injury about a year ago from heavy deadlifts, would this help? Also, is this a good source? http://www.russianfoods.com/showroom/product021A9/vendor004C6/default.asp
