so it's been a little over 3 weeks of my hanging practice. due to the fact i clumsily broke my first weight i switched to a 5lb plate the first week. it is recommended you progress at a much slower pace but i feel as if i'm going to stay at 5lbs for a while, if not for the remainder of my practice. the only other weight i have is 10lbs, which i think is a little too much for experimental purposes. also, due to the fact that i'm using a home made rig it might not be able to support that kind of weight and i don't need anything slipping from down there the only downside i have found, in my limited experience, is that you may develop a type of marking on your member. i don't mean a cut or a bruise, if you want an idea of what it is simply put all your weight on your palm and put it on the end of a table or something similar (you will see what i mean). i have, however, triumphed in that i have figured out how to prevent this from happening. i got one of my longer socks and cut from the top to bottom about 3 or 4 inches, so that i have the stretchy part and some material. if you put this over your member before hanging it is much, much more comfortable and leaves no mark (the "mark" usually fades within an hour or two anyways though). this may be exclusive to the hanging i do though as i don't have a silk cloth, which may be easier on the skin. as for it making you impotent or sterile, i have experienced the complete opposite. my sperm levels are the same if not higher than when i started and my testicles feel fuller. the practice produces heat in that i sometimes break a light sweat while swinging; typically, i'll do about 200-250 swings, massage, and then run the microcosmic orbit for a while and close down.

Why is payment necessary for learning the Tao?
mantis replied to Li Jiong's topic in General Discussion
hello it seems you all keep indirectly mentioning Li Jiong [why lie about it reference], when there are thousands of gurus that request a form of payment. No one told the Buddha, "give up your wealth and I'll give you enlightenment." That's laughable. no one on this board has said the above, either. -
Why is payment necessary for learning the Tao?

sloppy zhang, i don't think you signing up for a mcdojo has anything to do with paying for spiritual teachings. $98 for a course isn't exactly a ton of money. peace -
Why is payment necessary for learning the Tao?

it was an example; people will pay for what they feel is worth paying for. i don't know why spirituality has to be free when it's the one thing people should value the most, as it's whats supposed to liberate you. in ancient egypt people would work their ass off and usually live meager lives so they could buy the book of the dead (which cost a fortune, according to the documentary i saw) to ensure a good after life. i find it incredible people are trying to imagine what it was like for the buddha to give up his lifestyle and turn into an ascetic; unless you have already given up all your attachments you simply can't comment on that and are purely speculating. also, i believe, and i hope someone with a greater understanding can clarify this for me, that the chinese (traditionally) didn't view money the same way we do. in another thread it was stated that some chinese farmers had to work for years to be able to raise the money to attend one of Wang Liping's seminars. if you value something you'll pay for it, as simple as that. -

i don't see a problem with someone charging. we'll pay $300 for a new phone or an ipod but we won't pay ~$100 for a teaching that can potentially liberate us; make any sense? buddha had the life, women, money, everything so yes it was a sort of payment that he gave it all up. most of us on this board don't have half of what he had and we can't give even that up (or complain if we do). as others have said, if you think spiritual teachings should be free go seek out a free method, such as a vipassana retreat or AYP but don't degrade other teachers because they (rightfully) decide to request payment. -
you mentioned the sufi training before, you have to learn arabic to take it up no?
-
not even scientists can say things with "absolute certainty", you should have just said that it doesn't work in your experience instead of trying to pass off as humble.

the coming disaster, if it comes at all, will cause death not because of age or disease but because of our abuse of our planet. i don't know why you want to give off this impression that you have achieved some type of buddhist non attachment to your body but i treasure mine and we all should, it's our vehicle. no, my family isn't any better than yours or anyone on this boards but if i can protect them i will, instead of just yapping about "oh we are going to die eventually anyways why not just lie down and get raped." why do you think taoists hold longevity in such high regards? so you can live long enough to realize the tao. so, just as an aside, why do you believe you have deserved to live as long as you have yet the new generation must somehow die before their time?
-
having lived a longer life doesn't mean it has been filled with more tragedy; it was an ignorant comment.

way to inflate your ego there, age has nothing to do with it

we'll see if you all are still talking philosophical babble when shit starts going crazy

care to elaborate?

i probably won't ever die, they have already successfully cloned goats so hey, i'll be 1,000 years old telling my grandchildren how "people used to die" and they'll give me all types of faces!

bacon sure is tasty though

acupuncture sessions cost a shit ton more than a multi-vitamin, though
-
i take this multi-vitamin http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/opt/men.html although my urine is neon yellow that only has to do with high levels of B vitamins. look at our current athletes and compare their records with the athletes of old and you'll see who has their performance down. not everything modern is evil lol. just my 2 cents

smile do you study under a certain teacher or lineage for the bone marrow washing techniques?

very interesting, i agree with robert bruce and the document that it is easier to astral travel when very tired. the only time i've ever been successful with astral projection was when i was lacking sleep. i didn't go anywhere though since i was so shocked that it happened (it feels very, very real) i woke up. interesting to note that in this case yang overcomes the yin! i'd be interested to hear about the yang methods though.
